Where was Nathan Jones at the penultimate bounce? Shocking captaincy.

Do not blame Roos

This one is on the players

Flood back and defend

No leadership at all

This ^.

We have been fortunate enough to recruit some of the dumbest footballers to have played the game.

Complete lack of on field leadership, match awareness and football smarts have plagued this club for to long.

We will never improve while these idiots are running around for us.

Answer me this. How can someone take a mark roughly 80 metres out, wait, wait, wait, and then bomb it in high only for an opposition defender to take an almost uncontested mark. Happened all last week and fairly regularly again today.

It's because we move the ball too slowly because Roos plays a loose man in defense which means the opposition have a loose man in defense.

One of the worst games of football I've seen in the flesh.

I've seen some almighty maulings over the last 8 years in particular, but it's pretty rare for, in perfect conditions, to see two shocking sides battling away to see who could stuff up the least.

Junior grade footy. To think we pay our players the same money Hawthorn pay theirs! Joke!

I can't believe that players at this level can't kick both feet for one but read the game. We were to busy celebrating Howes goal, anyone on that field should have been getting the players back. It is basic football, you need to do the basics well and we just showed that we are the dumbest afl football team with zero leadership.

The players deserve a massive whack for one putting in a fourth quarter like that and two for having a footy brain between them.

Last quarter played entirely in st kilda's forward half. Didn't deserve to win.

Michie the most terrible sub for etihad. Should have played someone that can at least cover the ground like Bail. We haven't won there in years because we are so slow and poorly skilled, and it's a quick deck. Basically 3 short in the last quarter with michie and the "first" gamers in stretch and anb.

The thing that pisses me off the most though is that these are the games vince, garlett and lumumba were brought to the club to win. St kilda have loaded up on kids with equivalent picks. I thought Lumumba and garlett were just terrible.

Where have all the 'tyson will win a brownlow' posters gone? Just a good player. Terrible mistake trying to mark that tmac kick on his chest on the wing.

Gawn with the harlem globetrotter tap to space at that 2nd last ball up was horrible too. Had to put it at his feet and lock it in, slow it down.

Good thing i got the $1.80 saints. Melbourne don't know how to win. Couldn't beat an egg.

Toumpas let Montagna kick that last goal.

Toumpas was good, don't get me wrong but his defensive effort at the end was quite poor.

He was ball watching no doubt. Watch him throw his head in his hands after the perpetrator kicks the goal. He knew he stuffed up.

Didn't watch it, knew we'd lose.

Been a member for 20 odd years, constantly brainwashing my kids in an attempt to instill into them to become members forever. This is the final straw, I'm done. Sick of this constant crap we dish up.....Got better things to do in life to do than be constantly disappointed with this.

So for the last time, Wormburner signing out.

I decided to not watch a game a few weeks ago. I had a great day and felt completely relaxed come the afternoon and evening.

Will be doing the same next weekend.

Hats off to the supporters who make the trek next week.

The moment Howe kicked that goal it should have been Brayshaw, Jones, Viney at the bounce and gawn dropped it at his feet, lock it in there, and the rest of the side defending a quick kick out of there, maybe leave Garlett alone up forward

I agree with a lot of points on here

but do people seriously think there is a time out or something that allows this sort of organisation?

Posted

Paul Roos should have relayed the message earlier that if we get in front we flood back.

Don't need to wait until after it happens to do it.

Come on, it's basic coaching.

Lynch on after the bounce said Roos gave the instruction. Definitely told them to get back.

I don't think I'm as angry as everyone. I turned off the tv when Hoew was having a set shot (couldn't watch) then turned it on straight after saints scored. That's probably why...

It should be a set play. they players would have known there wasn't long left, Jones and Dunn should have been screaming to get the set up right.

Is six beers and a bottle of red moderation?

It hasn't helped, still feel angry.

Michie came on as sub. Kicks a terrible floater and chokes near the ball. Both at vital times.

Another to throw in the MFC delist scrap heap.

I'm going to have nightmares of Montagna strolling in to an open goal all week.

At least with the juniors and the kids, the lack of experience provides a reason why things go wrong in the heat of the last minutes.

There is no such excuse for the leaders.

It's ridiculous that there are people on here having a go at Toumpas because Montagna kicked that goal. Not only was Toumpas possibly our best today, but that goal could have been kicked by anyone. A clogged backline would have helped.

FML. Just comes down to silly mistakes and the collection of little moments in the game doesn't it.

We played pretty well overall I thought, better than the usual tripe.

I want more meaningful impact out of Tyson, he just cruises through games.

Had anyone noticed Hogan can't kick 50 metres?

It's almost getting to that stage of the year where it becomes pointless winning games and you just want to see effort and a close-ish contest.

Posted

The player whose opponent kicked the winning goal?

Toumpas let Montagna kick that last goal.

Toumpas was good, don't get me wrong but his defensive effort at the end was quite poor.

No guys.

The culprit was Viney who let Stevens get the ball so easily down to Montagna.

Viney was lazy. Stevens was desperate.

I did the same, but didn't turn it back on until the game was done. Still went off my [censored].

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
