I feel that it's super important to ensure the sponsor on the back of the jumper is a strong brand, which will in turn strengthen our brand. A strong brand in my opinion would be a reputable car company, (BMW or Peugeot sounds good for us, although it may clash with AHG's interests), or a technology company (eg. iinet - Hawthorn), an airline (eg. Emirates - Collingwood), or a brand synonymous with being fresh and innovative (iSelect fits that bill, and was a good-get for the ladies jumper). I thought the Webjet and Opel combo was quite good, although I personally felt that the last few years of having a web address (ahg.com.au) on the back of the jumper, cheapened our brand. Web addresses are so 2005 anyway, just google it! If MFC is taking its time towards signing a strong brand, then I feel it'll be worth the wait. Fingers crossed.

Just saw Adelaide have signed a sponsor agreement with china southern. Can they sponsor two clubs or have we lost them?

It seems to be additional to the Melbourne sponsorship, perhaps seeking exposure to more than one state/region:

"Mr Lu said finding a strong community spirit was key to the sponsorship and said the airlines’s sponsorship of Melbourne Football Club was evidence of its commitment to top-level sport in Australia."

I don't like it though. Surely, there's an exclusive clause in there? Then again, this was a deal signed by Schwab wasn't it? So who the feck knows.

I'd go Tesla. It screams innovation. Melbourne are the innovators of the men's and women's game. And now under Simon Goodwin, the Melbourne Football Club will continue to evolve and innovate on the footy field. That'd be my pitch anyway.

With Max Gawn and Jordan Lewis all over the media, I would have thought our profile would be worthwhile... surely some hipster coffee could throw some cash or a Illy/Lavazza, but please God, not Nespresso.

Nespresso brings George Clooney and Jack Black right. That's good Hollywood money.

Tesla brings Elon Musk. That could be interesting.

But I think we actually aim to eradicate "Ludicrous Mode" in our gameplay.

Musk has already shown his hand with the SA power debacle. He wants a big push into Australia. What better way than through the sponsorship of a sporting team? $1mill p/a sponsorship for BOJ and MFC polos would be peanuts for Tesla and I suspect PJ would jump at it.

Chinese electronics (phones) company Oppo are about to take over sponsorship of the Indian cricket team. Their affordable but reasonably well reviewed Phones are available in Oz so what better way to get brand awareness than the back of our jumper!

Presume club is holding out for a premium price rather than settling for a cheaper deal. Hopefully if we keep winning it'll be sorted.

Something like SAMSUNG would also be good.  A brand that almost everyone can relate to, including the kids.

Lego would definitely help with the kids. My 4 year old has taken over the entire kitchen table with Lego every morning and his 2yo brother is starting to join in too.

It may not be a BOJ sponsor but Akambo Wealth are on board for another 3 years.  https://www.google.com.au/search?q=+Akambo+Private+Wealth&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=aIPgWNKrBYbp8wfwgJrYCQ

Article doesn't say how their name will be presented on our club/player gear.  Can't imagine they would forget to mention it if Akambo Wealth were the BOJ sponsor, would they?

Good news to have them continue!  A good start to the year probably helped.

I'm sure a BOJ sponsor can't be too far away.

Although we might then need another for the neck"free kick if connection above this point"

Those that think the back of the jumper looks good without a sponsor are kidding themselves

Different perspective. I'd rather have a sponsor than not...but yesterday at the ground the solid dark blue back of the jumper unspoiled other than by the player's number looked spectacular.

If we're not going to get a back of jumper sponsor, or at least until we do, I wouldn't object to using it to promote a charity, such as Reach. A different one each week would be a good PR opportunity for the club as well as the charity chosen. You'd get a media story every week.

Why don't we put reach on the back until a sponsor is found like we did a few years back?

Especially this last weekend when we were running a "Reach" promotion.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
