6.  Watts:  Jack has arrived, and there's no better way for him to confirm his arrival than against the filth.

5.  Viney: Ferocious at the ball and man.  Simply bleeds red & blue, and might heading for AA selection.

4.  N. Jones:  Getting back to his best, and we all know how good that is!

3.  Gawn:  The linchpin for our emerging midfield.  Another excellent game in the ruck and at critical times around the ground.

2.  Wagner:  Surprised me and lots of others around here.  Calm under pressure and took the game on.  Easy to see him as a 'regular' on that performance.

1.  Lumumba:  Getting back to the form we recruited him for.  His run from defence suits our new game style to a tee.

Unlucky: Great team effort today, but a few like T.Mac. Tyson, Pedersen deserve a special mention.

6. Watts - First goal set the scene as did his first half. Just needs to put 2 of those together to finish! Solid 2nd also though

5. Viney - The Rampaging Bull. 10 Clearances. Not sure how many of those were effective. Needs to be more aware though when he gets a free or a mark as to whether/when to play on. . Cost us at least 2 sure fire forward entries today by playing on unnecessarily which resulted in turnovers and Pie goals to give them back some momentum. Those two missed entries could have sealed the game much earlier IMO.

4. Tyson - Solid. Still a little slow to decide what he's going to do. A split second in speeding this up and making better choices and he becomes a very damaging mid.

3. Pedersen - Solid and reliable. Put body on the line in the clinches also and ran hard all day. 2 critical goals.

2. Kent - Spread well, ran hard and provided solid options on the outside. Much needed on the vast expanses of the G for some team balance. 5 i50s, 6 tackles and a goal. Nice come back from the Bombers horror match Deano. Just reduce the clangers pls....5 today.

1. LUMUMBA! - The run, the carry, the breaking of lines! The eyes down hitting targets coming i50 on at least 2 occasions! Something i've rarely seen from a Demon HB of late. Ty Mr Lumumba. Keep it up son. Love it.

Apologies to Gawn (who i thought won the first half soundly but was matched or beaten in large sections of 2nd half. Took some solid clunks though) Bugg, Wagner, Salem and Jetta

6. Viney was manic all day at the pill, continually got smashed but kept fighting through.

5. Gawn continually clunked some grabs around the ground getting us out of trouble. God help us if he goes down.

4. Jetta. I simply loved him destroying Fasolo and his rebound is becoming first class. Continually kicks well from defence.

3. Watts has to get in slotting four.

2. N Jones. Bless his heart.

1. Lumumba. Provided some fantastic run today and is finally lowering his eyes hitting targets. Got pinned a couple times also that frustrated but that's going to happen with how he plays

6. Viney: heart of a lyon

5. Watts: He always had, just needed some confidence

4. Gawn: Kept on going even with the soon to be illegal 3rd up

3. Jones: One of the great captains in the industry

2. Salem: Composed and brilliantly stable

1. Wagner: The Beatles called him the Everywhere Man

Exactly. Grundy was very good.

It was just sitting there waiting to happen. Plus with Oscar KO'd that might take a while.

This is so a Jack Watts thread! (but it doesn't quite look like what I'm used to?!)

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
