Normally I would either ignore such a mindless, rubbish post or make some sarcastic, facetious comment. Didn't want to do the first. Couldn't be bothered with the latter. So I will instead I'll respectfully ask you to sod off.11 points

I only know how well he’s doing because he’s ex-Melbourne but him being an ex-Dee has nothing to do with why I want him. Hawthorn managed to finish fourth last season (and didn’t do too badly this season considering their list) with an average list, they knew their opposition and prepared to counter them better than any other team. Yze’s role at the Hawks is match day and opposition coach, he’s exactly what we need.9 points

It also might mean we can release Petracca to play further up the ground more often as well.7 points

We have a vacancy for a strategy coach. Yze is coming from being the strategy coach for one of the best strategical teams in the comp under one of the best strategical coaches in AFL history. People can have whatever reasons they wish, but that's the reason he's being sought out by the club for the current vacancy.6 points

Just watching him last weekend had me thinking how much I’d love to somehow get him to the club. Would be a great get. Anyone who thinks otherwise is having a laugh.6 points

I wouldn't say i was a Lever doubter but its fair to say nor was i completely sold on him. But i could not have been more impressed with his attitude and approach in the last two games of the season, particularly in the horror game against the swans.. You learn a lot about people in adversity and when things are not going well. And Lever raised his intensity and will to compete and provided a clear example to others. That is leadership. He makes a terrific point about the best defenses playing together regularly. Its absolutely critical and a huge reason why the Tiger's back half is so effective.5 points

Typical Thread on Melbournes capacity to draft +ve viewpoint "Player x would fit well and be a great addition" -ve viewpoint "Yeah but the MFC suck at getting anyone good, and if we do, we always get reamed and pay over the odds AND they are always injured" -vs viewpoint "also, we never get anyone good, just spuds and list cloggers" +ve viewpoint "mmm uh huh" -ve " jason taylor jason taylor jason taylor" -ve "mahoney mahoney mahoney pert pert pert" +ve " so if we get a class player, we pay overs, and if we don't get a class player BUT a role player, that's not good enough? Who do you expect us to draft?" -ve "non response, just indignant rage at poster"5 points

They should have played this game in Adelaide considering neither of these teams are from Melbourne.4 points

Firstly, that is a horrible deal. Secondly, we don't have to give the Pies anything. We can sign him for nothing.4 points

I don't have any thoughts. I'm not going to speculate and then act as if it's fact like some do here;.4 points

Frost is 309th in the league for average metres gained. He's even well behind Stretch! Salem is our best at 47th. A lot of talk here about Frost's alleged attacking abilities. I think where he showed great improvement is his defensive abilities - uses his closing speed well and can stop tall (Ben Brown) or small (Elliott). I'm dubious we'll get enough value for him in a pick trade - probably a pick in the late 20s. If we trade him I hope it's for a player we need.4 points

He had a great final last week. Not just goal kicking but that smother was sensational. With him Fritsch & Petracca, it would give us some real potency & x factor up forward.4 points
-
I'd be mightily peeved if we lost Frosty. He's just gotten his game sorted out. He's fast, powerful and more durable than our other key defenders. We can't let him walk, especially not to the bloody Hawks.4 points

You've taken that way out of context. Firstly, the quote about being unprepared was in reference to the pre-season. Anyone who watched our first five rounds of the H&A season could see a team that was not fit enough and found it difficult to spread away from the contest. I would've thought it was as clear as day that we came into the season underdone given the number of absentees during the majority of our pre-season. Secondly, this was not the only reason he gave for the poor season. This was just what started it off. He also acknowledged during the interview: 1) That the pressure of expectation (being a success-starved club coming off a preliminary final) affected everyone, players and coaches included. 2) He needs to get better at detaching himself from his football life to his private life and not let the stress/pressures of footy affect his private life. 3) He noted we need to develop a game style that can be more identifiable so that supporters know what they are going to get. That's three points alone where he has acknowledged improvement required in coaching. So yeah, your assertion that he is blaming everyone else but himself is way off the mark.4 points

We all have our pet hates SW. The drugsters & meth are at the top of mine. Closely followed by a few others. I suspect, while not alone, Meth have gotten away with murder over the decades pre the intro of ASADA.3 points

TBH, I am just glad we are targeting some RFA and UFAs. It seems to be an area that as a club we haven't exploited, and other than the cap space to get these players to the club, it costs very little else to secure these players. A trade period that could potentially land Tomlinson, Langdon and Elliott does make the list stronger, but identifies the club still as a destination club, rather than one subjected to having our best players poached.3 points

I'm annoyed that this has come out in the 24 hours leading up to their game tonight. Would much prefer it to have happened tomorrow morning after the put Geelong out in straight sets. Then we could've had Essendon AND Geelong fans going in to meltdown. And for the posters questioning how this could happen - it's not the urine collecting officer's role to tell them not to tamper. They just observe then report back to ASADA that the sample was tampered with. Seems pretty straightforward to me, and makes that part of the process a lot more transparent.3 points

Great day's racing this Saturday. One of my favorites days on the calendar. Group racing in both NSW and Vic and good horses prepossessing to their grand finals in both states. Mystic journey is the real deal, but i can't quite bring myself to back it. An insight into my punting psyche is that the reason is that on prelim final day last year i flew to Perth and when doing my form on the plane i though to myself Mystic Journey is surely the vibe bet. Logic won out and i picked something much shorter. But the vibe was the go as Mystic Journey won at very long odds. And has cost me money since! For example in that new ballot race in the Autumn where i convinced myself he would get rolled.3 points

For once we get to do this to another team. Makes it all the sweeter that it is to Collingwood. Bonus points if it puts them off even slightly during the finals.3 points

The other side of this is if he does not come to us, Coll#$*wod will have to pay him top dollar making their salary cap harder to manage.3 points

I can understand why people would not want to lose Frost. However looking at it objectively my sense is that there might be tendency to over rate his performance this year based on him being one of the few players who improved and gave us some joy in such a truly dismal season. As an example many. myself included, might have assumed metres gained might have been one of his strengths given his speed and desire to run and carry the ball. But the stats suggest that is not the case If we trade him we will see where the market rates him. Late second round would be my guess.3 points

Of course they are - he was the big out for them for most of last year, most Pies fans think their team is so much stronger with Elliott in it. Would love him at Melbourne but can’t see how the Pies would let him go.3 points

If you want to get a proper idea of Jamie Elliott’s worth, go over to the Collingwood forums. Their fans are apoplectic at the idea of losing him.3 points

If we think getting Elliot is in any small way going to improve our side or be the answer to any of our woes then we really are in trouble. $600,000 for a bloke that will add about as much as Kennedy from the Pies did a few years ago, just stinks of desperation. Elliot isn't worth a pinch of s##t. The fact we've even attached our name to him means we are f##cked. We have no idea how to play money ball and we are gone, game over, forget it, walk away.3 points

That was the great night where my question about player mental health after 2011 and half of 2012 was being addressed and he said they didn't need a psychologist because any player who felt upset could talk to a coach (!!!?!). I'm still upset at not asking supplementary questions to argue how stupid his point was.2 points

Article that focuses on Jake Lever, but doesn't mention Frost once. That might tell a very big story. Mentions Lever, May, hibbo and Jetta and how excited they are to play together. No mention of Frost, who was our only defender to play every game. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2019-09-12/lever-keen-to-make-backline-a-force2 points

I'm not surprised. Reading his scouting report, Jesus was too soft and kind to people. Had no mongrel in him to play AFL. He would lay a tackle and hug them straight after.2 points

He is a 25 year old 2 X all Australian who is contacted until 2021... I really think a first rounder is this absolute starting point if we had a chance of getting him. I'd say a pick between 8-15.2 points

Ridiculous. If anything, he’s a rich man’s Spargo. I’d kill for Spargo to play like Elliott. But I’m not sure I’d take Elliott, I think his best is probably behind him and I’m not sure about his back.2 points
