Demonland Player of the Year - Round 18

Recommended Posts

6. Nev Jetta, who was outstanding all day and laid (what should have been) the game-winning tackle

5. Dom Tyson, two critical goals and a strong game in the midfield

4. Bernie Vince, another midfielder who gave us some run and clearances.

3. Lynden Dunn. He and Jetta have been our only respectable defenders this year

2. Mark Jamar. Several towering marks and a lone hand in the ruck.

1. Jack Viney. Meh. Why not? He played all right I guess.

6 Tyson - give that man a Brownlow

5 Jamar - gave our mids first use all day

4 N Jones - some really composed disposal when we needed it

3 Jetta - well and truly beat his man and gave us great rebound

2 Viney - never stopped working

1 Frawley - great marking. Could have been a great day had he kicked straight.

Special mention to Kent for that final quarter, Watts for that third quarter, and Bail for that phenomenal goal.

6. Dom Tyson - our most influential player on the day.

5. Neville Jetta - didn't completely subdue Wingard, but was as steady as it gets.

4. Mark Jamar - gradually took a strangehold of his duel

3. Nathan Jones - can't knock his workrate and endeavour, just needs to quell the "me, me, me" aspects of his game that creep in.

2. Colin Garland - had a terrific second half

1. Jack Watts - changed the game in the third quarter.

6. Jetta - what an absolute revelation! Work your magic on a few more Roosy!

5. Tyson - a star in the making. They can't tag everyone.

4. Dunn - sure and composed, as he has been for most of the year..

3. Jamar - gave our mids first use and clunked some telling marks. Loved his physicality.

2. N.Jones - typical (wysiwyg) game from the skip.

1. Garland - signs that he's working back to the form of 2013.

6 - Dom Tyson - dominant display after a quiet few weeks, the Bluey is still in reach

5 - Nevilla Jetta - most improved player in the comp surely. Beat Wingard for the 2nd time this season and hes been in AA form since coming into the team

4 - Nathan Jones - 31 poissies, 5 tackles, typical Jonesy game

3 - Rohan Bail - worked tirelessly

2 - James Frawley - best game in a while, like him better as a forward these days

1 - Mark Jamar - dominated Lobbe

6.Tyson - back to what he was doing earlier in the season, BOG today in a losing side, worth Pick 2 alone

5.Jetta - got the better of Wingard again who is one of many who Jetta has got the better of this season

4.Jamar - beat Lobbe but also imposed himself around the ground,

3. Garland - best game for the season and used the ball well setting up rebounds from defence

2.N.Jones - after a slow start broke free from Cornes and had influence on our clearance wins

1. Can't separate Viney & Frawley both had quality games today JV is going to be very special and influential for us for many years and only some bad finishing sees Chip this low down in the votes

Watts, Bail and Dunny can all be considered unlucky amongst others who all put in today and executed the game plan

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
