  1. yeah, and to make it even tougher, why not a spot of eye-gouging, or since that is contact above the shoulders, how about twisting the oppo's balls. .

  3. Very easy line to draw. No feet up with studs exposed to an oncoming player. Immediate free kick and suspension. A gutless act. If it was so acceptable then why is he the only one who does it repeatedly. No one else does it because they understand the game's morality.

  4. Bloody hell mate, @dieter himself will tell you that I am about as far from a "bleeding heart liberal" as you can get. But on this, I am 100% opposite to your opinion. What Greene did was not tough footy. It was a coward act from a bloke who was scared of contact. A stop to the face could easily remove someones eye. Think about what you are saying.

  5. So I noticed yesterday morning that my Rams hat had collected a bird poo on it sometime Friday. Now I really want to clean it off but since we won I’m not sure... but I also don’t know if it occurred before/during/after so I can’t tell if it’s now my super lucky hat or just a hat with poo on it...

  6. Incredible artwork. Wouldn't mind Jetta and Tom Mc popping up somewhere as they have also been thru the really tough times and are champs in their own right!

  7. You ever been kicked on the footy field, man? What a stupid comment.

  8. That he continues to put his studs into people is disgusting, the AFL has had the chance previously to stamp this out and didn’t, they have created this mess. That said, it just goes to show that Toby is a dog of a person, actually kicking out with his studs first, lovelife...

  9. He had 12 touches with 100% disposal efficiency 'A F' plus 5 tackles not sure what you are seeing here. Looked very composed and safe with ball in hands to me...

  11. It was more than Richmond like, Richmond tackle in numbers and are quick to pounce on the ball carrier but our boys tackled with a ferocity like I haven’t seen in a long time. Geelong players were hit hard, thumped into the ground and one tackle (forget who it was, watching replay tonight) the Geelong ended up on his neck and shoulders. They didn’t expect what we gave them and it left them hurting.

  12. He's not using the kick to protect himself, he's using it to guard space. He's actually kicking out at an opponent and that's kicking in danger. No need for a rule change. Could also be seen as a kicking report if he makes contact, and he does. Knee up for protection yes, foot up questionable but kicking out most definitely not.

  13. Just watch this filter down into Junior footy, the kids are always emulating what they see from AFL players. It's a shocking look and if it's allowed to continue it only a matter if time til someone gets a serious facial injury. Outlaw it ASAP in my opinion.

  14. How is a foot different than an arm? Perhaps it's because players don't wear studs on their arms.
    6 points
  15. This is a disgrace and he needs to be rubbed out. It's simply dangerous. Not only that but a player is protected from front on contact via a free kick. If you want to remove that protection then fine make it a free-for-all but its there to stop a player from being poleaxed front on. A knee is totally acceptable and is a very natural action to protect ones genitalia. An outstrecthed foot with studs has the potential to do serious damage. Luke Dalhaus last year was very lucky he wasn"t injured more. Greene gets fined last year and it will be interesting to see what the new MRP does with the golden child club.

  17. vs Hawthorn Round 4: Players: In: TMac, Viney, Tyson, Vandenberg, Weideman, Spargo Out: Lever, Vince, Hogan, Bugg, Garlett, Kent, Wagner Game Plan/Tactics Players were played out of their normal position eg Salem in the middle; and in the name of flexibility mids became forwards and forwards became mids. They looked like Brown's cows and were getting in each others way. Now players are in their best position making the most of their strengths. Forwards are forwards and mids are mids. Forwards have developed their craft and work as a cohesive unit rather than confused individuals. We had no midfield that day: Jones tagged Mitchell all day which took him out of the game. Without Viney and Tyson we had no real grunt. It was Gus' first game so it was pretty much Oliver playing a lone hand. Now we have a master tagger who also gets plenty of the ball: Harmes. And our midfield is close to the best in the league. Then we had players off the back of the square. For the last month we have played mainly 6 x 6 x 6 and we no longer allow them a spare in defence Then we played a very high press and left their fwds behind us with lots of easy goals out the back. Now it is much more man on man and we stay behind their forwards and/or keep a sweeper down back. Other More belief and confidence in themselves and each other. Players and coaches have developed with 6 months experience. Much more team oriented Our tackling has become ferocious. Lots and lots of reasons for optimism folks! We simply aren't the same team. The Semi will be very different to that game! I reckon for the first time in many a year the Hawks will genuinely fear us. If not it will be at their peril.

So yea I knew we would win . well still very nervous , but I knew someone was watching us not that i believe ion anything like that , but too many things happened last night to say we would mark

  20. When they played the national anthem, the Melbourne players and their coach stood as one with arms interlocked while their Geelong counterparts stood as individuals. It’s all about the team and not individuals and our boys played like a team all night - the others played for themselves as exemplified by their captain’s tantramous exit onto the interchange bench in the third quarter when he robbed his team of a certain goal at a crucial time in the game.

  21. Have just fallen off my chair watching Kane Cornes telling anyone stupid enough to listen that what Greene does with his kicking leg is fine. Wow! Last year he kicked Dalhouse in the face, yesterday he kicked a Swan player in the chest, tried to kick Ahir and chipped another kick to Jones. How can this behaviour be acceptable??

  23. Our entire team has developed in leaps and bounds this year - so many players have improved. Salem's year has been outstanding, and has flown under the radar. In my opinion he is in our top 6 most important players. He's our jared Mcviegh, just controls the ball out of back line with such confidence. His 30m kicks inside are deadly, and he is probably the best decision maker in our team. Not too mention that he is hard as nails, loves lining up opposition players and laying huge tackles. I can see him playing well into his 30's. An absolute gem of player.

  24. 19.2.2 Specific Offences Any of the following types of conduct is a Reportable Offence: (a) intentionally or carelessly: ... (ii) kicking another person; .. (vi) engaging in rough conduct against an opponent which in the circumstances is unreasonable; ... (h) attempting to kick another person; 15.4.5 Prohibited Contact and Payment of Free Kick A field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against a Player where they are satisfied that the Player has made Prohibited Contact with an opposition Player. A Player makes Prohibited Contact with an opposition Player if the Player: ... (d) unduly pushes, bumps, blocks, holds an opposition Player or deliberately interferes with the arms of an opposition Player, who is in the act of Marking or attempting to Mark the football; ... (k) engages in rough conduct against an opposition Player which in the circumstances is unreasonable; It is unsportsmanlike, dangerous, goes against the spirit of AFL. We don't need another specific rule that says "you can't raise your foot in a marking contest"; the rules are already there. The AFL just needs the balls to charge him. It's a disgrace.

  27. This is an epic goal post shift. You’ve gone from endorsing Greene’s actions, about how tough he is and should be left alone, to rambling about the toothless MRP and how “the players have to police it”. The players should police a legitimate, tough tactic?

  28. 'Unduly rough play' seems to cover it. That would be the general one they could use. But as you point out Earl, there's no specific rule. Apart of martial arts, which sport permits an opponent to intentionally kick out at an opponent? Martial arts don't wear studded boots. It's a bad look, not in the spirit of the game and his intention wasn't self preservation, which is why I believed it to be within the rules. Clearly he was removing his opponent from the contest. I reckon he'd stop doing it pretty damn quickly if he was aggressively targeted in the same manner.

  29. Toby Greene needs that offending leg dealt with, like broken, so he like “doesn’t do it again” it is a very poor look to the game. Similar to GW$ actually

  31. How in hell is intentionally lashing out with a studded football boot in accordance with the guiding principles for the Laws of the Game in relation to player health and safety? It has nothing to do with protecting Greene in his attempt to mark the ball and all about his intent to harm opposition players. It is essentially kicking in danger. A violent act by somebody with a history both on and off the field. When I played footy, that would have seen the offender decked and later cost him 4 weeks courtesy of the tribunal AND being labelled a kicker. If Greene is allowed to get away with what he is doing it makes a mockery of the rules of our game.

  36. was sitting next to a cats fan, he said to me its only good if your dees win by playing the right way, I said to him at least we don't practice ducking like selwood. Over celebrating, get of it no one warned us for over celebrating, it was only Judd saying that rubbish, if Judd never said it that would not even be in your post. You want to see over celebrating watch the way Geelong celebrated after they beat us after the siren, our celebrating has not even been over the top its only been like every other team. Don't make me angry, it's as if we are the only ones who aren't allowed to celebrate. He does that after almost every free kick paid against them every game, the media have to come out and point this out, no other coach except for his twin carrys on that much after frees against. He is the biggest sook and that kind of unsportsmanship behavior should be singled out. That man normally has a dress on, not that there is anything wrong with that.

  44. Charlie Spargo – 5 The first-year youngster was not overawed in his first final, but as you would expect he did not have a lot of impact on the game. What he did best was dish the ball to teammates, ending the night with three score assists – the most of any player on the ground.
