Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

I also liked some of what I have seen of ANB, but I don't think he is locked in.   His debut was fantastic, but then of course Gysberts' at the same ground was too :-(

But I also doubt that they would announce any delistings whilst Casey is still playing - only Norf would consider anything as stupid as that.

I don't think ANB has shown any promise at AFL level. He got on the end of a few at Geelong last year but generally struggles to get involved. Needs to find an elite attribute to make the leap in much the same way Sam Mitchell worked on his hands in close to make up for his lack of pace.

So how many players need to be delisted now? Who will they be? Will ant be rookied?

We have to make 3 senior list changes at the draft (can be selections or rookie upgrades)

Off: Grimes, M.Jones, Terlich, Dunn (traded)

On: Lewis, Hibberd, McKenna

That gives us one vacancy so we need minimum 2 more off and Dawes and Newton are uncontracted so almost certain to go.

Rookie list: Wagner (possible upgrade) Michie, White, Max King (all likely to go IMO)

B list Rookies: Smith (possible upgrade), Maynard (new so retained), one vacancy

As it stands, with Grimes, Terlich, M. Jones and now Dawes and Newton being cut (including trading out Dunn and bringing in Lewis, Hibberd & McKenna), our primary list of 37 players' meets the requirement prior to drafting the mandatory 3 players to make up the total primary list of 40. We aren't required to make any further delistings from the primary list (but we still might).

Out: Dawes, Dunn, Grimes, Jones, Newton, Terlich

In: Hibberd, Lewis, McKenna, Pick 47, Pick 69, Pick 84

We've gotten rid of 6 player's no longer in the best 22 for 2 who definitely will be, 1 unknown (delistees were a known quantity, not adding up to much) and 3 speculatives.

Overall, we have improved the quality of our list.

Three live picks, I reckon we will use 2 promote Wagner.  Look to State league competitions for a couple of developing ruckman to rookie and another kid.

I reckon we just look for pure speed in the draft.  Players that are quick that we can hopefully coach to be good footballers.

In Mahoney's interview today he seemed to indicate we were not going to use 84 (Pat McKenna was better in our mind than what we would get at pick 84 - I think he said from memory).

So 2 in via the draft and one upgrade. We should start taking bets on Wagner, White or Smith.

2 or 3 picks in the rookie draft. Wonder if McInerney, T. Smith, and Keilty are in our sights.

I wonder if we will cut one more for a PSD pick. I guess they would have done it now...

PSD is somewhat redundant now. With the de-listed free agents group, you can pick up these players now. And the draft is now open to anyone, not just 18-19 year olds. The PSD is basically a thing of the past / a mechanism to scare people to get deals done.

We've lost 6 (Grimes,Terlich,Jones, Dunne,Dawes and Newton) from our primary list and brought in 3.  If we upgrade both Smith and Wagner that means we are one short for a full list.  I think they'll go for just one in the draft and then go for more options at rookie level.  I wouldn't be surprised if they delist White as well.

I feel ANB still has potential - a run of a few games and he could show his wares - and also agree that when given the opportunity aside from Kardinia - he hasn't managed to grab it - a lack of delisting shows me that there is still hope held...not sure why I like him, but I do.

I think ANB deserves a bit more time and slack to be honest.  Only 20 years old and has really dominated at the level below AFL as an inside midfielder. It's only for the fact that we have a lot of inside mids at the moment and we had very few injuries that he didn't get a better run at it this year.

Also if you are looking for an elite attribute I believe his endurance is considered elite.

So, our full list of players 26 or older is -

Lewis, Vince, Lumumba, Pederson, N. Jones, Garland, Garlett, Jetta, Spencer.

Just 9 players. 5 of them reliably in our best 22, a couple of fringe/mature depth, and an crisis-only ruckman.

Of the entire rest of the list, every player is either able to contribute at AFL level, or a kid worth monitoring their progress. Oh, plus Trengove on a one-year contract to see how he comes back from injury after finally doing a pre-season.

How did this happen, we have become a club with basically close to no dead wood, no list clogging waste of salary cap players.

Some clubs have almost nothing but dead wood!

I've been very quiet during the Trade period, but I've been reading multiple times daily, as always. Don't forget ANB had an interrupted pre-season in 2016. He has a few disposal deficiencies, as were exposed during VFL finals. He does, however get plenty of it! He also has the noddy head, arrogant front that gets up the nose of opponents. A little bit of Bugg there! He is young and he has shown something in more than a single game at the highest level. I think this is an important year for him and I hope he gets an injury free run at it. Then we will be in a position to draw conclusions.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
