Not that I'm a huge fan, but Zac Clarke could fill that need.

Otherwise I reckon we should draft Declan Keilty are give him a go.  Has a bit of talent.

I'm not a huge fan either.  We need quality, and Clarke, Vickery and others don't really do it for me.  Keilty looks alright, but can he ruck?  He's spent pretty much all of his time down back.  Again, I think he wouldn't be much of an upgrade on what we have.

If we want to push for finals we need quality, not plodders or 'hopefuls'.

I've been impressed with Keilty when he goes into the ruck.  He normally gives away a bit of height and weight, but you wouldn't know if given how well he competes.

If you go back through the clubs videos I'd recommend watching him in the VFL Round 2 match v The Filth at the Holden Center.  Was up against Mason Cox all day, and all things considered did a really good job.  Thought he competed well weekend gone against Longer, Holmes & Pierce also.

Agree.

He was one out against three for three quarters after Spencer went off

I thought he won or halved most of the ruck contests.

I hope that is just a throwaway line. One has kicked 154 goals at AFL level while the other has kicked 6.

He is capable of playing some good football and if he didn't cost too much (financially) I wouldn't be against it.

The first part, yes. The second I'm not so sure of LG. I think Jake is limited beyond ruck duties. Having said that I'd like to see him now get a number of senior games to look at how the two rucks combine.

Fair enough. Spencer is no forward. It was a throwaway line, indeed.

I think I was riley to excess by just how much Iy dislike the idea of Vickery on the field for us. It is possible that I'd take a 'no forward' over Vickery.

Given that we are looking fine for key forwards long term, with some promising kids coming along and Hogan & Watts working together happily, why would be buy in a guy who can't manage 10 disposals a game, is spectacularly bad at working up the ground, spends all day waiting for someone to kick it to him, is not especially accurate at goal, and who most definitely cannot ruck?

I was listening to the pre game on sen Collingwood/ WCE and the of asked Scott Lucas Vickerys manager about the MFC'S interest in him and weather we had spoken to him and Lucas was awfully quiet and didn't seem to answer the question properly either will wait and see I guess??

He would be behind Dawes, Pederson, Hullet and Weideman so no point.

I mentioned that The Geelong game was a milestone because GAWN arrived in dominant fashion. But someone interjected that GAWN + SPENCER played together for that day and it was also the last time. If Vickery is off the cards then how about we [censored] play Spencer

8 disposals yesterday. The tenth time this season he has failed to reach double-figures. It is also his average.

As for those thinking he could ruck-support for us, he had 5 hitouts too. Which is double his average. He's had 10+ hitouts 4 times in three years.

Since the round 9 move to support Gawn, Jack Watts has had more hitouts than Vickery. (As well as more goals, double the disposals and almost double the marks)

Vickery is not effective ruck relief.

Vickery is limited as a forward.

Vickery offers little else.

Please, stop this, it is upsetting me.

Vickery is the type of player we need but he is not the player to fill that need.

Haven't Geelong got heap of rucks/forwards on their list struggling to get a game, and no im talking about that [censored] that used to be on our list

I watched him for a while yesterday and he was spectating and not participating, he just watched the game and didn't at any time try to get involved or influence the game.

I would be livid if we picked him, he's a total dud.

I remember there was the odd recruiter, back in the day, who said that they would have taken Vickery with the first pick in the '08 draft.

I'm assuming none of them currently have jobs in the industry at present.

One of my most hated players.... If this happens I will wish him poor form and a life at Casey!

Peanut of the highest order :o

That's not fair to Casey

Spud and [censored] are two words used far too commonly on AFL forums but Vickery is indeed both a Spud AND a [censored] - NO THANKS!

The OX just said (again) on SEN we should target Vickery. He needs a change of culture which we could provide.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
