The Jack Trengove is BACK Thread

If Tyson is out this week as well, I'd have thought this is as good a chance as any to try Trengove out.

He's either going to play through the middle as an inside mid or he's going to play Vince/Lewis' role off half-back whilst they are put into the middle.

I doubt it. I think we now know that the JKH/Kennedy/Kent saga caused the FD to have to make something up on the run to cover for Garlett, and they tried using Hunt in that role and replacing him with White.

Failed, but probably wouldn't have happened if those others were available.

A club should never put a line through a player as they can sometimes surprise you with their development. Having said that it does feel like that is happening to Jack. It's gone from me being disappointed about the situation to a lower level of anger towards the club. CAN THE CLUB PLS EXPLAIN WHAT HIS AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT ARE!!! Plapp talks about the development of others at VFL but less so JT. If it's speed then say so !!!! I've had enough of it - members are entitled to know what he needs to improve on

No, only JT needs to be told what he needs to improve on.  Members are less 'entitled' than they think they are....

Yes to some extent l agree but we get nothing other than vanilla reports from Plapp e.g. JT is professional, JT is showing leadership blah blah blah. Just want an understanding areas of improvement its not that big a deal. If l was asking about the color of his jocks or his personal life then l would agree with you

Tyson confirmed out and Trengove named in the Interchange. With Viney and Tyson out I'd say JKH and Trengove in, with Kent or Kennedy in for Bugg. Hogan in for  White.

You'll need to squeeze one more out to get Trengove in.

OUT Bugg Viney Tyson White Wagner??

IN Hogan Garlett Trengove JKH Kent

With Viney, Tyson and Jones out our only 'slow mid' is Lewis...maybe that's why Trengove fits in the squad?

Does anyone else think Jack's portrait in the 'ins' list looks especially happy.

I got a real glow in the heart, and instantly feel like we're going to win on sunday. It's like the world just turned a little more red and blue.

Is there a market where you can bet on trengove getting named in the best

Yeah, the Stupormarket. Stupor being 'the lack of critical mental function' or a 'condition of greatly dulled or completely suspended sensibility'. Sorry Daisy - but please don't throw away your money to those blood-sucking bookies based on some sort of sentimentality. I'll send the club a cheque for $50 on your behalf if Trenners gets even close.

I only ever bet for sentimentality or pride, betting for profit is by far more dangerous... but I take your point cheers

I thought it was poor form to take Jack to Perth on the bench in the pre season game vs Eagles and then not give him a run. If ever the club wanted to assess him at something close to AFL level that was the game - really not much at stake.   It amazes me how he keeps his chin up sometimes.  All credit to him.

Last year the club kept nominating Grimes in the squad but rarely got a game.  It became embarrassing.

Hope the same doesn't happen to Trengove - he deserves better, I wish the club would play him or not nominate him in the squad.

Officially ruled out by Goodwin (quoted on twitter by the club). Said he has things to work on.. Those things namely being requesting a trade to a club that might give him a game, not just rub up against him while the club has its period.

Agreed Lucifer.  Very disheartening for Jack. One can only imagine how discouraged he must be feeling and what it must be doing to his psyche and confidence levels. It does seem similar to the Grimes situation.  Coaches and selectors have to make tough decisions but it seems harsh. There are no rumours about Jack's attitude to it all, so it either says a lot about the man or the nature of the interpersonal relationship between coach and player.

Verbatim from Twitter
Quote

Goodwin: Jack Trengove will leave no stone unturned in his quest to come back.

Goodwin: Jack Trengove won't play on Sunday, although he's getting close. We know what he brings. We want to see some things at VFL level.

Poor bugger...

I'm sick of seeing White Wagner JKH etc getting games b4 Jack he might be slow but he has a bigger skill set than most on the list. Goodwin obviously doesn't like him. I reckon if Sam Mitchell can play AFL then Jack can & should 2.

Exactly. It's the same line wheeled out every time.  We don't even have a general idea what they want him to work on.  Is it attack, defence, disposal, decision making..?

Let's hope they are being a tad more specific with their feedback to Jack.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
