Bulldogs and Melbourne the only Vic sides to travel to Geelong.

We've been "one of only two Victorian teams to travel to Geelong" every year for the past 20 years.

Couldn't care less about the fixture.

Only good thing is that we play most of our games at the G in the early rounds which we should take advantage of and come out with a bang.

'If it is to be, it is up to me.' (Us).....

I can cop most of it, but playing a home game against St Kilda, at their home ground is truly horrible decision making.

The one home game a year at Etihad is really pissing me off.

I guess it's better than playing one of the non-Vic sides there and pulling a crowd of 15k. At least with playing the Saints it should mean the game is profitable.

Dangerfield and the Cats obviously decided that the next time they play Melbourne again be put off for as long as humanly possible.

A least we shouldn't have to shut down half the ground to save cash.

What's the break even figure at Docklands? With a bit of form we may actually be able to turn a few $ as opposed to hosting GWS or GCS.

Yeah, and while we will be resting half of our best 22 for the finals as well. Squibs.

I'll be [censored] if they give us Hawthorn as one of our make up games next year. Watching us lose to those pricks by 100 points twice in one year would be more than any sane person can handle.

Hopefully the make up games are Carlton and Essendon.

And yes, the St Kilda game is a joke. Can't wait to see a 30,000 crowd squeezed on to level 3 whilst level 1 is deserted.

Dont every Melbourne based team that aren't a tenant at that hole of a ground Etihad have to play a home game there each year,

due to a stodgy agreement with the AFL to play a minimum number of games there?
I don't see the point of complaining about it when it happens every year and will continue to do so until the AFL buys the ground.

I used to console myself with the dodgy fixture when at least it gave us a plying advantage. but 2 games against garenteed top 8 sides and GC is not good. we will have to improve a bit to win the same number of games as last year and improve a lot to win more

and the fact that not all teams have played each other by round 18 makes the AFL a friggen laughing stock

Will be heading to Gold Coast for an early season holiday and then get to Adelaide for the Power game. Not all that impressed with the fixture. I feel that this is the season for us to prove that we deserve commercial backing. If we can get a couple of big scalps and play consistently well at The G plus having an exciting young team I can't see why we won't start getting friday nights and big games against victorian clubs at our home ground. Playing the Saints twice at etihad is just beyond me.

"This is a fair and equitable fixture " said NO Dee ever !!

Cronyism is alive and well at AFL as it's always been....boys will be boys and these good ol' boys certainly know how to look after each other.

However the Fixture is as its name suggests...fixed and it wont change for next year.

There is only one thing to do as a club, and that's to go out each week and win ( trying your damnedest to anyway )

Go Dees

We leave Victoria once in first 12 weeks to play the GCS. Many winnable games. Did I count 4 interstate away games for the year? I think the fixture is fine, if we're good enough we can easily pencil in 10 wins. If we go on a jeff farmer rampage we'll get 12-14max ;) Famous last words though, plenty of teams wanting to rebound. The fixture is only terrible if you're biased enough to think there is only one club that needs taking care of, there are 18. Many who finished high this year and have worse schedules, clubs who didnt do as well that now have better schedules. We need to play well this year to get favourable prime time drawing spots, then we need to play well for 5+ years and increase membership base for more prime time spots. Otherwise its an unreasonable request that doesn't fit into the reality of afl marketing.

Look at Adelaides schedule for perspective, they play the top teams for the first 10 weeks.. and still continue to play more. If they're not up to it they could only get 8-10 wins max if they beat sides down the bottom only.

I'm nonplussed. If we're to become a good side we are to have the mentality of any team, anywhere, any time.

I believe this is the attitude being instilled and am happy for it.

We'll be right.

As usual more of a TV schedule rather than a football fixture and annoying enough as it , in football terms, it is probably the least of our problems when you look at this past season and failing to beat Carlton, Essendon and St Kilda twice, all teams we would want to be scheduled to play twice.

I don't get particularly fussed about the draw. I know it's not perfect and that our club will suffer more than others until we show we've improved.

But I thought the AFL had said that they intended that in the 2016 competition they would divide the 2015 finishing ladder into thirds (ie, top third, middle third, bottom third) and that each team would play the teams in their third twice and everyone else once. Clearly that's not the case. Am I mistaken - did the AFL never make such a statement?

There are some very winnable games in the first half of the year. Provided we lift another notch next year, we could end up with 6-7 wins before the bye.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
