What's a frawley?

Frawley: Frah-Li. Rhymes with 'creepy crawley. Small insect that claims to have red and blue blood and a heart that beats true. On further inspection has no stomach, brain or ability to lead and requires a yellow and brown anus to closely follow otherwise would lose itself and curl up like a slater. Cashturnal: only seen at contract time.

All those who have spent the last few weeks feeling sorry for themselves and suffering badly from MFCSS need to have a good look in the mirror. Pick 3 was never in doubt and was set firmer in concrete when Freo put in excess of $600k over 6/7 years on the table, forcing the hand of the other clubs wanting him

Time to realise not all is doom and gloom, toughen up and play our part in setting the new culture as a club

Greg Swan, take your whinging...tumblr_lsch8cEm2V1qea74a.gif

Says it perfectly!

Honestly, what an idiotic pack of trolls these whining clowns are. Try addressing the core issue of stronger teams annually poaching the lower teams before trying to rob the victims of free agency of their rightful, mandated compensation.

Is it draft tampering for club A to make an over-the-top offer which they intend to withdraw if the player surprisingly says yes? If not, I can imagine deals being done between mates at different clubs to push up a departing player's value in return for something else in the draft. (Not saying it was in this case of course, just wondering)

Can't wait for the abuse to roll in from the other clubs but it's exactly within the rules of F/A.

People will whinge about how Buddy went at pick 18 or whatever, forgetting that if the Hawks had finished 2nd last in the same year they would have also received pick 3. Too many people look at it as 'one player is better than another, so the picks should represent that'.

Sorry, but that's not how the system works at all.

There's going to be epic whinging over this.

We've arguably got 'overs' for three free agents - Scully, Sylvia and now Frawley.

Might completely change compensation for free agents going forward.

Supporters whinging about losing Frawley and not being fairly compensated is perfectly fine.

Considering the AFL haven't exactly bent over for the MFC of late, I understand the concern of supporters.

Also media outlets suggesting last week Frawley would only command 400k - only adds to the concern.

Pick 3 is excellent compensation for a good stoppage backman, with limited skills, poor decision making - and below average execution.

Yes especially how we have become so successful because of it.

Still confused to how this works... free agency doesn't finish till next week. So do we have the pick now to trade which presumably makes us ineligible to recruit free agents? Or do we have to wait until free agency is over as well as the matching period for rfa leaving only 1 day to use it in a trade?

I'm glad we have pick 3 but haven't seen anything to clarify this situation.

I would be very happy to keep 2 &3 for brayshaw & one of the two big boys

KingDingaLing, that's the best summary of Frawley's abilities yet uttered

Yeah well we got pick 49 or something rubbish like that for BOTH of Moloney and Rivers, so this evens it up somewhat. The whingers can get stuffed.

Lets not [censored] it up for a change.

Hello pick 3 and to a semi professional LaCrosse player that Cuddles Connolly/Garry Lyon met at the pub one night who was thinking of having a run around in the EDFL twos to keep fit. ;)

Hoo Effing Ray!

Farren Ray has retired although Neeld tried to get him too.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
