  2. Hawkins/Selwood/Dangerfield/Scott should be referred to MRO under the total ar@ehole rule.

  3. NSW going to state wide lockdown 7 weeks too late with 1.5 hour notice posted on Twitter. If that’s not peak incompetence I dunno what is.

  4. Gawn could be holding up the premiership cup and I’d still be worried we’d lose.

  5. Both arms pinned in the tackle and slams his head into the ground causing concussion. He was unable to protect himself as he fell and therefore Hawkins had duty of care not to cause head injury. Would be 2 weeks if named Neal-Bullen

  11. This gives me the sheets. We were only doing what half a dozen clubs had done before us without issue from the media or AFL. If we didn't tank I would have been fuming. What p1zzes me off most is that we were the ones hung out to dry by the hypocrites. The other clubs before us forgotten about.

  13. I just love the way Hawkins does ‘clumsy’ things which result in serious injuries to opponents but as he’s ‘never’ done anything wrong, there are no consequences.

  14. "important kick in the context of the game" trumpets the commentator. Well, it's not 'in the context of' global warning, or peace in the middle east. Glad the commentator was able to make it clear. 🙄

  15. First year in my living memory I feel confident we could knock anyone off. Other contenders look so beatable.

  16. This is going to sound absolutely nuts, but I foresee a game where we’re 6 goals up in the final quarter, and then the match gets delayed by a freak lightning storm, giving our opponents time to rest and launch a comeback! Probably never happen I guess..

  17. Clayton Oliver or Max Gawn having a shot for goal from 20 mtrs out directly in front to win the grand final after the siren would be pretty cruel. Or Spargo anywhere from outside 35.

  18. I would assume you would nominate a best 22 for each club then count up how many games those 22 have missed during the year through injury/suspension. It confirms that we've had a charmed run in that regard.

  19. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of list management, but looking at this list I can make a good estimated guess as to the rationale behind re-signing Smith. Not including rookies, everyone out of contract this year could justifiably be delisted or traded. That's a 10 player turn over which I think is unrealistic in the present covid climate. Then looking at the out of contract list for 2022, nearly all are best 22 with players like Laurie and Rosman surely deserving of more time on our list for development. Melksham the only obvious one at risk of not getting a renewal and McDonald pending his continuation of form. Seems like a simple solution to me of offering one year contracts to depth players. Might sound harsh but that would give us a 'delisting buffer' to protect the core of our list that we want to keep. Lockhart, Bedford, Weideman perhaps Hibberd and one or two others I wouldn't be surprised we signed on for at least next year. We can then delist the remaining players this year, bring in 2-3 draftees plus 1-2 trades or free agents. Think people get caught up in some players thay are re-signed outside of the best 22. When you have a list of 36players + I don't think its unreasonable to suggest clubs will have players on the list that are nothing more than injury fodder with the potential to play a role if injury requires. If they develop on the list and break into the 22, then that's a bonus.

  20. I don't normally pay attention to player interviews as they are ridden with boring cliches and straight bats. But Steven May has long been an exception to the rule and I'll always make sure to tune in when he's on. This is his best one yet IMO. https://player.whooshkaa.com/player/playlist/show/1919?visual=true&sharing=true&episode=889928 What a fantastic acquisition this guy has been, and arguably the most important piece of our premiership tilt.

  23. Hipwood out for the year. Bruce out for the year. Stewart out for the year. I’m doing my best not to get too excited about key players going down for the other contenders but it’s not easy.

  24. I'm not sure, I'd rather Port in Adelaide than coping Geelong at KP (regional crowds in Victoria) for week 1. I don't really rate Port (I think they are the weakest of the top 4 sides) and we have a good record at Adelaide Oval.

  28. Found the 'C'mon Demons' segment very interesting - I did the artwork for the record cover! Back in the day was doing a bit of graphic design for the Club (and did so up until about 2004 - Demon Magazine amongst other stuff). Remember Jimmy coming out to our office to talk through it. Wasn't my finest work but I seem to recall Jim had a fair hand in directing it - seems it was the case with whole project. Connolls is a very funny bloke - did a caricature of him for his retirement featuring bunged up knees. Bumped into him years later and he still had it - organised for myself and a friend to do a bit of a tour of the Olympic Park and MCG Sports Museum - spent a couple of hours with us with was great. Thanks Connolls!

  30. It’s a question asking what in the living hell you were off on that tangent for after quoting what @Skuitsaid. He was referring to footy players providing pablum and you then veered off the highway and into the brush. @dazzledavey36merely reacted like the rest of the traffic on the highway as you veered off amongst the trees and seemed to accelerate. Hence the ‘wut’

  31. I agree, must be time for bed. I had no idea there was anyone who didn't know he is a proud man of indigenous heritage. And I don't see how the outpouring of admiration and support for him in this thread is anything but people showing respect to a very well liked player of the MFC.

  35. Seriously @A F - you're living in dreamland if you think we can afford Hopper, Taranto or Tom Green. We need to sign Oliver, Jackson, Rivers, Kozzie, Petty, Brayshaw and Fritsch to long term deals over the next two years. We need to be shopping in the role player bin.

  36. Surprised it wasn’t brought up previously but there was a definite Demons quality added to the Front Bar this week with Max & Chris Connolly both on the show:- https://www.facebook.com/1238398882837019/posts/6423718187638370/?vh=e&extid=0&d=n

  40. I think many people forgot about his great sense of humour especially the times when he was trying to be funny like when those journos wrote about his description of the “vault”. In fact, I doubt that he ever was guilty of anything but telling a joke.

  46. That they haven’t been ‘given’ a team already is kind of shameful. They are an Australian Football heartland whose grass roots have been allowed to whither. That commercial motivations have been put ahead of the game’s legacy is, for mine, unacceptable, and the AFL as an organisation is responsible. If the state itself can’t bankroll a team, then this multi-billion dollar behemoth should, simply out of a duty to the game’s future down there. That they’ve done so with GWS and GCS sets the all too obvious precedent, as do financial splashes like the multi millions spent on upgrading GMHBA. We have no game without we protect its roots, and Tassie footy is currently dying, year by year. I couldn’t care less whether it’s a relocation, or about spurious Hobart-Launceston divisions. The whole state would go nutty for their own team, and of course games would be shared between Launceston and Hobart. The AFL needs to be the game’s true benefactor that we want it to be, and get it done.
