Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I dialect to some extent we are stalling to see what we can get for him and if no decent trade offers come up, we'll meet the market value contact.

No point agreeing on contract details now only to ask him to be traded in a fortnight.

I have never seen Howe put in a 4 quarter performance in 100 games of football. He goes missing far too often.

If the club really wants 22 "competitors" I doubt Howe is in their plans.

We need competitors, but we also need class otherwise we end up with a team full of players like Clint Bartram and Matt Jones.

As I've said before we seem to either get players who can use the ball or get the ball, rarely do they do both.

He's asking for more than we are prepared to pay - and from what we ( don't) read - more than other clubs are happy to offer to get him.

Sounds like a mercenary who overrates himself. Doesn't sound like the sort of team-orientated person we want. Very disappointed that he hasn't signed on for the sort of money his performances warrant.

Didn't want to lose him - but pleased we haven't lifted our offer. If he goes .. so be it!

Mark Stevens thinks that might be the case. He just tweeted "Jeremy Howe is of interest to GC, but interest not red hot. Could warm up this week with meeting looming ... $$ pivotal in conversation".

All this noise about $$ just makes him look very mercenary.

Surely, he realises a club wants to know he is passionate about them and what he brings to them.

Convince them you love where their club is going and that you will work your butt off to get there and the $$ follow.

His manager has led everyone a merry dance all year, time to end the charade.

And if JH only cares about $$ he is not a good fit for us.

Howe frustrates me a lot but we don't have a need for cap space any time soon and we still have an abysmal overall talent level. To get rid of one of our most talented players (even if inconsistent) because of niggling over price and to not get talent back in return would be a massive failure.

If Howe genuinely wants to stay and is committed to the coaches then I'd suggest we bend the salary structure a bit and keep him.

If we want to move him on that's fine and I get we need to play the trade game. But we better have either a decent draft pick or someone of quality lined up to replace him.

Kicking him out for nothing would be stupid.

Using him as tradebait to try and get an upgrade is smart.

I dont have a problem with this approach, it is a professional sport these days after all.

As long as once a contract is signed the player acts in a professional manner then I don't mind the professional approach to contract negotiations. It's the way of the game now.

This has James Frawley written all over it

No it doesn't.

Frawley showed 10x more in his career at the Demons than Howe has shown. He was AA and consistently shut down the best forwards playing in one of the worst teams of all time! Howe hasn't done much in his career to date.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
