Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He played 16 games this year and still won Peel Thunders BnF award.

Freo supporters rate him highly and think he was ripped off not getting games when blokes like Neale, Sheridan Crozier were getting games when they weren't even domination the WAFL. Viv was very consistent this year averaging about 26 disposals and pushing forward to kick some quality goals.

Big Bodied, Quick, Great kicking skills, Clearance machine, big time ball winner, Hard Trainer.

Just what we are looking for - a diamond in the rough (underrated due to injuries and a strong Freo midfield)

We need to take risks and if we can keep him on the track he would probably already be our second best mid.

Would be rapt with this pick up.

Would be happy to land one big fish with pick two and a couple possible diamonds in the rough like this kid.

Is at the age where he has the potential to really start impacting games.

Steady on. Sam Blease can average 25 touches in the VFL which is better than the WAFL. But they way this guy plays indicates he should make the step up. Still wouldn't put him passed Jones, Viney even McKenzie or Trengove but he'd sit comfortably on that next level with guys like Toumpas, Matt Jones and Evans. Would be a very good get.

McKenzie is garbage. If he isn't twice the player McKenzie is I'd rather not waste our time. But I suspect he'll be far superior. I'd also expect him to be better than Matt Jones and Evans, who I don't overly rate. I'm probably a bit harsh on Jones, but he's just a player.

Blease averaged 19 in 8 games this year.

McKenzie is garbage.

Another point of difference in an otherwise aligned commentary.

Can win his own ball, can tag, can lead. Cruelled by injury this year playing with difficulty and when he came back did some terrific jobs on Ablett and Griffen to name a few.

No play maker but will play 150+ games for us.

I don't mean to speak ill of young Jodie, but lord help the club if he is a 150 + game player for us...

We should be trying to improve our midfield as a club, and as a supporter of the club you should start raising the bar when it comes to judging a player's ability.

I know you sponsor him and to use a Brereton euphemism I'm sure he's a ripping bloke, but he's also a hack. Good VFL player at best.

If Roos rates McKenzie I'll be astonished and disappointed.

I can categorically state that Viv is a better than McKenzie. I'll add Bail, Matt Jones, Magner and Evans to that also.

The guy is a player.

Jesus, this guy must be a superstar

Whatever it takes, get him

Could've got to 25 with more regular midfield time and consistent VFL appearances whilst building his fitness post the early injury. I expect Michie to be better than Evans and Matt Jones as well but he's not yet, let's see what happens if we even get him!

I think you are wrong on McKenzie. I'm hoping he's over the achilles trouble that plagued his preseason last year. I know he can't hit the side of the barn kicking but I think his tagging and clearance work and mental strength make him very important. Late season he did great jobs on Ablett, Dangerfield and Griffen and I think Roos will be keen for a tagger.

If Roos rates McKenzie I'll be astonished and disappointed.

He rated Kirk, Ben Mathews, Crouch, Amon Buchanan, Luke Ablett and Paul Bevan enough that with a decent chunk of talent around them they became premiership players. McKenzie might not be Kirk or have any Ablett genes but I'm a believer in him.

I don't want to go to the footy when he's listed as playing.

Utter hack.

Come on Ben that's the kind of comment that make people think you are a tool and then disregard the rest of your comments.

I don't want to go when Blease, Watts, Davey and Bail are in the same forward line but I'm happy to go with McKenzie playing because I know he'll have a crack.

Utter hack is a tad harsh.

I think McKenzie is a victim of injuries and utterly poor coaching.

Guy can't kick, so he must be a tagger... Please... The one glaring good skill he had early on was his handball in close, people spoke about Scully and Trengove's hands in close, McKenzie was better. Very creative and accurate at both AFL and VFL level early in his career.

Then got injuries and made into a pure tagger.

He should've been developed as a Cross type, not a Clint Jones.

It is clear cut for this guy, spend next year at Peel Thunder and hope the Dockers have injury problems or move clubs and increase your chances of playing at AFL level. Then next call is what club does he want to play with, a club like Melbourne a poor team with no midfield were he could get 15-22 games next year or risk going to another club that has a decent midfield that he still might sit in the VFL.

Ive seen him play a few time live, and on TV (WAFL). Whilst he looks like a good prospect, the WAFL is a far cry from AFL.

Some of the posts in this thread make him sound like he is an absolute gun in the making, but in my opinion he might turn out to be Cam Pederson Mark 2. (picked up from another club seeking more opertunities in the AFL, Looks the goods at VFL/WAFL level etc )

I'm sorry but comparing him to Pederson is absurd. Viv is a 21 year old midfield/half forward who has been deprived of AFL matches because of injury. This year was the only year he got a decent pre-season in and performed consistently well at WAFL level to win the B&F for his side. I'm sure there are a few reasons he wasn't gifted games in Freo's side but it's obvious from an outsiders point of view that they have a strong performing midfield which would be hard to crack into for a guy who's probably been told he needs a solid block of games in the seconds. The best clubs in the league with the strongest development programs never gift their young players games. They ask them to play specific roles in the two's and get them playing consistent, team first footy.

Pederson is a 25-26 year old position-less spud who the Roos clearly didn't want to hang on to and Neeld and co stupidly signed for three years. They are completely different players who weren't getting games for completely different reasons and they are 4-5 years difference in age.

I agree STMJ the comparison is unfair.

I can see how playing WAFL etc isnt the same as tier 1 but there must be some indications. He looks like a decent player. if he is the type that can be developed im all for it.

he does strike me as trying to make of his opportunities what he can

Speculation however I think we will be ahead of a few other clubs if we make a move for him soon. Carlton are tied up with savage and a few others collingwood with karnezis and jesse white and hawthorn with longer. If we really do want him then we need to act soon. Not saying he'll have the afl after him but being proactive is the best way to combat other clubs interest.

A close (and only) source of mine has confirmed Melbourne have targeted him. Fremantle want to retain him and stated "it's up in the air, and down to Viv". That's all I can give you and won't disclose the source any further.

Thanks Ignition

Being valued by Freo after all his injury concerns is high recommendation. Hopefully Viv may feel in need of a change of scenery and the draw probable spot in an AFL team

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
