2012 Draw snippets

Feel free to boo him because he left, but don't boo him for accepting money.

Otherwise we will be epic hypocrits when we cheer for Clark (not saying it was just a money decision, but that is how it is perceived by most)

Also interesting to note that the compo pick received by GWS from Adelaide is potentially worth less because the Crows play both of GWS and Port twice.

You'd assume that's 4 wins guaranteed, even though you can't be sure with a showdown.

GC won't be the easy beats in 2012, although I doubt they'll be pushing for the top 8.

They'll likely just be like a "normal" middle rung bottom 8 side.

Won't be long though.

Hope we play GC twice too :D

Yes and no. I don't want to make the 8 on the back of a soft draw, unless we have consistently shown that we can be competitive against decent teams.

The fact we had a soft draw this year makes 2011 even worse than what it appears. With the draw we had, we had a huge chance to play finals this year and didn't, I like that we may have been "gifted" 8 points and I like it that we'll be able to see the Dees crush the Giants into the turf on the G, but I want us to earn and deserve a top 8 spot.

If we made finals last year, Bailey may still be our coach, and we may not have experienced the sort of positive changes we've had during the off season, including a new and improved coaching panel and Mitch Clark.

Not that I enjoyed last season, but I think in the long term it'll be remembered as a season which helped us make the required changes to get better.

Certainly true, and I don't count 2011 as a total write off. Games into players is still development, and as you've pointed out, finals would have won Baily another contract and we wouldn't have had the sensational off season changes we've seen. Mitch Clarke would likely not be a Demon for one.

We play the GWS twice, both in the second half of the season....

Are the AFL trying to give the Demons a leg up ? Surely not ! The Lions 1st up at the G as well !

All we need now is once only games against the Cats , Pies , Hawks , Blues , Swans , Freo and the Eagles ( The last 3 at the G )

Don't want a soft draw but you don't look a gift horse in the mouth either .

That soft sort of draw comes at a price though - zero excuses .

I think the AFL are well aware that the Debt has been paid off by supporters, and our membership and Sponsorship numbers are going up. So yeah my first thought was that AFL HQ are at least giving us the carrot to improve.

Footscray and Nought Melb are much Bigger concerns....Even Port are not such a worry now the Adelaide Oval is going ahead....The AFL just have to wait on that one...

Supposedly we get to play GC & GWC twice - hopefully that will just be four wins of many! Nothing wrong with being an optimist! :)

Last i heard the Australia network which is sent to asia is no longer showing AFL or NRL (a Rudd decision) whether that has changed i am not sure. You may have to watch it online 45.

Interesting little run in mid season:

Round 11 (QB) Melbourne v Collingwood

Round 12 Bye

Round 13 Melbourne v Greater Western Sydney

Not often you get two byes in a row.

(We should be well rested for our blockbuster against GWS.)

There's only one single reason why GWS plays North and us twice. Demetriou considers us teams that GWS might have a chance of winning against.

Also, i suggest we all carry big bags with $$$$ signs on them to wave at $cully each time he gets the ball

I don't know about North, but I can think of one other reason we play GWS twice...

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
