  1. I’m tired of nuffs who think criticising the club is a crime

  2. Thanks for that, I think I'll still head down as i don't live to far from Casey and you can actually still see everything from behind the fence.

  3. I contacted the club today about going to Casey and what time training would be. This is there response. Thank yo for taking the time to contact us. The team won't be training tomorrow and at this stage their won't be any open training sessions. You can see training sessions when they take place from outside the fence but you can't enter or approach players on their way in or out before or after training for photos or autographs due to the current guidelines. So sorry Demonlanders I won't be going Friday. Hopefully in the new year they will have open training sessions.

  7. We are so frustrating and can't be trusted. It's not pleasant watching them, it's a chore. As a long time supporter I'm tired. Tired of not seeing them fulfil potential. Tired of seeing them drop games they should win. Tired of watching subpar skills. Tired of having [censored] Robbo as the game day hype man. Tired of seeing Trac, Clarry and Brayshaw not got back and take their time off the mark. Tired of seeing Melksham give away stupid 50s. Tired of not seeing the club hire a vodou houngan to calm the uneasy spirit of Norm Smith. Tired of saying wtf happened to Tom McDonald Tired of seeing spuds like ANB on the list Tired of Greg Stafford being our goal kicking coach (pre-Choco) Think of this as my MFC Festivus - I got a lot of problems with you people!

  8. I'm a believer in such a thing as a premiership window, it's just I think interpreting that into the probability of a flag win is fraught with danger. No one would say that any of Sydney, Hawthorn, North and Adelaide are anywhere near it. You'd have to think with the number of top ten players in their early to mid 30s that teams like Geelong, West Coast and Collingwood are about to go off a cliff in the next few years unless they can pull off some massive trade heists in the same period. Loosing all of Hawkins, Selwood, Dangerfield, Touhy, Taylor, Abblett to either retirement or loss of output over the next few years is going to hurt Geelong big time. Kennedy is on his last legs at WC, will be a huge loss for them and I see no credible replacement, similarly Sidebottom and Pendlebury will rip the guts out of Collingwoods strength and DeGoey hardly seems like the type of character you'd build good team culture around. I'd take the rating of the Saints above us with the same huge grain of salt that I did, when after 2018 all the so called experts had us as seriously challenging for the flag in 2019. I'd agree with Pert and others here that our team still has some maturing to do, in order to make playing consistently and winning a habit, as opposed to playing in bursts. However once that clicks for us, surely we are well in the mix with the talented mids and solid backline we have. Where as, how to fit Harmes and Brayshaw into the midfeild in 2020 presented some challenges, I actually think the depth of our mids will play out far better with longer quarters and could seriously exposure a lot of teams in 2021. When it all comes down to it, I think that Leigh Matthews had it right with his assertion that even with the best recruiting, strategy and training standards in place, the difference between a good season and winning a premiership still involves an element of luck ...and surely we are due a bit of that sometime this century.

  13. He is more of a lockdown defender that was being groomed to take over Nev's role wasn't he? Not sure he was expected to "rack up disposals". In any case its not like we have a lot of small defenders other than Salem who rack up disposals....

  16. The Melbourne Football Club website has a report on the start of the preseasons for the Casey Demons VFL and VFLW groups. The leading recruit for the VFL group is former Sydney Swan Zac Foot, a 19 year old 181cm, 73kg midfielder, who made his AFL debut in Round 12 but was delisted last month after only two senior matches. The list is led by stalwarts in Jimmy Munro, Mitch White and Jack Hutchins along with Kurt Mutimer who joined the club earlier this year and Foot. Others who attended the first hit-out were promising youngsters Riley Baldi, Ryan Sparkes, Tye Hourigan and Andrew Courtney.

  19. No point giving him a go unless we think he will make it though. With covid financial impacts our resources are limited. No point taking up a coach, physio or other for a player we think is a really long shot and only given a chance due to being tied through our academy

  21. The best part of having deleted all of my MFC supporters facebook accounts (with the exception of DL of course) is that I don't now have to scroll past the thousands of nuffies that like to post a photograph of the exact same membership pack that we all get every year. Simple pleasures.

  23. A fit and more mobile T Mac this season is still a very handy addition to our team, at worst as depth. Mobile blokes, with good tanks, good height and experience don't grow on trees. We were looking at Shaun McKernan (supposedly) and I'd definitely prefer TMac to that spud.

  26. Do you think Caleb Daniels is wasted in defence? I don't. He his arguably the dogs most valuable player. Bowey is exactly the sort of player we need in that same role. We have kozzie, spargo and now Laurie for small forwards. Seems like they identified a clear need and Taylor filled it.

  30. Why do so many supporters dismiss Jay Lockhart? Easily The best small defender Developing and was outrageously left out from about Round 12 in 2020 by a Coach who just stopped developing him. Faith in ability needs to be shown fir confidence and Jays style and dare are just what our backline needs from the BP.

  31. Australia Post must spend a fortune on storage and freight. I would have thought it cheaper to deliver the mail rather than store and move it. I have posted a letter in the Mansfield post office addressed to a Mansfield Post Office Box. It is sent to Melbourne for sorting then sent back to Mansfield mail centre where they resort and send to the Post Office where they put it in the post box just 4 metres from where I posted it in the first place! You have to wonder.

  32. Petty training with the backs is a no-brainer for mine. We have 3 quality tall forwards, which I strongly believe, all things equal, that we go in to Round 1 with next year. We can always play with 2 if one gets injured, and if 2 of them are out, it'll depend on which two they are as to how we line up (ie if Brown and Weid are out, we will need another tall, which could easily be McDonald/Petty to fill the gap, or if it's Jackson and Weid out, I'd imagine they'll play Brown and possibly Mitch Brown or Fritsch as the 2nd target). Down the other end, however, our key posts aren't batting as deep, hence why I think it's quite important that Petty spends preseason down there.

  33. taj woewodin sounds like a prospect we have serious eyes on, as does kalani white some further years down the line very interesting that they're focusing on bowey being a defender straight away; we clearly have a position becoming available in the coming years for a small defender who can hit targets by foot and execute the switch

  34. I don’t think I need to apologise to Jason specifically. I still think there was way too much smoke about a bolter with no form at all. But if he wasn’t so high on our board I’ll say I was overly critical of the football department staff and I’d withdraw some of those comments.

  36. Our Premiership window has been open since 2017. We have wasted the last 2 years of that premiership window. We have until 2027 to win a premiership. If we can't consistently win finals and win a premiership in that time then it may be another 60 years without premiership success.

  38. Answer to The Chazz ( And Paulo May be interested) First of all Chazz you have fallen fir the 3 card trick! Automatically dismissing Any player BELOW 180 cm ( 6 ft) and calling a 179 cm recruit a "MIDGET". That is why we haven't got a rounded list because our 181cm to 185 cm wingers and half forwards and the occasional below 180 cm players haven hit the role nailed due to skills and major impact qualities to succeed. Garlett had speed and Elusiveness Do he was a good choice. Flash Davey and Austin Wonnamirri also had pace and ball skills. But ANB Hannan and many others have only a limited ability to play that role. IF you viewed the highlights of both Laurie and Bowey it stood out like thevproverbial their pace elusiveness ball handling evasion and side stepping skills, kicking for goals and the thirst for the contest plus Bowey can take a mark! Most of these skills are Inborn In each player and are natural to their method of play So they don't have to learn like ANB Does without Any particular highlight and having got the ball his conversion is dodgy at best. Oh and all their coaches the AFL gurus Sheehan and Twomey plus JT have seen enough to know that although they are smallish in Stature that their elite disposal skills are also a huge part of their game. Spargo is IMO a good distributor of the ball but doesn't at this stage impact the game hugely. Kossie tuns well Is lightning quick and is learning his craft and will be a good/ great player fir us. BUT Laurie and Bowey are professional style potential elite A graders with bells and whistles ie many tricks that can play wing HFF FP centre and even hBF and maybe on the ball During their career. Writing them off is like saying a Small horse can't win or that a small player can't bowl. Sport is diversified these days and think of Caleb Daniel by 2 (even better msybe) with Kossie and Spargs improving our smalls can be a strength instead of an obvious weakness in numbers and class. Oh just to complicate we look like having a 194cm versatile winger come forward and maybe CHB or flanker intercepting In the team, with elite endurance and pace for his size. Should he bible verse a key position player then due to his height ? 22 players are a team and it's how they coexist and perform ie with a gxme plan that still needs improving that will enable us to rise to the level required to Win that elusive flag/s that both you and I yearn For every year., not whether we have 3 under 180 cm or 5 (Tigers have 8 in their team) in that lineup that triumphs.

  39. Thats a very big call IMV. Warren came over from SA with Stretchy and Obber, I think. And if not for trying to patch holes at CHB and HBF could have been another wingman of the ages. But it was the time of, "just clock him" and Gary Ayres at about 20Kg heavier seemed to do do it regularly. It was an era of seeing my favourite players Flower, Johnson and Dean who were all very light and ball players, get smashed by thug players responding to Jeans and Hafey. Still gives me the tom [censored]...

  43. Thanks LG great summation of area's of concern, we do have Tomlinson who looked at home in the backline and a proven CHB in TMac and I also lean towards Petty as our tall full back insurance, barring further injury. Nev Jetta is a different kettle of fish, I like Lockhart and desperately want him to succeed, Chandler is training as a small back, I like Marty Hore in the side and maybe Jordan, Sparrow or Nieta can rotate through the back line until one stands out for us.

  47. I’ll attempt to answer this. In a former role in my life, I used to manage a very large legal team at a major bank which controlled significant spend on legal firms each year just after the GFC - circa $35m each year. I headed up (and controlled) this spend for 5 years. That attracted significant interest. And, quite obviously, invitations to various things followed - bull sharks to a fishing trawler. Who cares you might reasonably ask? Well, I didn’t. I didn’t give a flying stuff. BUT - there was one moving part which was relevant. I was based in Sydney, and I was known to be about the only person in a relatively senior out-sourcing gig in NSW who was passionate about AFL. Everyone else liked rugby union, or cricket, or just themselves. I was known to be a Demons tragic - relevantly, I didn’t sell out. ? GWS had just started up in Sydney, and it was keen to attract the interest of Sydney’s corporate community. They tried admirably but they received little to no penetration. In the early days at least. Anyway, as a result of being the only dude who was vaguely interested in AFL at the time, I was invited to, and attended, a lot of GWS’s corporate functions, all of which were exceptional. I heard Mark Williams speak at several of them, quite often for ages. He was just SO freakin impressive. He gets this stuff. He’s charismatic as all hell. He’s a great motivator. He’s experienced. He’s a visionary. He’s a legend. Like many here, I thought he was an absolute tool with his antics after the 2004 Grand Final. And then I heard him speak regularly from 2009 and beyond - I heard him a lot in fact. Don’t be confused here, this guy’s the real deal. He’ll make us great. The likes of Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca, I expect, will hang off his words. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this boring and conservative club has just shown so much vision and confidence. I saw the appointment whilst causally looking at my wife’s Insta account - I just can’t believe it. Thought it was a joke at first. We could very well win the flag next year. Just sayin’. It’s time to get around this club. Everyone has to sign up. Force your next door neighbours to do so as well. It’s time to show some heart.
