Like some others here, Michie is impressing me with his development. He had a few really 'quick hands' disposals as a link man out of the packs - usually beautifully weighted to a team mate running past. Such good awareness today, quick reflexes and nice disposals by hand.

Well I went along today and it started off well first off with free entry and managed to snaffle a front row seat. Its really not that bad of a ground and yes it was a laughable crowd but I thought it was a nice atmosphere.

But I walked away happy and excited. We managed to win r1 and now r23. We haven't won in r23 in years, we finally broke the etihad hoodoo and we managed to get one back on GWS who have had the wood over us. We had some nice wins during the season won 3 more than last year and jumped a spot on the ladder.

Im glad people are raving about Harmes. He took a beautiful contested mark I think in the 2nd quarter between 2 gws players. I thought when he has played his pace has been great. Ben Newton has also been a handy pick up. 3 goals was nice from him today.

Loved Vince, Jones and Vineys work today and also hogan. Just awesome when he took a beautiful mark and played on and ran into the opening goal.

Crossy, what a great recruit he has been for us. It just sums him up that in his last game he would end up on a stretcher after going back with the flight of the ball. I think Jones used it to fire the boys up and when he went off giving a wave to the crowd the players were clapping and even our younger ones. It shows how much he meant to us.

Tommy Mac did a great job on Cameron. Howe gave us another screamer.

I just really enjoyed that final 1/2 of footy today. Its nice to end with a win Just hope we can have a good pre season and improve again next year.

3 more wins than last year.

Kardinia and Etihad hoodoos done.

Strong wins against two of the finalists.

8 debutants with all showing promise and some already the surest A graders I have seen in a long time.

Yes there were frustrations but the end of season should be about the positives and there were plenty. First time in a long time that I have been certain we are on the right path.

Another smart trade and draft period and who knows what 2016 might bring.

What's his contract status? I thought he was cooked after the Collingwood game but he has finished the year strongly. He's not best 22 but depth is important and I think he can provide that.

We saw a fair bit of the future today, and it's not doom n gloom.

Note also more than two thirds of the teams will finish the year with a loss, but not the dee's.

Also JKH did his role and was very effective at creating and closing space as required, he invariably delivered the ball to the advantage of team mates. He's not meant to get midfielder stats.

So now we need to listen to how we had a successful year? Pull the other one!

Ive given up ever seeing finals again. We are truely miles off.

Good to see Bernie is already pumped about next year.

Who says the Dees can't win in September haha!! Great finish to the season today. Big preseason ahead for us. Can't wait for 2016!! #excited

This tweet sums up how I'm feeling about today - everyone has mentioned all the terrific positives from our performance, but when was the last time we finished off a season with a win? The boys will be feeling pretty good about themselves and will take that feeling with them as they take a break and then come back for pre-season. It can only be a good thing!

OOC. Suspect it'll be a "let's see what our list looks like after the trade period" case. He'll either be the last signed or the last delisted. Feel for the guy - assuming he hasn't already been told his fortune, he'll have a nervous few weeks ahead.

Being right on the fringe would be the worst.

There is no way Brayshaw has only 12 touches. I felt like he had 20+ easily

That's just proof of how quality his touches are. Imagine how good he will be when he does get his hands on the ball 20+ times on a consistent basis!

I always feel sorry for supporters like you. Every poster here knows there is still plenty of work to be done, however, for the first time in ages we can see some REAL light at the end of the tunnel... yet you can't bring yourself to enjoy it. What a shame.

So what? People whinge about this kind of thing so often they even created a proverb for it:

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with beating GWS at Etihad in round 23 in front of a nothing crowd."

He doesn't bother with dinky handballs to inflate his stats. Hope he can start playing more in the midfield next year rather than the HF role he mainly played this year.

Unfortunately for Michie, there are contracted players who should be getting the bullet before him. He's a legitimate depth player unlike Bail, Terlich, McKenzie and M. Jones.

Don't worry WB these will be the same idiots that will jump back on the bandwagon once we make finals.

So you don't want or need more members dd36?

Idiots money is the same colour as yours.

We need to draft Quality mids and Players who run hard off half back.

With Pettraca to still debut i hope we trade picks at the top end for experience

We need 23-27 year olds Match fit.

Jones will be the only one of those four on the list next year, and even then I'm not totally convinced.

Terlich's contract will surely go in the incinerator, and Bail and McKenzie are out of contract.

Yet you let go the genius who said two thirds of the teams will finish the year with a loss...

I feel we had a good side out there today. Our forward line looks a lot more exciting with Hogan as the main target and several medium targets. Newton, though he has flaws, could be a very important player in our team.

Harmes shows a real asset of physicality which we need, now Salem looks like he can lay a crunching tackle too. JKH was pretty good too. We saw some good footy from our youngsters to bring hope into next season. Those 3 goals in a few minutes at the end of the third were the difference and very abnormal for us

Anyway, a shame that 1/4 of our members couldn't turn up.

I'll miss our all too brief stint of Cross. Not many players get a reception like that after just 2 seasons.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
