Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hunt is training so hopefully he is able to play VFL in a week or so. And where is ANB? Is he ready to go all of a sudden?

ANB played in the Casey 2's last week and went ok on 50% playing time from reports.

Yes good point CHF he did play the development league and hopefully Hunt can gear up this week. Any idea how ANB went?

Interesting comments in the Herald Sun Barometer: We look at every team after Round 4 and how they are shaping up in The Barometer

MELBOURNE

INJURIES

Jayden Hunt (back) 1-2 weeks

Christian Petracca (knee) season

Jack Trengove (foot) season

Sam Frost (foot) 4-6

Dean Kent (hamstring) 10-12 weeks

Neville Jetta (concussion) Test

ON THE BLOCK: Its hard to see Paul Roos making any forced changes after such a spirited win. Dean Kent will miss 10 to 12 weeks after he elected to have surgery on his injured hamstring. Jack Watts lifted his intensity after a disappointing performance against the Crows and laid four tackles along with 14 disposals and a goal.

ON THE CUSP: Jack Grimes was named best on ground for Casey in their loss to the Bulldogs, while Jimmy Toumpas gathered 28 touches and applied seven tackles. Toumpas for Kent would make sense, while Grimes has certainly done enough at VFL level.

ADAM BALDWINS FORECAST: While Melbournes win on Friday night surprised the competition, those within the walls of Demonland were quietly confident going into the match. The Demons now have the attacking weapons to compliment their pressure game and made Richmond look second rate. Jesse Hogan, Aaron vandenBerg, Christian Salem, Ben Jacobs and Viv Michie have changed the look of the side and even the most cynical Dees must acknowledge the worm has turned. Fremantle is one of the form sides of the competition, but as St Kilda proved last year, it can be done.

I don't know who this Ben Jacobs is but Ben Newton says "hello".

Ouch! 'Rookie Mitch White missed last rounds VFL due to a toe injury. He had an accident on the gym, where he dropped a 50kg dumbbell on his toe, which didnt tickle, he said'.

Understatement!

Extract from Misson report: Jetta to miss more than one.

In summary:

Sam Frost (fractured toe) 8 weeks

Jayden Hunt (back) 2 weeks

Neville Jetta (concussion) 1 week

Dean Kent (hamstring) 12 weeks

Christian Petracca (knee) season

Jack Trengove (foot) season

Jack Viney (fractured fibula) 2-3 weeks

Mitch White (toe) available

Looks like Frost will be out longer than expected. Impressed that White is available after dropping that 50kg on his toe!

Jetta set to miss again

Can't be too careful I suppose.

Hopefully Neville pulls up ok for the Hawks clash next week.

Melbourne injury list: round six

Chris Dawes (calf) – test
Sam Frost (toe) – 4-6 weeks
Jayden Hunt (back) – available
Neville Jetta (concussion) – test
Dean Kent (hamstring) – 10 weeks
Christian Petracca (knee) – season
Jack Trengove (foot) – season
Jack Viney (fibula) – 2 weeks

Have to say I'm a bit confused with the concussion guidelines. Didn't that Adelaide player (forget who) get knocked out, carted off the field and then played the next week against us a few weeks ago? My understanding is that they judge the recovery by doing the concussion test that is judged on responses by the player taken from his baseline answers, is that correct? If so I think you may need to be look at Nev's baseline data?

Must have been a big whack.

No wonder Footballers from the 60's-90's are now having problems.

Nev's had a handful of concussions since Christmas, hence the conservative approach. It's not from just the one incident.

I thought Roos said a couple of weeks ago that Jetta had sufferers a couple of knocks over a short timeframe.

Given Bail and Jetta seem to get concussed running through the banner, why don't either of them wear a helmet? Just crazy.

Probably because there's no evidence to say they prevent concussion.

Thanks guys. I find that really surprising. From memory Jetta's recent one was Howe sailing through for a mark and his knee glanced Jetta across the temple. Would have thought some padding there would have helped enormously.

I think the issue is more the "wobbling" of the brain rather than the actual impact, this is why a helmet may not help as you would still get the wobble if you know what I mean

A helmet would make the impact longer though which would decrease the impulse. Then surely the brain would be 'wobbled' less?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
