... dare to dream

In some ways this season has been about laying more foundations and getting out of the ground , to use building parlance.

The team now not only dares to believe in itself it knows it can win, not as a one off, a fluke but because they dare to play a team game.

It's still very raw. It's still got a lot of refining and polishing to come but all in all the Dees, to borrow Kennedy , have stopped just thinking about winning by beating and and all comers they are doing it.

Dreams into Actions.

Not going to lie, it pisses me off that we have to travel to Geelong AGAIN.

Since 1990, we've played them there 19 times (compared to 18 at the MCG, 1 at Optus Oval).

Does any other Melbourne team have to travel there as often as Melbourne does?

SWYL would be a front runner for that one!

There's a few just in this thread!

It's something I personally don't understand, not just in footy, but life in general: looking back and having a big old cry about ancient history.  There's nothing else we can learn from that Bummers loss.  It's happened, nothing we can do about it now, just focus on the dream!

Ban the next person who sooks about the Essendon loss.

Can I sook about the West Coast loss instead?

Or even the North loss, which if we'd won, would have us level with North on 11-9 right now?

I doubt it.

One of the benefits of our strong finish, I sincerely hope, is that when it comes to fixturing we're positioning ourselves as the team to get a better deal next year.

Too true.

The one thing I think that the players have learned from it, is that we can't go into games believing it's already won.  While we've turned the corner in the last few weeks, I think it started all the way back in Round 2 with that loss.  It was an eye opener and we've moved forward superbly from it.

Because Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn, Richmond and lately North are exempt from playing there, so us and the Bulldogs have to pick up the slack every year.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
