Offer Dangerfield whatever he and the Crows want.

Seriously we don't have one game changer in our team

With him and Hogan we potentially have 2

He'll raise his own revenue

Time to be brave Time to own our future

AFL trade rumour Facebook page are saying we have offered pick 2 and either Trengove or Toumpas.

It was Olisik that posted it, so Grain. Salt.

I find it amusing that some are happy to give Pick 2 (or 3) and Toumpas, yet aren't happy to give both Pick 2 & 3. Some would rather us keep one of those picks, then spend the next 3-5 years developing them, yet aren't willing to give Toumpas, a former Pick 4, any extra time, although he is only two years in to HIS development.

Amazing.

If the deal is Pick 2 and 3 for Danger and their Pick 10, you just do it.

I'd throw the picks at him, players, cash, women, the kitchen sink. I don't care, just get him!

In an ideal world we could go pick 2 plus a player I'd take it anyday.

Second option would be pick 2 & 3 for Danger and 10. Would still take this every day of the week it as over time it has looked like:

2008 - Nicnat & Hill for Danger and Davis (Sidebottom was pick 11)

2009 - Trenners & Dusty for Danger and Melksham

2010 - Harley & Sam Day for Danger and Gorringe (although Lynch was there at 11)

2011 - Coniglio & Sir Dom for Danger and Sumner (Greene, Docherty, Taylor Adams and Devon Smith followed in the draft)

2012 - O'Rourke & Plowman for Danger and Daniher (Menzel and Jaksh the next two picks)

2013 - Kelly & Billings for Danger and Freeman (with Sheed, Lennon & Dunstan to come)

It's rare that pick three is that much better than pick 10 anyway if we don't manage to completely shank it.

Not sure why people aren't jumping at the chance of bringing arguably the most damaging mid/forward in the game to our list.

The guys a genuine superstar / match winner / player that will get bums on seats!

7th in the Brownlow in 2012

4th in 2013

5th last night

We are instantly a better team with him in instead of fart arsing around with draft picks... again!

While most Demonlanders are willing to give Toumpas more time to make it as an AFL player, he isn't worth pick 4 anymore. He hasn't shown enough at AFL level to suggest he will develop into anything but a good/average mid-paced receiver with good foot skills.

And he is from SA and picks 2/3 will be Victorians, which have the advantage of less flight risk.

Keep hearing that 2 & 3 may be future champions tearing it up later, but so could 7 & 9, 10 & 12, or any other round 1 draft picks.

How many of these top 5 draft picks would you consider champions tearing it up, a sample:

2006 - Gibbs, Gumbleton, Hansen, Leunberger, Boak - asside from Boaks breakout year there is only really Selwood at 7

2007 - Kreuzer, Cotchin, Masten, Morton, Grant - Dangerfield (10) Taylor (17) & Ward (19) standout

2008 - Watts, Naitanui, Hill, Hartlett, Hurley - many good playes but no champions in the first round

2009 - Scully, Trengove, Martin, Morabito, Cunnington - Talia probably the closest at pick 13

2010 - Swallow, Bennell, Day, Gaff, Polec - all good players with maybe one potential champion, Heppel at 8 is the standout

2011 - Patton, Coniglio, Tyson, Hoskin-elliot, Buntine - Wingard (6) and Greene(11) maybe

2012 - Whitfield, O'Rourke, Plowman, Toumpas, Stringer - Wines is the champion but he came in at 7

In reality a top 5 pick is only likely to deliver, at best a good player. The champion players are just as likely to come from anywhere in the first half of the draft and reflects that there is still so much undiscovered talent and unknown development to take place in an 18 year old who hasen't yet come close to maturing physically and mentally.

The risk is not losing picks 2 & 3, it's not having some picks in the first round to have a shot at a potential champion. Anothe big factor is where this draft sits in relation to other draft years, is it a year like 2003 where hardly anyone came on or 2001 that was just laden with gold.

If danger is available just get him

Putting aside the how, I think it is the why that counts. Judd to Carlton (and that cost them Kennedy) and Ablett to Gold Coast has shown that a marquee superstar has worked at developing a club and getting over that hump to clear the bottom. Murphy and Gibbs have developed with Judd there to take the heat as have the GCS players with Ablett there to take the heat. The downside is that even now when Judd & Ablett don't play the team slips back. GWS didn't really go for a marquee mid and still struggle or should I say their elite mids have taken longer. You can never have enough A grade mids and you want them to kick goals. Selwood went at I think.

I still think the club would like to keep a high pick and go after Brayshaw as he did a pre season with us at our invite and would be still on our radar.

My mail is

Pick 3 and toumpas for Dangerfield

Apparently the crows expressed an interest in Tom McDonald or Jack vineyard and got told where to go

Just as a hypothetical id expect the club to want change ....i.e a pick also in return...say the Crows 2nd rounder...which will probably end up hovering about 30 to make it more legit.

Seems a tad fetched-a-la-afar for mine but the silly season does produce some interesting results. :)

I would say the Judd to Carlton thing has been a massive fail. The club has built itself to an average middle rung team who really don't have a lot of upside.

The jury is still out on Ablett and GC. He is a great player but I would be very concerned at how his teammates fell in a heap when he wasn't on the ground to hold their hands.

Adelaide will want 2 and 3, we will want Dangerfield and their first round pick, to make it work I think swapping second round picks will also be needed.

All we need is Danger to want to come to Melbourne and Frawley to announce that he is off with the AFL giving us pick 3.

It is going to be a long three weeks

I see the Ablett deal as a huge win for GC, but it needs to be remembered that they didn't give up anything for him other than salary cap space.

Disagree.

Carltank did the same as us, terrible recruiting.

GC is still a very young team, how were we when we lost Jones last year? That's the point, bring MORE talent in then if you lose one you can cover.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
