The 2005 premiership team was an anomaly on many levels, including having a terrible average spread of gosl-kickers.  They ranked second last.  Every other premiership team over the last fifteen years has ranked first or second.

I wouldn't use this team or its achievements as a yardstick for anything.  Classic Roos.

Was Dave Misson the fitness coach back then?

I seem to recall they had a simply ridiculous run without any injuries to key players for the entire season.

still reckon we need this guy in our side if it can be done.

he runs and spreads, provides defensive pressure, and kicks goals...when he's able to get on the field.

Roos comment "We don't have a Dangerfield" says a couple of things to me. Firstly Prestia just shortened and it was a veiled comment on our skippers effort. Normally I'm a bit of a fan of Jonesy but he didn't show up yesterday. Not what you would expect of a leader.

Got it from a reliable source. None of this is true. He's just said it so he can fit under Melbourne's salary cap and to turn all other suitors off.

Source? Me. Dreaming out loud.

Exactly what I thought too, but I'm an unabashed Prestia lover. I suspect if he really wanted to get to Melbourne and he knew we wouldn't have the cards to suit the Suns, he'd just need to appear to lower his trade value, but without lowering his contract value. Particularly, as I'm sure we've already offered him a deal. It's just a matter of whether he's conducive to the deal.

We have to get this guys to the club.. I was on the fence, now I think we need any quality we can get..

I gotta say though this seems to be the way Demonland works every week. We have a win and we've got so much inside talent we don't know where to find a place for it all. We lose and suddenly we need mids. I'm of the opinion that we need more A grade talent in the middle as that's where games are won and lost. Not off the half back flank.

Don't know about Silver,  but we need magnum bullets. plenty of them.

The more the merrier.  We needs movers & shakers, only Viney shook up the opposition on the weekend.

Very interesting if true regarding Prestia..

And Tom McDonald is a peanut if he is seriously asking that much.

Prestia is not a Dangerfield....and no one thinks Jones is either so it says neither of those things to me.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
