Great report DM. Funny you mention about Oscar Mac because pretty sure i read somewhere that he is actually 198cm tall now and had a bit of a growth spurt when he arrived at the club. Next time if anyone can get a chance of oscar standing next to his brother he actually towers him a bit lol.

I noticed the height difference in a photo that appeared on Instagram just after TMac returned from overseas. Oscar looked a lot taller (certainly more than 2cm taller) but I couldn't be sure because it could easily have been explained by the camera angle or the way the two were standing.

If he has indeed grown to the 198cm mark and given he was recruited as a forward who can also play ruck (noted he's training with both backs and forwards), I wonder whether the fact that we have Oscar and Max King coming through the ranks would mean we are less likely to be looking at Sam Weideman or Harry McKay in the draft?

[That's not to say that I'm necessarily comparing these players on ability or potential]

I'm told they started this cricket game at 10am, Hogan won the toss and elected to bat. Much to the frustration of the others, he was still there at stumps.

There's NOTHING he's not good at.

Declaring?

Re-watched our last game of this year against GWS and the commentary team suggested Hogan's run up approach to goal was 'setup like he was going to kick on his left' - which could explain the stuttering approach as he walks in to manipulate himself to kick on his right.

kick left footed

throw left armed

bowl left handed

tennis left handed

write left handed

golf right handed

bat right handed

2 hands - right

1 hand/leg - left

Dad - Right handed in everything

Brother - Right handed - cricket & golf, handball and boucing ball - left handed

Me - Right handed - cricket and golf - left handed - handball and bouncing ball - right handed.

Have no idea how that came about!

Any word on how Trengove is traveling?

Apparently a right footer, but throws left handed, bats right handed with an average of 42 and plays golf as a leftie with a handicap of a sore ankle. Cuts the Christmas cake with both hands on the knife. That should just about cover it.

Not sure about training but good to see a few of the boys getting together to play some backyard cricket once the serious stuff finished.

Oscar behind the stumps, Jesse batting, vanders, JKH and Salem all fielding and I think Petracca bowling (out of shot). Pic by Gus Brayshaw.

OMG Is Jesse wearing a West Coast jumper?????

Was he smiling???

when one bats one uses both hands, so it is neither left or right handed

rather it is more a case of left sided or right sided

interesting note. ambidextrous literally means both sides right handed (dexter being the right hand, with sinister being the left)

ambilevous means both sides left handed and is generally meant in a demeaning manner such as clumsy. there is also the term ambisinistrous

Get your hand off it.

THE PEOPLE SPEAK by The Demonland Crew

DEMONLAND - Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland 2024 Grand Final Podcast ... before we took that last phone call from a Demonlander, we were discussing how the club overcame it’s midseason slump, the season-ending injury to Christian Petracca and the loss for a brief period of skipper Max Gawn due to a  crack to the base of his right fibula, to slowly surge up the ladder turning our detractors into believers and how it ended the year triumphant in the finals with our capta

EARLY BIRDS by KC from Casey

Wet, slippery conditions and threatening rainfalls greeted the VFL Bombers at the end of their long journey southeast of the big city on Sunday. The threatening weather combined with the fact that neither side had realistic prospects of advancing to action in September, meant that spectators gathered at a cold Casey Fields weren’t expecting a classic exhibition of football. Nor did they get one. Instead they were presented with a dour struggle that never reached great heights. It was a

    HEAVENS ABOVE by Molly Melbourne

Who said the football gods and scoreboard attendants at the MCG don’t have a sense of humour? The gods spent a whole week teasing Demon and Bomber fans alike about Saturday night’s game. About how the entire match would be dominated by the hulking, brooding figures of 205cm Sam Draper and his 2IC Peter Wright lapping it up in the absence of Melbourne skipper and the club's No.1, No 2, No 3 and No 4 ruckman Max Gawn in the wake of that ankle injury. They painted pictures of Simon Goodwin ne

    GIANT HEADACHE by Whispering Jack

The crack in the captain’s ankle might be very small but the repercussions of the injury are enormous. The aftershock of the news that Max Gawn will sit on the sidelines for the next two or three weeks has provided Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin with a giant headache, not unlike the one he faced after the Kings Birthday when another Demon superstar Christian Petracca suffered his season-ending injury. That headache is magnified by the fact that Goodwin is facing a month of tough encounters a
