GAMEDAY - Round 17

Recommended Posts

I am relying on great commentary from those on Demonland today. I am in New York and have done my bit. Popped into the local church, lit a candle and put in a few requests. One was for a great win today and the other was for Dean Kent's hammy which I heard during the week from my source at Casey was not looking so good after scans early in the week.

Go Dees.

Doesn't the big fella in the sky sorta side with the saints. Should have gone to some devil worshiping joint and sacrificed a baby harp seal or something cute.

Pretty worried about today, we tend to back up our wins with [censored] games

Last week was a [censored] game but a win. Maybe today will be a great game but a loss?

If we can't get up today and turn a corner, I'm not sure where else the wins will come from.

We need to get over this mob today. On our ground, our home. We haven't beaten them in far too long.

Really? You're another to tread that line? You are actually going to suggest that if we can't beat St. Kilda today we can't beat Carlton in a few weeks time?

Seriously. People here need to look past their noses and think bigger than just one week.

we have a better list than both, losing either is an embarrassment as it was a few weeks ago

Looked out the back this morning to see 2 beautiful red and blue king Parrotts standing in my backyard. Guess it can only mean 2 wins on the trot, or possibly we're getting both Danger and Prestia. Or possibly could mean sweet FA. I'm going with the first one

We do have a better list than Carlton, but you could argue that the Saints are at least on par with us right now. Their mids are at least as good, if not better, than ours, they have Roo and Josh Bruce up forward as well who are always a threat. Their backline isn't flash and ours is better but, right now, we aren't really any better than them.

Doing the "big" drive from Geelong to the MCG like i do every week. Hopefully our boys come out motivated from last time, but who knows.

I can cash out through sportsbet for my multi and snare $175, or i can wait and if the dees get up i snare $350. Haven't decided yet.

Hang in there.....

not for mine, i'ii take us in every area other the Reiwoldt, yet they keep beating us, they are better drilled & have a better game plan.

However I'm confident Today, i don't think their style will be suited today & we will finish strongly today

Spot on wiseblood IMO the sides are fairly evenly match.

Roo on one leg is as good as Dawes.

If we have improved we should win and win reasonably well. Last time we played ok against them on a ground we don't play well and lost because of an inept last play. They dont play the G well and Riewoldt is on one leg. I think we have balanced the kids this week with bringing in two mature players who should have some serious desperation to try and stay in the side. As long as we bring the right consistent intent and hold Stevens and Riewoldt we should win and win well.

There's a pretty good Jake Niall article on this very topic here:

Interesting article.

Four out of five list managers/recruiters from different clubs did not hesitate to nominate Melbourne when asked which club was better placed, at this early stage, of their progression. "Melbourne look like they've got some certainty," said one well-regarded recruiter. "You think Hogan will be very good player, Brayshaw will be a very good player. Petracca has great parallels to Brayshaw."

will i be able to park at the G'? I usually turn in off Punt Road but i saw that it is restricted parking today?

Parking never really is an issue as we rarely have humongous crowds.

Follow the MCG on Twitter, They update the parking situation regularly.

Currently on a train from Surabaya...cant wait for the game to start as I have a long way to go...get up the dees, Dawes and co pull your fingers out and get us over the line....

Sadly they dont sell much beer in this country so it will be a differnt/dull way to follow the game.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
