  15. I'm not sure of the numbers but my intuition tells me that interstate teams pick up a gear when they get the rare chance to play at the MCG, The additional motivation of playing there plus the fact Melboure are known as a flakey team means interstate sides are often pumped and jump out of the blocks against us. It goes without saying that we need to somehow make the MCG a fortress. Over to you Simon.

  16. Great news. It seems the Club is being very proactive in sorting out some of the lingering issues that have stalled our progress. We have a reasonable draw and a healthy list so hopefully onwards and upwards.

  19. No JL doesn't but what he brings is an organised game plan of a decades success snd with young players who stick to it. ( rather like in Cairns and with Freo foing the same thing) against our mo game plan and disjointed vs wind approach which resulted in disaster. They don't (Swans) build up fir us they know if they can get good use of theball their plan will outshine our haphazard and inconsistent game plan and give success, year after year, in fact from 2006 which nearly every year they have made Finsls snd we have once!!!! It's not rocket science BBP.

  21. Gees the off-season makes some get carried away. It’s like the further we get from our last loss the more the optimism grows. We just need the kid to keep improving. Nothing more.

  22. Two things that stood out for me about Rivers and why I think he’ll make it: 1) his debut against Carlton in round 2. After fluffing his first disposal he made up for it in his next disposal and totally hit the ground running from there with his composure and crisp disposal from half back. One of the better MFC debuts in recent years. 2) That goal against GWS. With the season on the line the kid stepped up to the plate and snapped an extremely difficult goal in the dying minutes which suggests to me that he’ll be comfortable on the big stage. An excellent debut season by Trent.

  23. if.... if tom is fully recovered from injury if tom has a good preseason and gets fully fit if tom can avoid future injury ....then he just might have a very good year. we know his best is very good.

  27. I haven't seem him play, but his accolades in the Alice seem to suggest he is very good at that level and he has been involved in the SANFL with North Adelaide, suggesting he is no mug. To go the effort to train and play there wouldn't be something done just for the fun of it, he must be able to play a bit.. The encouraging thing about him is he has made rep squads two and three years ahead of time, generally that is a sign of good talent. Another positive, which can be a negative, is that he is tiny. To be able to perform at a good standard against your peers under age and conceding size is a good indicator. Unfortunately, if there is no physical growth it can be detrimental eventually. Without having seen him play at all, there would seem to be at least some signs that he might be one to follow the progress of, at least. Quite of a lot of talented indigenous juniors get school scholarships and the like, so that might be his pathway forward (pure guesswork) and would be another good sign.

  35. Personally I hate Friday night games always a rush, no parking and a late night home after walking back into the city to pick up the car and driving back to Doreen.!!!! Merry Xmas all on Demonland,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. Got nothing to do with it !!! If you perform in a year like 2018 then you deserve Friday night and other FTA opportunities. Shouldnt be penalised forever we also have finished ahead of many teams in 2017 and 2020.

  37. I hate Friday night games; watching us get obliterated ruins the whole weekend. Sunday twilight games are the go. At least we get to enjoy a couple of days of foolishly naïve, care-free optimism before we get belted.

  38. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2021-tips-21-fearless-predictions-by-fox-footy-premiers-tips-ladder-collingwood-trade-news/news-story/514d529055e57e0ce3055528d18dcc04 9. Trent Rivers will be in All-Australian contention Zak Butters was the surprise All-Australian squad bolter in his second year — and Rivers could be in the mix for a similar feat in his second AFL season. When Rivers regained his place in Melbourne’s senior line-up late in 2020, he slotted in with aplomb, having between 14 and 16 disposals in each of his last six games. His composure across half-back will be well noticed, not only by Demons fans, but the All-Australian selection panel.

  41. I stumbled upon and watched the GWS draft night video. Some observations - - Clubs didn't enter selections via computer, they rang them through - GWS didn't rate Cox or Perkins in their group of players they targeted. They must have rated Reid. They were happy to get Bruhn. (could sense some dislike towards the Bombers) - Chapman was on their list but Freo took him. They then took Stone who they rated. - They were going to select Laurie with pick 24. When we picked him they did a trade with Collingwood for their future 1st pick
