GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Agreed. Another dumb-arse Schwab idea. Surprised you let that one slip through to the 'keeper WYL

Not as dumb as giving it to HWFUA.

Should of kept his No. 16

I found that to be the strangest and stupidest idea,

Grimes was making his own name and reputation with 16. It was purely marketing driven and completely pointless.

Really wish we could take a lawsuit out against him for malpractice or gross negligence.

How does he walk amongst the afl world knowing he quite possibly singlehandedly destroyed a football club. A helluva thing to have on your CV.

Until the club actually improve we are still linked to the past.

Its just the reality.

Just paid next years MCC/MFC Membership

$721

Is that ok? :)

The #11 should be retired forever.

Wonder if there's a similar argument for Grimes. Has regressed since taking Barrassi's 31 (on Neeld's advice...another Neeld pearl of wisdom).

oh come on, have we regressed to numerology now?

Well.....it is very very clear that Jurrah became only half the player he was when he switched from #48 to #24

So you think the club has not improved, it was not all Schwabs fault, this club has not had a board or CEO that knew how to run a football club they just left it to the CEO and that has been the problem for years, whilst he clearly made some bad decisions that should not have been made no one from the board challenged him, they just left it to him no wonder we went backwards.

Of course he wasn't the only one.

But as CEO he was in charge of running the club.

Responsibility falls on his shoulders.

That's how it works.

The two worst decisions were the appointment of Prendergast which I think was made before he took office and the appointment of our previous Coach.

We are where we are because we had the worst drafting record of any club in the last 8 or so years.

If we were successful on the field the off field would have taken care of itself.

Football clubs are judged on on field success not the balance sheet.

Ask any Demon fan what do you want a flag or a $5m dollar bank account.

I know that, but ask the average fan what they want, a flag, or money in the club account and we know the answer.

yes we do. And that is exactly why i despise the previous strategy so much. It was the exact opposite to what should have been done.

I realized this once Luke Ball was over looked....

This club has always been obsessed with numbers.

When players on higher numbers improve people start frothing over moving them 'down' from 47 to 19 because 19 is a number you have to 'earn' or something.

It's all absolute poo. Player comes to club, player gets available number from 1-54, player plays career in said number. Really can't stand all the 'he's earned a move to a lower number' crap.

Whilst considering our bad drafting record over the pre Roos decade, you might want to also consider our trading during that period ~ virtually non-existent. The combination proved lethal.

I like a player changing/keeping his number because it means something to him, but moving to a "good" number just because seems silly to me.

For example, Rohan Bail is a 44 because that number means something to him. I wouldn't want to move him down to a "better" number for anything, even if by some miracle he became the next Gary Ablett (presumably after abduction by aliens or some other equally unprecedented event).

Jack Grimes would have been welcome to move to 31 if that number were particularly special to him, but just moving him there because it was Barassi's number is superstitious at best and "masterbatory" at worst.

EDIT: Can't believe that third last word is censored. What kind of world do we live in where "shitful" is fine, but you have to misspell a word like masterbatory in order to slip it past the keeper?

Saints under Ross Lyon were worse IMO.

The word censor list comes from a common one used online. It misses some words and includes some others may not agree with (such is the nature of lists created by humans), and never gets reviewed.

Next time, instead of chucking a nana about it, send Demonland or I a message about it and we'll review it.

We are now up to page 13 on a thread about a player who retired for health reasons - and has said or done nothing to indicate that his illness is now well behind him - and who has said or done even less to indicate that he is planning a return to AFL football.

We should respect his decision to retire. This thread should retire as well.- and not reopen until and unless Mitch announces that he is making a comeback!

I think as faithful demon supporters who've weathered the past 8 seasons and then some, we're entitled to hang on to whatever hope there is.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
