  1. A player who has zero patience for his career. He's success hungry now and I expect every single player to be having this same mindset. Just a champion growing in front of our eyes.

  2. You can't keep all your favourite sons and in reality it's better for them to get out and experience other clubs. Great news for Nev, times are tough out there and these jobs are limited with the soft cap squeeze.

  3. If he comes to us, it's a significant win for the club as he's a talented player with a point to prove who will provide excellent depth in our midfield and cost us nothing. If he ends up at Essendon, he's a NQR with dodgy disposal and they're welcome to him.

  7. Cam Pederson won his 2nd B&F in the West Gippy Fooball league. He won it in his first year in 2019. 2020 season was cancelled and he won it again this year. Been playing in the ruck.

  8. Anyways, time for me to bow out. The approaching 5,000 posts seems like a reasonable effort over the journey. I know I kicked up a big stink late last year and stormed out of the forums due to a plethora of negative [censored]-stirring posters, only to be dragged back into the fold - but I'm glad that it happened and I got to experience a flag with you all, with a special shout-out to some of my favourite members who have held their nerve over the past four years, as well as those who I have been lucky enough to meet in person, thanks to Demonland (so much appreciation), and those who have reached out online for various reasons over the course (and of course you all know who you are). I will probably stalk a bit until I can fully break the D-land habit. But best of luck to everyone though - please be nice to each other and you're welcome contact me at [email protected] for any reason. And long live the Dees!

  11. • BREAKING | Geelong has traded Nathan Kreuger and pick 55 to Collingwood for pick 41. And in one fell swoop, the Cats achieved what everyone thought was impossible. They managed to increase the average ago of their list!

  14. Oliver’s that happened 10 seconds of play time later. The break out of the middle, the absolute jet of a handball from the ruckman and BANG from 50. Just for the fact that the whole thing happened at full pace. Adrenaline made the boys in that play super human. I wanted to run through walls after it too.

  15. It’s not over the line Dazz. Bombers want AVB but AVB isn’t that keen on going there, so they’re now going harder for Dunstan. I think Dees have their nose in front but Bombers offering a little more.

  16. One of the interesting things about how we have built our list and our trading strategy is that they have worked hard to mirror the senior team at Casey. Smart because players can train for specific roles and practice those roles in the VFL. And all mfc players in the magoos can get used to the sytem, structures and tactics smoked in the ones. Bowey was a big beneficiary of this model, as was sparrow. Helps explain an interest in a player like Dunstan as he can at the vinwy defensive mid role at Casey. And if called up he is well drilled. Same goes for resigning Mitch brown, who plays a tmac type role. May not end up getting a game, but if nor still plays a very valuable role.

  17. What else you going to do in lockdown. AFL players are the lucky ones to be able to still do what they love doing. Petracca would be like a caged Lion locked up at home.

  18. All this tedious think-bucketing. We have a couple of NGA/Father-son prospects and very few draft cookies (just three in the mid-30s to 50s), with little apparent prospect of trading up - while having to fill at least seven list spots and counting, including those vacated by hardened midfield bodies in Nat Jones and AVB. Dunstan as a delisted free agent seems a no-brainer - let him worry about breaking into the team, and who cares about whether he supposedly 'stalls' the development of Jordon and co. We are smack-bang in the opening phase of a premiership window. We might add a couple rookies, but the delisted F/A list isn't going to get any better.

  19. I know, I know, it’s like having to pick your favourite child. But if you had to choose one goal, which would it be? For mine, 3rd quarter, Tom Sparrow’s huge kick from barely off a step. And his pumped-up celebration afterwards.

  23. Club has spoken both with Jacko and his parents (who very well could move down here) and it's all been dealt with. Absolutely no issue here. Not related to this specifically, but there's been a team meeting since where the players, lead by Gawn, have spoken about how it's now time to wind up the celebrations and start preparing for '22. They know teams will be coming hard for them and they will be judged on what happens next season.

  26. The Geelong V West Coast game in round 22 was a sliding doors moment and may have changed the course of history. Geelong were all over them all day until the late in the game where the Eagles snuck over the line to finish 3rd and banish us to 4th and an elimination final against Hawthorn. Had WC lost and we finished 3rd we would've played Collingwood, a side that we had a fantastic recent finals record against. Collingwood were pretty ordinary in their week 1 final draw against West Coast, so I would've backed us to beat Collingwood and then face an Essendon who we had the wood over in 1990. Lots of woulda coulda shouldas, but we had to go the long route if we were to win the 1990GF, and it cost us in the first semi against West Coast.

  27. Trac’s 2nd. It seemed to dribble for an eternity for me, slow motion, and you could see instantly it was going in. I know these type of goals are second nature, but to do that so perfectly, in a grand final, game in the balance, with 57 years of pressure and being one of the main men… just ice cool. And Kozzie’s cameo adds some extra flavour.

  28. Half of the clubs in the competition are talking about grabbing ruckmen from other clubs with senior experience and they’re talking about trading them with draft picks in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounds. Then some so-called expert gets up and says this bloke who’s skinny as a rake and was second ruck in a state under 19 trial game and got half a dozen hit outs to nowhere is a top five pick. How does that work?

  29. Criteria: Pick someone from Collingwood, Essendon. Richmond and Carlton. Big 4 clubs appeased and will keep audiences up. Then better pick someone from the premiers & runners up or I’ll look stupid. Round out the 10 with interstate sides for national click bait. Done.

  30. Number 1 is a casual 7 years passed his best. Number 2 won’t be there for the first 5-6 weeks of 2022 if there’s any justice. Number 3 only shows up when he wants, and if there’s not a stray teenager on offer. So yeah, not a great list.

  31. I think my preference will be to order through the club, to keep the profits in house. I am however looking forward to seeing the AFL premiers DVD all over the shelves at JBHiFi, Kmart etc. Will be some gratifying moments looking at that shelf full of Demons premiers DVDs instead of another side like Hawthorn, Geelong, Brisbane, Richmond or West Coast for once in my life.

  38. I don't agree with everything in the analysis and he didn't always chose the right examples to underline his points but I love the depth of discussion. Gawn and Jackson are the ultimate one-two punch. You have tap dominance or ground dominance at your disposal. One of the main takeaways for me, is the influence of Viney at stoppages due to his strength - he is always in prime position and makes space for our guns to go to work. On the flipside, Bevo was stuck with the conundrum of Treloar, who was red hot around the ground but was the weak link at stoppages. Also, it has colour-coded spreadsheets so it has to be good.

  39. True, but if I had a penny for every time ANB or Spargo were described as not amounting to premiership level players I would have hundreds of coins of an unusable currency. Dunstan is good enough to play a role.

  40. It was a horrible day. Lyon withdrew with injury after being cleaned up at training by Strawbs O'Dwyer. The real reason we missed top 3 that year was our 127 point thrashing at the hands of North Melbourne. It blew our percentage apart and despite 16 wins we finished 4th. That year we beat Hawthorn in consecutive weeks and beat top of the table Essendon twice. We beat the Eagles in Perth and as has been mentioned earlier defeated Collingwood in both the 88 and 89 finals series. Such a waste.

  43. I feel like we've been here before. Melbourne list management team identify a handy acquisition and some Demonlanders [censored] the bed. We have a list management appreciation thread FFS. At what point do people trust the club? This is a smart piece of list management. If it doesn't eventuate then we look for other ways to add depth. If it does, we've got a hardened back up who can win the footy and keep competition for places strong.
