Some hypothetical’s around Dangerfield to Melbourne.

Given the AFL’s alleged interference in trying to engineer Buddy to GWS (which ultimately failed), would they prefer the marquee free agent to get to a ‘battler’ club like us to dispel the perception that free agency just benefits the strong clubs?

It’s just one of the litany of ‘bad looks’ for the AFL in recent years, and has really destabilised the equalisation conversation, so wonder if they would attempt to ‘influence’ this situation to give them some PR credits in the debate and redress the imbalance of high end free agents just picking the strong clubs.

If we are pursuing Tom Lynch, might we persuade them to not match a contract offer for Danger by offering overs for Lynch?

How much they value Lynch could be the kicker here, but it could be a way for them to get a pick(s) from both the AFL for Dangerfield's compensation and us, giving them a greater net benefit.

You've just got me even more hopeful.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was part of the deal (tactics)...if we are in the running.

It can cost though 'Mach5', we've got to make certain we can pay who we need to keep and be able to build a strong list.

The Franklin deal looks to have backfired at Sydney and may yet be one of the worst in recent memory. They have little to no depth and lost big 'Mummy' and he was probably more important than Franklin to them.

Judd cost Carlton more than Kennedy and it's only now he has gone that Cripps has had the opportunity to show what he has.

I've been around long enough for Templeton, Moore, Croswell, Tillbrook ....to know that if we get Danger it's not the answer. It's just part of a much bigger puzzle that might lose some important pieces along the way.

You forgot Carmen!

Just thinking about the Danger to Dees scenario.

If by some chance this does happen, I'm buying shares in Kleenex as there will be a sudden rise in tissue sales!!!

tears of joy??

only the poor mans Lynch.

Where did you hear that? Because this bloke plays the role that Howe plays in our forward line. If we are after him - I think we have made our decision re: keeping Howe.

Just supposition but something to ponder...

Got a friend who works at the club in a non-football role (doesnt barrack for MFC) who says there is excited talk about Danger just lately.

But it may mean nothing... Im sure there is plenty of excitement all the time. I hear excited talk for example how sick you must be to not kick over a jam jar.

Youve got the lot. Havent seen him for a few weeks and it was the 1st thing I asked. We were doing kick to kick and run throughs and I was out of puff. He doesnt BS though, and he laughed and said it how he saw it. I laughed too, ran 50 metres and put my hands on my knees. He shot through before anything else was said.

I believe it when I see it!

We have a Buckley's chance of getting him.. His mgr is prob just trying to get him more $$ from either the crowd or the cats...

fFree agency will/has players naming their price as the talent pool is tool small for so many clubs.. Top teams trying to stay in the premiership clock...

I guess that's equalization the afl are taking about!

Throw everything at him. Let him live out in Geelong. Buy him a car and pay his fuel. Pay him extra to spy at Cats training.

5 years, $5 million frontloaded so he gets 1.5-2 in the first few years.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
