Promising news I hope it's accurate. Sylvia leaving to take Michie's spot in the Freo best 22 should be the card we play to convince him Freo wont give him the opportunities he needs right now.

As for the trade I'd say our third round pick - 40 ish. But it looks like Freo could be in the race for Elliot Yeo more than they let on but can't match West Coast second round pick, if we swap second round picks we put them in that race.

Could be an opportunity for us to trade our second and fourth round picks for Freo's second and third round picks and Michie. Ie. pick 21 and 60 for Michie and pick 33 and 55 or whatever it will be. That would allow us to pick Michie up and get our 4th pick in the draft within top 60 range. Considering everyone is saying this is a shallow draft it might be worth downgrading a touch early to get the later picks in and keep our third rounder. Of course if we end up trading pick 2 we probably want to keep the second round pick as low as possible as it will be more important to get one of the best quality young guys.

Not sure of your logic here 'master', if it's a shallow draft then the question is how shallow and maybe picks in the 30's would be worth very little. Anyway, if Roos and the boys are after Michie then I hope we get him.

How do you know he's a certainty?? or are u going off the afl trade whispers??

He probably reads BF and saw this posted not long ago by an Essendon supporter. Of course someone like this bloke wouldn't say so from the outset.

"Probably already mentioned in here but have it on good authority Viv Michie will be signing with the Dees. Good kid with a lot of potential and I think given the chance in your midfield could turn out to be a decent player."

This guy's spouting a lot of certainties the last few days, wouldn't pay much attention.

Apparently Tom Gossage reported that Michie has turned down Freo offer and is set to sign with the Dees.

Viv Michie a ceratinty to come to the MFC

Great get for the club

Will bolster the midfield immediately, the boy can play and not in a plodding non impactful Matt Jones way, Michie will influence gamea and help make us better

Cheap shot at a bloke who came into the worst midfield in the comp and held his own all year. Yes he trailed off slightly towards to end but his 4th place in the bluey this year should remind you about the impact he actually had.

On the Michie front - if he is keen to come to the dees we should try and get him into the PSD. Bugger forking out our picks for him if we can play hard and get him cheap. Need to get some mongrel about us.

Not a cheap shot at all

I lover Matt Jones, he was fantastic and there is a spot for him in the team for sure

Yes I remember this kid from the under 18s. Very talented and appears only to be held back by injuries.

Exactly the potential "steal" we need.

Worth the risk for a pick 38 exchange.

He is not worth pick 38. He was Pick #44 and in 3 years has played one game due to injuries. His value or worth hasn't gone up. He is worth round 4 at max - if that.

We'd be better of wrapping this up with a late pick due to Carlton interest.

i agree , why try and be too cute. Just get a deal done and be done :)

I had never heard of Viv until the start of this thread but now badly want him to come to the club for mainly completely irrational reasons

  • Sylvia has gone to Freo and i desperately want Michie to be better midfielder than him
  • Like the romance of a kid cruelled by injury, only playing one senior game in 3 years, returning home and bursting onto the scene and ripping it up for his new club from day one
  • Love the name. Viv Michie. Calypso Cricketer meets Pooh Bear, but most of all I want him to come because
  • He wants to come to us. One of my favourite players already

Having played one game in three years because of injuries would start ringing warning bells for me.

I guess we could reserve another seat in the stand for him to watch the games while sitting next to Clark and Dawes.

It is a concern, but 4 things interest me.

1. Fremantle are keen to retain him

2. Freo supporters bar none really rate him

3. After virtually no preseason he won Peel Thunder's B&F averaging 26 disposals and regularly being tagged.

4. He's only 21.

Played something like 18 WAFL games this year averaging 25 disposals per game. Just wasn't seen as ready for the Ross Lyon system where he only plays 1 or 2 kids under the age of 24 usually.

Missed the first 2 years with foot injuries but I think a lot of that was them being very cautious with him. Not sure it's of much long term consequence.

As for the player himself. If we do land him, I've got that fantastic feeling that he could seriously be a massive get for us down the track.

He went late in the draft due to injuries and he's had an injury interrupted first three seasons. Managed to put in a decent pre-season for the 2013 year and ended up dominating for his WAFL side and winning the B&F. If that doesn't excite some people, I'm not sure what will.

I'm not counting my chickens, but I've seen the guy play and if he can stay on the park from now on, I'm sure he will do some damage wherever he ends up.

It was a navicular bone, if it has healed then there is no reason not to get him.

This guy interests me more that any other of our gettable targets.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
