last time we played them , we had enough of the pill but slaughtered it going through the middle

was hoping this time were better prepared to handle the corridor a bit better

We can all dream jazza but alas I think this might be another nightmare

I am

I do every week and have furious debate with fellow demon supporter who thinks tipping is about winning.

it does explain why he is near the top and I am near the bottom on the pubs ladder

I continue to tip the most advantageous results to get us near the top so far this strategy is not working

I assume you understand that the concept of tipping is that the result of the game affects the tip and that it's not the other way around.

Grimes third game back after injury, Howe will be up and about this week, Trengove will continue with good form and Viney will be like a rabid dog at stoppages.

No Moloney for the Lions either.

Dees by 22 pts.

ffs Brissy are 13th on the ladder. This is neutral turf, although it is more like our home game as we have played up there several times and trained up there. We have 1 player missing from our best 22. We won a match 3 weeks ago and gave a good showing against the swans. Last week we got shown up badly by a quality side with a big home ground advantage and wet weather that heavily disadvantaged us. I expect us to win this match.

Is anyone tipping us this wk?

Yes I've tipped and put $20 on at the TAB paying $4.90, don't think we're without a chance

You expect way too much.

Brisbane aren't world beaters but the absolute top limit of their play is to beat Geelong. We play a half reasonable game against Geelong and concede a world record I50 differentiation. Of course Geelong at the Gabba and mentally cruising is much different to a fired up Geelong in the wet at home but it's still a big leap.

Brisbane definitely have their limitations but they have some forwards who can hit the score board - Brown, Zorko, Merrett (if forward), McGrath, some defenders who know how to get the job done - Patfull, Adcock etc and most importantly when it comes to beating Melbourne they have an even spread in the midfield even without Moloney and Black. The Rockliff, Redden, Rich, Hanley combinations are too strong for us. I'm not sure of the stats but I think Raines has a decent record of subduing Jones as well. If there is one glaring advantage they have over us on the ground it's also in the ruck. Leuenberger is knocking on the edge of elite where as big Gawny plays with a good spirit but I think will find Leuenberger too crafty and athletic. I'm hoping Fitzy helps out in that regard because it wont be a day for big forwards in the slippery conditions but big Fitzy could use his speed around the ground to help mop up balls on the deck and get involved when in the ruck.

I'm hoping the slipping and sliding nature of a Darwin game can help Watts get involved as he did very well in a Darwin game a few years ago. Besides from that we will need Blease, Kent and Davey to actually find space and do something. But it will be all for nothing if we can't get some clearances out of the middle. If we are any chance to win we will need some of the Vintage Sylvia from that 3 game stretch in 2010 or whenever it was where he actually looked like a semi decent midfielder!

The 29.5 line for $1.90 might have been a smarter choice. As I said above I don't think we can win but certainly Darwin and the heat and slippery nature of the game lends it self to a close result a bit like wet weather and also with the fact that if a team tires due to working hard early the other team will come back hard.

In fact Sportsbet are offering a generous $7.20 about a Melbourne/Brisbane Half time/full time double. Considering we'll be keen to start the game well as a home game and have some familiarity with conditions I wouldn't be surprised to see us lead at half time only for Brisbane to come over the top and beat us just like they did to Geelong and North recently. That's the value bet if I was splashing some cash.

LOL, old dee. You would seriously have to be mentally impaired to drink that rubbish.

I'll stick with the Little Creatures Pale Ale.

Get on the Dee's mate. Your optimism just might help get them over the line. ;)

We play like we did against the swans, we will at least come very close. I actually see this game going right down to the wire.

You missed my joke McQueen

That is exactly why I said Emu Draught mate

It turns you still does it not?

Unfortunately I lost all my optimism around July 2011 and it has not been seen since.

Johnno Brown out for Lions

huge out

Stating the obvious I know.

If our midfield can come close to breaking even we will win.

Would anyone think that instead of Dunn maybe using Pederson as a defender to take the 3rd tall. Pederson seems to read the play well especially from the back line and seems to be able to take marks in the backline in the vfl, if he could play on the 3rd tall and hopefully be a cut out player to take either intercept mark or spoil? I think he would fit the role quite well.

That would be nice, but he seems totally incapable of doing that at AFL level.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
