Has skills. Hard at it. Loves the club.

What a great pick.

Reckon he'll be a gun.

A statement that has been made far too often over the years of our younger players (Morton, Maric, Strauss, Gysberts, etc etc), but this is one with whom I will choose to agree.

He just looks as if he loves the contest, and gas a great attitude.

How good was his one on one contest he won on the wing where he ran full pace at the contest and just won the hard ball and just burst away with it.

Got the crowd up and going.

A good family friend of ours and a genuine top kid.

As exciting a prospect as Salem & Gus. Has decent leg speed and reads the play very well for a first year. 2nd efforts at this early stage also.

Hogan is the spark that may finally light the fire thats been barely flickering for nearly a decade. We only played a mostly 2nds team on Sunday though so there's much work still to be done. Draft selections will be critical as always.

Another typical DL post. Absolute rubbish. He's done some good things in his 5 or so games and some not so good things.

Great story Dazzle told about him a while ago, sounds like a ripping kid. Love Harmes' infectious enthusiasm, love that he's a Demon through and through and really hope he makes it, but to say he's as exciting a prospect as Brayshaw and Salem is just absurd.

Reminds me of Fyfe. I know I know... but he does.

Been thinking it 24 hours after the game but was too scared to mention it.

Glad you did but lol.

Why? He breaks tackles, attacks the contests like a bull, his arieal work is fantastic and he showed he can take a big grab. He also has that speed to clear from the contest. Like Fyfe his kicking needs working but that will come in time. Not saying he will be like Fyfe but has similar traits.

Very similar traits.

One mark against Collingwood planted the seed but I thought don't be a dick head.

Then he took the early mark yesterday ... but when he got that hard ball on the wing that rammed it home and I thought I'd be a [censored] and post my thoughts.

Harmes was great when he attacked the ball in the air; that brought it down so that Garlett was able to rove it and then do that short pass to Hogan (instead of shooting at goal). If you look at the replay, Hogan thanked Harmes before Garlett

Very impressed with him this week. Great attack on the footy. It seems the rest was needed.

His contested marking had me thinking we would not miss Howie so much if as expected he jumps ship.

Needs a tank. Biggest difference to Fyfe. Harmes is not a monster athlete. He just isn't. He is worth persevering with, but let's not get stupid about this. Fyfe is a freak, Harmes is a rookie.

Each to their own MW.

He is a pre season or so behind them so not expecting instant miracles and not saying he is a champion in the making either.

Just saying as a new prospect he looks as exciting to me as Gus & Salem.

Emphasis on "propect" might help u calm your excitement a little. Lets see how he's tracking in a few years eh.If I was likening him to a Fyfe I could understand your hysteria ^_^

I had him being delisted before he played a game but that was simply an exercise in probabilities - a second year Rookie yet to play a game half way through the year - that usually means deletion.

Now he would be a monte to be on the list because IIRC a rookie to get a third year requires going back through the ND and PSD and he won't survive that.

Still has time on his side. I'm starting to worry about the Cockatoo-Collins brothers though.

Went to school with those two for a few years, they were freaks at lunch time, took a few over my head that I wasn't expecting. Don also got suspended from school footy for headbutting a bloke from the opposition!

With his body size, good overhead skills and aggressive style...imagine what he could be as an on baller once he gets a tank.

Along side, vandenBerg , Brayshaw and Petracca, we start to develop that big bodied midfield unit that may be hard to stop in a couple of years.

Why not mature age "Rookie" Trengove Not that I would keep him, but might placate a few on this site.

Would free up another spot??

I like a lot of what he's done but I wish he was a bit more selfish around goal. He seems to try and pass the ball when well in range for AFL standard players. Once he takes the responsibility on himself and kicks running goals from 40-50m out, he will be very handy. He plays a similar role to Kent, who loves a goal and takes it on. Harmes will need to improve in this area if they are fighting for the same spot.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
