Fair point. I agree he sweats on the ball too long at times and just doesn't pick options quickly enough. The time spent in the twos might be giving him the chance to improve this side though. I reckon he looked a little more like "he belonged" at AFL level today than i can recall even though i still saw moments of the above. Lots of faith that he (Roos) will get this side right and looking forward to watching him improve.

Still looking for the Toumps weapons. Early days I know but he is not big, not fast, not sure of his tank and his delivery is just OK. Just asking, wishing for enlightenment, that is all.

Loved the game, so good to see a team of Demons stop the Tigers from getting their running game going - they exposed us a few times but we held them really well with our intensity. So good to see our midfielders work so hard to get first use of the footy and spread so beautifully - loved it. Our back line is killing it at the moment and we're reaping the rewards of them getting their hands on the ball.

He is a great kick, overcooked a couple today, but also delivered some pearlers. Thought he was OK today, needs to play on after he marks more though.

Toump, Salem and Watts all have superb kicks... They just need to use them as the weapons they are.

If we're going to descend into throwing insults at each other, I think it's probably time to close the thread. Mods?

Not the thread Ralph just the posters.

I like our winning threads.

Ill swallow my words wattsy, last week I bagged you for not showing enough application. Well, im sorry.

If damo barret doesnt call the dom tyson trade a win this week for both clubs, he should quit purely for showing he has no footy nous or ability to reevaluate his failings. He wont, but it shows even more the credibility of him.

Exciting to watch the boys play when you almost know they are going to give 100% now.

Jack Watts - has been full of running in the last quarter, this week and last. Looks like he may be a player after all.

lol... Im amazed that its taken two pages for his name to come up.... Jack was clearly one of our best today!!

We beat Richmond and this turns in to a Toumpas thread. Good lord.

Look at Pedersen under the coaching of Paul Roos. I feel like if he can become an AFL player then so can the Toump.

Anyway my favourite player for today was Nathan Jones. I'm sorry Viney, Tyson, Vince, Cross, Pedersen, Jamar and Gawn but wow Jones was at his maniacal best today.

But my second favourite was and is my second favourite in Col Garland.

Unfortunately my least favourite was Jack Grimes. I can't help but think moving him in to the midfield has fried his brain that was just starting to come back to him at the Adelaide game. Please please Jack can you find your urgency, vision and skill with the ball (by hand and foot). You've got it in you I know!

Amazing win! Check the scores in the changerooms after our win today and let out the biggest YOU LITTLE [censored] BEAUUUTY!!! Turned to two other teamates of mine who are melbourne supporters and gave each biggest high five going around! We were more excited about this win then us just beating the top side would you believe it or not lol.

Btw first time Viney, Toumpas, Tyson, Salem and JKH all played together today. You could build a seriously competitive midfield out of that lot!

Ps: To Picket Fence go and EAD and take your Toumpas negativity and shove it up ya. Your a sad individual who share the same similarities as Damian Barratt.

Great win. Loved the fact that we were tougher than them;.Hardwick conceded that himself. So nice to be supporting a team that gives effort at last.

And for all you Neeld haters...sure, he was the wrong appointment, and clearly wasn't a great coach but some credit where it's due. He was the one who pushed the button on the Pedersen/Gysberts trade, and much more importantly, the Dawes trade. Without Dawes we don't get over the line against any of the teams we've beaten so far.

I have to draw attention to our backline brain fade, rancid skill, weak turnovers and especially the ones that lead directly to scoring shots. We have got to eradicate this or the really good teams will annihilate us.

Matt Jones at least makes up for it with some great forward run.

I still can't completely trust Terlich in a one-on-one contest, kicking inside defensive 50, or decision makling in a handball chain. He works very hard and takes some good intercept marks but he is always a bit shaky.

Tom Mac is frightening on the run. Tall, quick and often beats his opponent but he is in the Ben Holland class of "please handball". His decision making is frightening.

Howe's turnover was a genuine howler (no pun intended) but he had a great game.

I don't know what the answer is but it makes my guts turn when at the game. Are Terlich and T Mac solid in their positions?

There's a bloke called Grimes whose horrid kicking and decision making resulted in three direct goals to the opposition. You're right. At least, Jones gives us something else and Tommy beats his man one-on-one, so I forgive some of their brain fades, but Grimes is captain. He'll get surpassed very quickly unless he learns how to kick and make much, much better decisions.

He's played 17 games and is basically still a kid, give it a rest.

He is just not up to it! Period!

I recall you saying how soft he was. Didn't appear too soft when he stood his ground under a skied ball on the members HF and got pole axed

My god there are some fools just because jimmy is not played as good as wines does not mean u give up on him, the posters who have called for him to be delisted is just stupid, not many players have been as good as wines first two seasons, anyway we don't need him we have vinny, who will turn out much better then wines.

That was right in front of me. Was nice to see him get up and even though he wasn't keen to kick and winced a lot until he went off he had to fight through it a bit.

Obviously you don't want guys getting injured but the message to Toumpas is clear. You sat under a high kick. You went for the ball and drew a free kick. And it might have hurt but your survived and are a better player because of it.

Anyone else feel Salem needs a run in the 2s? I thought he looked slow (probably not used o the intensity and was tired).

He only picked up 8 touches from a full game.

Whatever Pedo has in his water bottle this year I want a crate load of. From being a train wreak last year to a solid team player this year is amazing.

The next time you see JKH play watch the speed he gets to his feet after a contest to compete again, I cant remember anybody so fast as him regaining his feet and getting to the next contest.

GREAT WIN.

I think that Pedersen just needed to feel that he was wanted and part of a team culture. Roos has made him and the other players feel that way.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
