Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A rationally thinking person would not post something like that.

Boy needs help, big time.

Think you've nailed it faulty.

The idea of topping himself at 16  before going to the tigers is suggestive.

He does need help.  But I don't think its because he didn't make it in the AFl.

I think his point was the level of care that as provided by the Tigers was substandard.  That fact he singles out the person who was in charge of pastoral care says that person shouldn't be doing that job and it seems has been replaced.  They also wanted to silence him which they know they screwed something up.   Maybe he was just told to go suck it up by the administration.

He is well aware of his mental health issues, it was the reason he stepped back from football in the first place:

Clearly a young guy having a very hard time of things. Regardless of the motive or accuracy of the post, I hope he's now getting the support he needs.

Pastoral care? Dan Richardson? Isn't he head of FD?

The guy obviously had very serious mental health issues before he joined the Toiges but it sounds as if he received little help from the club.

Hope he gets some very soon

And asking anyone to sign a 'keep your mouth shut'clause is nothing short of bizzare.

Hopefully he has the insight to know he needs help.

Sounds like the stages of grief.

However AFL clubs have destroyed lives in the past.   I hope he feels better, having got that off his chest.

I enjoy a dig at Richmond as much as anyone, but the fact he had suicidal tendencies two years before arriving at the club says alot. Best of luck to him in finding peace.

I don't see the fact that he had suicidal tendencies before having any fact in the matter. I would like to think any workplace would care about the welfare of their employees regardless of their history. Obviously Richmond could have done more to help this kid, although I don't think it's a problem that is isolated to Richmond. I would think that many clubs are lacking in the ability to deal with the welfare of all their players and maybe the AFL need to set up an external program for all players.

Poor kid. Obviously a few Roo's loose in the top paddock.

Be interesting to see if Richmond actually reach out to him.

IF it is the case that Richmond wanted him to sign a Deed of Release upon his 'retirement' from the club, the AFL is duty bound to investigate this.

Such a claim is remarkable, if true.

Good lucK with that RB.

It has taken them ten months to make no decision on Watson.

The reply will be no case to answer.

remember the Dusty investigation?

Really? You think his outburst is confirmation the club didn't do enough!!! That's a big and very unfair call on Richmond. Would you say the same if it was Melbourne and you knew none of the facts?

Don't know how you could form a conclusion either way Crystal Dees. As you've said, it seems we know 'none of the facts'.

Plainly there is an issue here. Outbursts such as this are regrettable. And rare. I feel sorry for the kid.

That the club asked a 20 year old to sign a deed of release upon his departure from the club would have to be unusual and, to my mind, it reveals something a bit bigger. I don't expect any of Terlich, Michie, Newton, M Jones or Dawes were asked to sign a deed of release upon being given notice of their delistings.

Seems like a pretty obvious call for help still. At least he's put it out there so people are aware that he needs help and the place that he's in.

The people I've known with depression haven't always done that and to their detriment IMO, so it's probably a start. Is social media the best place to do it? Each to their own, I suppose.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
