Just to clarify, Carlton just traded (effectively) a second round pick and some nothing late picks for four players (two of whom were top 10 draft picks), and we still can't get Tom Bugg traded in for a third round pick. I hope we are looking to add something juicier in to the deal, rather than GWS dragging their feet.

Seriously Tiger, don't know if you've had it broken to you from others on here or in your personal life but you are an absolute bore.

Had we drafted any one of the 'top 10 draft picks' you mentioned above I have no doubt you'd be on here droning on about it.

Simple question: Would you have preferred if we had drafted Sumner, Plowman, Lamb and Philips?

I think they were just helping old mate SOS out. To add pick 8 to that deal is like a gift for Carlton. I think it will end up being a defining trade for Carlton. A lot of those players haven't really had a chance to show their worth. GWS have such an elite midfield, its hard for any of these kids to get a run.

Pick 8 isnt a gift as the Blues gave up the 2016 1st round pic they got from Geelong

They did well in the trade though

Expected to happen very soon.

I'd rather do:

MFC IN: Bugg and 26 (729 points - received from Pies for Treloar... eventually)

MFC OUT: 43 (378), 46 (331), 50 (273), 64 (101).

Therefore Bugg = 354 points (pick 45).

Exactly. love the strategy. GWS need points

10 = 1395

43 = 378

46 = 316

50 = 273

64 = 101

7 = 1644

27 = 703

28 = 677

48 = 302

Bugg = 3rd round pick

7+28 = 2321

We'd have to add in all our other picks to get that done and then be gifted Bugg. If we want that pick 7 I'd be surprised as to how we'd get pick 28 as well.

Brett Anderson tossing up a hypothetical

7 (when they get it for Trelor) + Bugg for 10, 43, 50

I've got a feeling that is what we are going for. Otherwise we would have already swapped Bugg for pick 43 or whatever.

Was helping out with Caulfield Grammars footy side a few years back - Bugg was captain, good bloke, good footy brain, good footballer. If my memory serves me well the Dees were big into him as a schoolboy, however GWS got first dibs as a preselection

I like that we don't have to play slow players like Grimes or Cross on someone like Brent Harvey or Dalhaus or any one of the quick half forwards that usually kill us any more.

We have a legitimate lock down back flanker or wing/centre square tagger.

He came cheaply and is capable of filling a need. Plus he's young enough and skilled enough to be an option going the other way. Even if he's not a great kick a left foot is handy to provide balance and we are now getting up to a decent number of left footers.

Wow, gained pick 3, 7, Kennedy, Bugg and Melksham, gave up 10, 6, future pick, Howe and Toumpas.

Don't know about you guys but this has been a great trade period.

Really like the age bracket of the players we've recruited. All have had a taste and couple of pre seasons. Ready to go to that next level as a player.

Actually think it was 25, not 10, that we had originally!!

I'd love to get Tom Bugg to the club. I rate him as a player and think he's been undervalued at GWS because of all the other young budding 'stars' over there. Also reckon he'd be a great personality to have around the club. Does everything required of him and plays his role week in, week out.

Plus he comes from the Chris Judd stable.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

    Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

    THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

    Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
