Pannell should be banned for the rest of the season.

Send a message and actually have these umpires called out for once for that dirty work.

Jones charged with wrestling once again. He's forking over some cash so far this year... Does anyone know if subsequent wrestling charges can ever result in suspension, not just a financial penalty?

I would have given up watching footy if Bernie had been found guilty of striking. I was watching the last quarter at my tennis club and there was a loud chorus from twenty or so tennis mates," What? Do you call that striking?" That's an absolute joke." Pretty fair comment from a group of blokes who are either Weagles or Docker supporters. Bernie looked completely unfazed at this ridiculous report. Gee, don't we all love his commitment and fearless play. He is a great acquisition. Ump Pannell should change sports and umpire netball. Sorry girls, I know netball can be quite physical but its not quite at AFL level for physical contact.Great game though, so fast and skilful.

Don't know the answer there but interesting that Jonesy was fined for wrestling. Was he wrestling with himself? I would have thought it takes at least two to constitute a wrestling bout. The other Wrestler not guilty?

and some people were calling for a red card system?   these fools could have sent off our best player for no reason

leave the MR to the MRP and just try to get your free kicks right

And as I recall there was a 50 m as well.  He was pi55ed off about that.

Talk about umpires who think they are bigger than the game.

At least Bannister had the guts to come out and say he stuffed up that headlong drive in front of the Hawks' goal.

Neither helped our cause of course.

doesn't get the 50 metre penalty back at a crucial part of the game. Pannell a poor decision maker. certainly a good argument for not introducing red cards.

Bernie skates on the edge and he's been close on a few occasions this year, but that isn't a bad thing, never a backward step.

Ceglar got suspended for hitting Jesse, did anyone see that, i certainly missed it.

Makes you wonder if 'reporting' should just get stripped off the match day umps and just be left to the MRP. Bernie gets overturned and Cellar goes for a behind the play one on Hogan when none of the officiating guys saw it.

Thanks for that, makes me wonder how the hell he only got 1! Head high elbow behind play should be at least 2 if not 3!

I was staggered when I saw that vision....he got 2 down to 1, same as Hawkins got for a love tap!  Unbelievable.  That was an elbow to the jaw by Ceglar, and Hogan was off the ground for about 5 minutes.  Should be out for at least two, possibly 3.

Yep. And Hogan was completely unprepared for it. Dropped him and ran off. Very low act and one i's suggest the dees won't let go. I hope Viney plays next time.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
