Alex Rance, 2:15 press conference

He might quote a biblical saying like this;

1 Kings 22:24

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, "How did the Spirit of the LORD pass from me to speak to you?"

What Rance did was really poor and he copped a fair punishment. Some here seem to get off on hating people, can we let it go?

I imagine it will be an apology. He always seemed a fair sort of a player from what I saw of him.

It's easy to do something stupid that you sincerely regret later. It will be interesting.

Next thing Bitter apologises for acting out of character. Had a chance to lobby for self-flagellation before a sudden brain-fade saw him gently patting Rance on the back.

It's not Jacks' faults.

Yes I accept that it deserved 2 weeks. Penalties being what they are now, he had to go. I Still am worried about my 81-1 on Viney for Brownlow but I wouldnt have him any other way.

He could have easily been knocked out and stayed down.

You know how the AFL feels about contact to the head....

I know how you're feeling about JV. I got 251, 101 & 51 on him. It's always a risk with Jack. He even admits white line fever takes over him. It will be a long season, hehe, good luck!

And the Lord sayeth, Zedekiah thou hast wronged thy brother, but thou art a stout fellow and I can see that thou was simply frustrated. So, three plagues down to two with an early sacrifice.

And Buggeth the Accursed ran in unnoticed and did shoveth and taunteth Zedekiah whilst he was paying penance. And there was wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Rance wanted to take a year off didn't he.
Was probably sucked into staying with the promise of finals.
Finals are up in smoke and he's probably pizzed he's now stuck there.
I'm tipping he retires.
Can't be a Jo-Ho and be running around elbowing blokes in the back of the head you see.

Hats off to you ADC. The one thing every good footy forum needs is Biblical quotes, sad to say it but Demonland has been lacking in this regard. You have righted the ship. Well played Sir.

I think the hate on him has been a bit extreme, for me I'm more disappointed that it wasn't outright condemned on the commentary. Especially given the recent events with the young footballer being killed by a cowards punch.

2 games is about right IMO.

I didnt think it was that bad after Jack Watts got up ok. I thought it was a free and to be honest thought Viney's response while great might be judged over compensating.

It seems most D'landers think it was much worse.

Here's a little experiment for you and any other demonlanders who think the hit wasn't that big of a deal,  or wasn't forceful; lightly hit the back of your head with your palm. Do it lightly -  with the lowest impact you can- and notice how the dull pain reverberates around your whole scull.  It doesn't take a lot of pressure at all to feel it.  Now imagine what a strike with dog Rance's impact would have felt like.  It is actually a credit to Jack Watt's that he took it like he did- the potential to be concussed or worse from such a strike is very high, and Vineys response was spot on!

This. The media seem to be doing their utmost to protect Rance. Would be interesting to see the narrative if Dustin Martin was in the same situation.

Those kind of whacks happen in every game. Known as a crude spoil or making a player pay for it. Only difference is most players attempting a mark from the front are expecting it and are braced for impact. Not when lying on the ground.

I think this is entirely different, simply because the blow is so much worse when it simultaneously hits the back of the neck, and the face collides with the ground. That is seriously dangerous, and needs to be taken seriously.

There is a big difference between hating a player and losing all respect for them.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
