Casboult is a crap kick.

Averages five and a half marks and just under two goals a game. I'd take those numbers over what Howe produces.

Didn't play well against the Eagles.

i won't mention Ollie's best for Port last night either.

Yeah, better not mention him...

After watching the replay one thing that stood out is how it was the most engaged and enthusiastic Howe has been all season. He was right into the game and celebrating goals and seemed very happy. I hadn't seen that in any other game all year even the wins. He was very subdued iafter the Geelong win which I found odd.

Probably cant read too much into things I suppose, but maybe he is staying after all. Or he got word before the game that another team has agreed to offer him a massive contract.

I wonder if Howe is heading to Brisbane. He won't be at the MFC next year.

Part of this article is on Jeremy Howe's futurehttp://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/37991-jeremy-howe-contract-talks/page-27?hl=howe

The article says there is keen interest from several clubs.

His Manager says: “We want them (ie MFC)to put their best foot forward, I’ll look at what his alternatives are and then I’ll sit down with him and he can make a decision...We’re doing what you would expect us to do and that’s maximise his position. It’s a massive decision, so wouldn’t it be smart to get all the information and all of his options? Then he can make a decision with it all in front of him.”

Add to that this comment from Roos yesterday: “We want our players to play and we want them to play well, and we want the player to give the manager correct feedback. If he does that then everything normally turns out pretty well.”

Even tho Roos said he wants Howe to stay the cynic, in me thinks Roos' last line indicates things will not turn out well.

For me, those quotes virtually confirms Howe is gone!

To my mind his performance based value are nothing like his 'market value' or 'marketing value'.

So if his Manager wants to chase $, then fine.

We now have a stack of players with high 'marketing value' that by virtue of their performance will promote our club.

We no longer need his high flying species for a high club profile.

All the signs are there including Roos saying he is wanted, often the first step in negotiation.

These days it's pretty obvious who's going.

Would be happy to bet heavily Howe is gone and Gawn will stay.

I reckon that's a bit of a pity.

His form in the last month has been good as a defender. He certainly gets more involved down back and can read the play beautifully with his intercept marking.

Better get a good trade out of him.

I dont mind one bit if Howe goes, im eager to see if we can bend someone over at the trade table in return for him

We could get a big win here, Howe is average at best but it sounds like some team/teams are keen on him

Yeah we can sugar coat this any way we want but it is sad we STILL have decent players wanting to leave our club. We don't have many players with an elite part of their game and his point of difference whilst not vital is handy. We need to keep a stable list then add to it with some elite talent. To progress we need to keep our first 22 type players.

True - it's all about negotiation. Only 2 other possible statements - silence or please take him away. Roos is hardly likely to say we don't want him, will take steak knives in exchange.

All his statement does is confirm other team(s) are chasing him.

All the important players are re-signing. Only Howe (a limited player) is refusing to at this stage.

It does happen to other clubs as well even the good ones.

Buddy left, Motlop is being talked about, Suckling could leave, Tippett left the Crows, etc, etc.

I suggest that we want to keep him at a price that is reasonable. He is a valuable member of the 22 but is certainly not critical and we would be happy to let hon go for a price.

Add to this the fact that other clubs may see extra value in him as a third tall plus he is marketable may mean we believe that we can get overs on the trade table and he beforehand he can get overs on the cash market. In such a case losing Howe would be a win win.

Like H-H i noted his enthusiasm, but alos noted how engaged other players were with him, particularly after the last goal of the game. The game was dead and buried when he kicked it yet it seemed most of the team wnet to him, like the reaction after a young players first goal. It me wonder if they knew he was staying.

That said i have no doubt he can get a much bigger contract at another club than we will be prepared to pay him so the odds are that he is gone.

So hypothetically if we lost Howe to GWS and got Prestia with that pick would ppl be happy satisfied?

Yes.

If Prestia made a full recovery I'd be laughing. Prestia is a much better player and much more important player (i.e. play making midfielder) than Howe.

I don't really want to lose both Garland and Howe though add i feel that will be disruptive to the backline.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
