Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

I reckon Melksham is listed simply as back up for Hunt if he doesn't get up.

I'm surprised about Hannan though. I would have brought in Harmes for Hannan. Bugg did enough last week, so rightly keeps his spot in the 18 this week.

Perhaps, they want to play Hannan more in the midfield this week. He only had it 9 times last week, but I like his pace and his ability to snag a goal or two. Harmes had chances last year to cement his spot and now it's Hannan's time.

What I'm hoping is that Harmes has improved his kicking and decision making so much that when he finally gets his chance again, he is a real weapon as a utility, either off half back, in the midfield or as a pressure half forward. The exciting thing about Harmes is his ability to consistently win the ball and gut run late in games.

So I think it'll be an unchanged line up unless Hunt fails to get up. Real pity about Jesse not being available as he plays well against the Roos. Just glad he sounds like he's recovering well from his op though.

I just get the feeling with Hannan that he could be close to a breakout game. The confidence he would get from that could be career changing for him.

He has some tricks. He can take a grab, kick one in a pack, is not slow and has a bit of height. We haven't seen his best, but the real question will be, is his best good enough.

This pearl of wisdom is from the North page on Bigfooty.

"I think an agressive Preuss in the middle might actually rattle the Melbourne midfield, especially him crashing in against Oliver and Viney when the ball hits the deck."

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, I nearly fell off my chair reading that. Clearly the poster has never actually watched Viney play!

Might be hard to do that when you are not selected.

Such a huge game for us. Firstly in the context of our season, a loss would set us back big time in any finals hopes. Secondly because North have had the wood over us fora long time, I don't care what the club says I'm sure it's in the minds of the players. Thirdly after such a fantastic win last week we need to prove it wasn't an aberration, that is now the standard.

I expect north will come out with a fair amount of intensity, it's what got them the chocolates over Adelaide and I'm sure they'll want to test our metal.

That said I honestly feel our midfield is one of the best in the comp this year and that's where it's won. Get on top in the midfield, deliver with purpose to our forwards and we'll win.

God I really want this win!

Agreed about our midfield. It hasnt been rated by media in the past but when Viney plays his best and combines with the young gun Oliver and old guns Jones and lewis....its pretty awesome.....even without our start ruck.

I agree, there is something about him that I really like. Considering where he has come from, I think he has a lot of upside too, and would be giving him a solid block of games to prove himself.

After every single shitty thing that has happened to this club... whether it be things that happened this week or 40 years ago. Surely last weekend was the moment we've all been waiting for. Surely it was 'The Game' that changed everything. That the players now truly believe that their best is the best, but they have to bust their ass off to get the job done. Every. Single. Week.

Everybody knows that North will have a crack. Let's just hope we 'crack in' even harder and smash these pricks.

Breakout games and "the game"? Really?Too many here trying to be a bit profound.

IMO there is no such thing. It's an uneven progression with a trend. We are on  the up.

If you think otherwise I think you're in for some disappointments.

Waite, Mullett and Garner (and Swallow if he turns the clock back) are good ins for North.

Going to be very tough to get this win.

Waite will straighten them up and is in terrific form, but the other two blokes do little for me.  In and out of the side, they won't add all that much more than the blokes who have been dropped.

Very happy with no changes as the 22 who won last week deserve to have another crack at it.  Hopefully Hunt gets through tomorrow's training without any problems and can take his place on Sunday.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
