Very happy to have a durable, premiership playing, all Australian select us.

He is a strong trainer who sets a high standard in preparation and recovery- something every developing list needs.

Cameron Bruce was the last player I remember running and breaking the lines off half back for the MFC; I look forward to seeing it again soon!

His the type of player we have been missing since rivers left, he will bring some expensive in the back line which we desperately need.

We haven't had a good run and carry defender since Oze retired.

Exactly the type of run and spread from the back line player we need.

a deal still has to be done with a belligerent club known for over valuing everything that was theirs while suggesting everything they want is of a lessor quality so should be compensated for the difference. I wonder if this deal will actually get done.

They effectively told him to go so in the end I cant see why they wont do a sensible deal.

I am genuinely very happy about this.

Despite him not being the best kick in the league, he has something we are crying out for. Which is some serious drive and willing to take the game on from the backline. We are so stagnant and one dimensional with our hitting up options target, it will be great to see how Roos implements Lumumba's running and drive to shake up how we transition the footy.

If you look at his stats for this year..they were better than they were in 2010 when they won the flag!

Hope we get a fair trade!

" The club is keen to secure the services of disgruntled Magpie Heritier Lumumba and is open to trading one of its first round picks, especially if the compensation for James Frawley’s exit nets it another top-three selection, to secure a quality midfielder. If we spent a first round pick on him, I'd be appalled.

But generally, pleased with the idea of grabbing him, plays a role we need.

The sanctimonious way he leverages issues in order to build his personal 'brand' irritates me.

But hey, it's not like he's [insert long list of things that a number of Melbourne players have done over the years which we all seemed happy to forgive at the time].

I think it means give up one of its first round picks for a quality player in the mould of a Tyson type in a separate deal, not for Lumumba who will be traded possibly for Mitch Clark?

I'd take Heritier in a heartbeat.

Let's not forget we currently have less than 20 AFL level players on our list, each year we get the chance to add 3 or more, Harry (Heritier) would be one, straight up. With some good trades, we could add 5 AFL grade players this year and for the first time in many years, have some reasonable quality depth.

I'd be rapt to get him. Perhaps the upside of someone with a strong moral code is that he can see the righteousness of Roos and where we are going. Oh and the fact 'the Demons were believed to have offered superior financial terms.'

But seriously, a vote of confidence and he is a good player who can carry the ball forward. As if we are in a position to knock that.
Will be the only player in the side who has been selected in an AA team. Durable too.

Jamar says hello...

Thats what I assumed to be honest, but the wording is fairly ambiguous. I'd be devastated if we used a first round pick on Lumumba.

Surely as Clark is contracted he goes where he is bloody well told.

Other way round pal, as he is contracted he has every right to reject a trade.

Absolutely stoked to read Someone chose to come to melbourne. Not only to I think we desperately need a line breaking half back, but it shows any other players remotely considering melbourne that an AA player at one of the biggest most successful clubs of the last 10 years wants to play for us. The fact that he has gone early and announced it is even better.

As for those saying he is just a slight improvement on terlich etc...... Our hbf would not get a game at any other club in the afl, grimes included. This guy's resume slaps our half back line in the face

I wouldn't believe much out of Collingwood atm, I have a few connections with the club and all have said that the coaches personnel management skills need work - it's a 'my way or the highway scenario' and players are choosing to take the highway.

It's up on the MFC website, not sure what that indicates however.

If that's the case fair enough then.

Lets not welcome him just yet. we still have to do a deal with the filth.

Not really as hard as made out. MFC and CFC have long horse traded between themselves.

Yeah but Collingwood want overs for everyone. Already they're trying to screw the Queensland clubs to the wall over the Beams deal and the poor bloke just wants to get back to his family.

They have to start being reasonable about it or no one will want to deal with them.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
