Someone put a GPS unit on Roos to check if he is flying up to the GC to get a cup of coffee.

Wow, I am very 50/50 with this one. I do believe we have no hope of getting:

Treloar; Requested Collingwood trade

Prestia; Already turned us down to fulfill last year of contract.

O'meara; Contracted till 2016 and injuries a concern, still 6 or so weeks from starting to run.

So who would be the next pick if Bennell was not avaliable?

Would Matt Sucking be worth a look? Be very hard to get him away from the Hawks i'd imagine.

Also have we signed Harmes yet?

According to the 'Hun' we are not interested too much baggage and I agree!

Next??

At least MFC appear to have the right sources in regards to Bennell. There is no denying that he is a massive talent - as was Dayle Garlett - but.. There are issues there, and there has always been issues there. Bennell was no clean skin prior to entering the AFL, I said that a couple of years back. GC didn't do their homework, and now they've paid that price. I don't want MFC to make that same mistake. We already threw away the 2011 draft, we can't afford to throw away quality draft picks for troubled players. Regardless of their potential upside, they aren't realizing their talent for a very good reason.

certainly not what roos indicated.

"Hawthorn, Melbourne and Brisbane have said they are not in the hunt."

Smoke and mirrors for the next two months...

Others are saying the Hawks are into him.

If Howe goes to GC I would take the discounted Bennell and something else, maybe Spencer for Smith. Why not back ourselves in to help him . He is an elite talent. We passed in Darling and then on Dusty when wanting to leave. Pretty handy players.

Are those calling for the recruitment of Harley Bennell the same persons who were demanding the drafting of Dayle Garlett? We could get him cheap this year.

While the clubs culture is undergoing a real improvement, Bennell is not a step in right direction.

I wanted Dayle, but for less than the Hawks paid. Also wanted Jeff...

HB is a scapegoat, very INTERESTING, THERE WHERE 13 PLAYERS WHO HUNT SAID TOOK DRUGS WITH HIM, since the pictures come out with HIM snorting drugs the other 12 players have not been punished or named, who are they, HB is taking the rap for the other 12.

I remember the last time we didn't go for a player because he didn't look like the of the type of character the snobs at the club saw fit to draft.

We got Sculls and trenners instead of Dusty. mmmmmmmmmmm. I'm all for Bennell.

Let's not twist the past. Scully and Trengove were clear 1 & 2 at the time.

It wasn't like Martin was clearly the best and we overlooked him for behavior issues.

Darling on the other hand....

Aaron Hall would be next off the list failing O'Meara or Prestia. Howe and a 4th round pick for Hall & Gorringe would get it done one would think.

I can't see why we wouldn't have a crack at Bennell. Super talent, hopefully he out grows the stupid stuff.

Roos has repeatedly stated that we need more class, more elite talent.

Bennell absolutely ticks that box.

I reckon Roos will be going very hard to get him.

Roos on 360 was pretty clear...

"We need talent...Harley is clearly talented..."

We simply must make a play for him and back our leaders and developers - Roos, Goodwin, McCarthy, Jones, Jetta etc - to be able to help him become a superstar.

The idea of Bennell and Hogan - who presumably played together at colts level in WA - together is pretty compelling.

yes please!

He clearly has a problem holding his alcohol. Suns just needed to keep him out of the clubs.

Serious ??

How do you keep him out of the clubs?

There are issues all right and we've had players with issues before: Sylvia, Moloney, Jurrah. I don't think it's a good idea. The culture at the club does not need an injection of poor behaviour.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
