199cm forward/ruckman, apparently.

Two M.Kings on the list, competing for the same spot. Not going to be very confusing.

Not surprising that we've gone for a ruckman IMO, thought it might have been with a rookie spot though.

Based on the stats (and highlights) he's a lot more 'ruck' than 'forward' at this point in his career.

He amassed 2 goals this year. But he was accurate with those two shots at goal!

so whats happeneing with our other King?? How far away is he?

Seems to have great hands based off the highlights. His disposal actually looks good 2nd time watching. I keep expecting him to shank it as his ball drop looks slowish. But he hits a target and makes good desicions. His marking was great and good hand ball skills.

I quite pleased we picked up some talls late.

draft radio said he looked the goods as a 16yo then missed a year following ACL reco. played 10 games this year before running out of gas. might take a while to build the tank up. Project player by the sounds

Like what I see in this highlghts package . Oliver looks a good rover also . I can see why fitzy was let go .

Reminds me a bit of Brendan Lade. If he could be anywhere near as good this pick would be a surefire winner.

This is getting us ready maybe for season 2021.

Such maybe foresight.

I just wouldn't bother. I wish him all the best but so much investment for a maybe 6 years from now?

Athletic Ruckman, former Basketballer. Another one we can work on for a few years. I do question his size given the number of 2m+ giants there are running around these days.

paddy ryder is only 196cm.

and i like the way he palms the ball, none of this drop it to the feet.

You've got 3 options for a ruckman I think.

1) Late pick and a list spot plus 5+ years development for a guy who could be anywhere from great to average

2) Trade a middle to late pick for a guy who probably isn't any good and unlikely to get better (a Giles or Curry)

3) Trade a good pick for either a good ruckman with runs on the board who might crash out after 3 or 4 years (a Jolly or Ryder) or a younger prospect who might only be ordinary anyway (Warnock).

I don't mind opiton 1. Yeah it takes a while but you've got 44 list spots for a sport of 22, there's room to use one every few years and you get to develop the guy from the ground up.

Mitch seems very raw and athletic, compared to Flynn anyway who we bid on and is 10kg heavier and more physical.

Really though it's hard to be disappointed when we've got someone in line so we can finally get rid of Spencer!

Good to get another ruckman onto the list. We need to develop a few more to help support big Max or cover him if he gets injured.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
