Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN

Reported in the Age that we're interested.

"Meanwhile, Melbourne has expressed interest in Port Adelaide midfielder David Rodan, who is likely to be cut by the Power. Rodan is not a free agent."

Goddard move to Windy Hill looks a Don deal

An aging player with three knee reconstructions who struggles to get a game at Port Adelaide.

Surely not?

Rodan ? No

Probably thought Port had a Rodin.... that would look good upon Schwabby's desk :)

could he be a cheap plan B for a smaller crumbing fwd ? Once made a bit of a name for hinslef doing just that.

Still...is a perhapps odd choice. But one does get the funny feeling there will be some odd selections this year. If not odd, certainly the less obvious !!

As in mentioned in a few posts.... it's going to be about the role the player might be able to fill.

On the surface nah I can't work out why we would be interested, but maybe if there is a specific role.... smaller crumbing forward as mentioned above... who knows.

Hasnt had a proper preseason in 3 years so could be worth a punt, his best is very good.

Can also dance very well.

True.

We could have the best performing players review if we manage this right.

Going forward the makeup of the list will be long termers, kids coming in being developed and a squad of Role-playing bought-ins.

If they canplay this role for 2-3 years until the next role -player is bought in what is the problem ??

quick answer. There isnt one..Its all in the heads of followers/supporters who continually miss the poiint that there is a job to do and you simply assign able people to do jobs.

Some folk seem to think its about building some long line of true-bloods to carry the flag held high into battle ...all very theatrical and Cecil B De Mille...but you dot win wars nor premierships that way my boy.

and quite frankly I dont give a damn !!!

If the FD think he can do a job.. hire him

Agree. We need to recruit so as of next year we can play the structures and game style we'll be playing in 3 years. If that means some short term stop gap solutions while we work to develop a younger alternative then thats what we need t do.

The recruitment period

  • The Free Agency phase - is generally only going to deliver us player with a "lifespan" of the next 2-3 years and ready to go in 2013. Low risk, moderate reward and moderate price (no picks but lots of cash)
  • The Trade period - would ideally deliver us players with "lifespan" of 5-7 years and ready to go in 2013. Low risk, good reward but high price (i.e lose high picks and lots of cash).
  • The Draft - will provide us with players with a lifespan of 10+ years but unlikely to be ready/prime for a couple of years... High risk, high reward with moderate price (high picks).

Getting the balance right between these three elements of the recruitment period is key to our prospects in 2013 and more importantly our prospects of pulling together a premiership winning team in the next decade.

It's hard not to like Rodan, but what's the point of a club in our position picking up oldies?

youth policy is great but all out youth policy not great. takes 2 years to develop then in the current climate change of club is inevitable. i.e., Scullywag.

balance is the key here. iPod at the Cats is a great example and they're going to do it again with Rivo(who I hope we keep). If Rodan's knee is ok and if not too expensive he might be good.

Put him on the rookie list on minimum wage and he can play for his supper if he is interested. I certainly wouldn't give up players, picks or more than a few bucks for him.

i thought there was no longer a rookie list - can someone who knows please advise.

There shouldn't be any issue with age - the Bailey era plan showed that all out youth just doesn't work. I'd be all for him but the question is whether or not he is fit enough to get on to the track and have any kind of impact.

Put him on the rookie list on minimum wage and he can play for his supper if he is interested. I certainly wouldn't give up players, picks or more than a few bucks for him.

This is what should be done. I thought he had been delisted, or is about to be delisted so we wouldn't have to give up anything anyway?

He can play. But can he still do it next year?

Other than Blease,Nicholson and the injured Bennell we have no one who can run faster than me and that is saying something. At least this guy can run and spread. Certainly not the worst idea I have heard.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
