Simple homage to those wonderful “MCC Match Day” officials - the “Blue Coats” in another time. No matter how hard you would argue at the gate that your dress was appropriate, the stock response was always “call them what you will sir, those shoes are ‘runners’ or those trousers are ‘jeans’.” The Cleese “Upper Class Twit” imagery goes without saying.6 points

Mills hit him repeatedly in the side before Bugg retaliated by throwing a punch at someone he wasn't looking at. Mills went down and Bugg didn't even realise until he turned around. Throwing the punch was a dog act. The force was excessive for the situation. But throwing a punch in retaliation is different (imo) than Gaff who squared him up and threw the punch either deliberately in frustration or as a way of trying to get an advantage on the field (ie disable him momentarily and run past him).5 points

Sorry I can't let the last comment go so I'm reneging on my "last ever post on the matter" The fact is Smith has done a total of SFA while Pedersen built a career out of hard work & being a totally selfless team player, crashing packs & working his backside off as an undersize ruckman. In 2018 he dominated at Casey & was probably our best player over the finals series. By contrast Smith did practically nothing in 2018 & very little in 2017. I watched him in the Casey finals where he was almost embarrassing, trying to take speccies, missing easy goals and being a wasted space in the ruck.3 points

Unless it was a Xmas present, what's the problem? As long as you get your card and pack before round 1. Given the logistics of tens of thousands of memberships, it would always be iffy to expect it before Xmas, regardless of promises, and especially after the boost in memberships after our prelim showing. No coverage at all on Australian TV of the English FA Cup ... that is a sad state of affairs. One might presume that SBS will cover the final at least but I can't find any confirmation as such. Audio available from this Irish station from about 1.00am AEDT - Today FM2 points

So on to the Magic Millions it is then ... the main interest is generally with the 2yo Classic although the Guineas, Cup, Trophy, Sprint and the F & M race also has a number of quality horses running around. Some horses like 'Tally' have qualified for the big day even though they don't fall under the banner of the MM. A good move by the organisation. But pertaining to the 2yo Classic, here are a couple of stories emanating out of today's racing. During a heavy day with the lads at a pub early 2000's I was watching one of Troy Broadbridge's early awkward games and after a surprising piece of play yelled at the TV "go you big red fire engine". I followed him with curiosity during his early time at Sandy and across his 40 games for the MFC. I joined this site the year after his passing and it just felt right at the time as a reminder that there is so much more than football.2 points

Saw Buxton-Wales in a final at Bayswater (when down from Brissie for cats final) for Vermont against Sth Croydon and he looks a good type. Would not surprise if he gets a few games as a ruckman with Bradke in support. That is if Pruess plays ones.1 point

Nothing 'creative' from me. I'm just you're average 'Joe in the street', who loves our Club with all his heart, is lucky enough to have witnessed quite a few Flags, and who wants to witness at least one more before the final siren sounds. That's my Monika, and I'm proud of it!1 point

Most recruits are utility types, midfielders and running defenders. Buxton-Wales is a young ruckman from Vermont. Casey will be a running type side. McCaffrey could be a steal. Former Swans academy player (now 21) with 3 years in Country footy. Strong running mid.1 point

Hard one, Bears have great D but this time it’s at home, their offence doesn’t worry me as much but Trubisky can have a day out. Dallas is more rounded, good D, Elliot, Gallup and Cooper are all threats, Prescott as a runner can also hurt but for some reason I think we would match better with them as we have a better chance of a shoot out. So prob Dallas but we can easily beat or lose to either.1 point

Adding my 2 picks to your Barca pick works out at 14-1 (boosted) An outlay of 13 units returns 200 units. That's not too shabby for a 3pick DZ. Here are my 2 picks again ... NFL Monday $2.60 Baltimore (1-13) vs LA Chargers $2.40 Chicago (1-13) vs Philadelphia1 point

I don't want us to be rated top of the Pop charts.... I much prefer us go about our business in a tough uncompromising way... without all that fluff. no fluff, no outside noise, and less pressure.. and just play hard, and WIN.1 point

He unfortunately missed a lot of easy shots on goal that you would expect a professional (or any level for that matter) footballer to kick.1 point

I like Bugg, and I wish him well at Carlton. He had limitations as a player, but he seemed to run hard (both ways), and always seemed respectful about, and appreciative for, his time at the Dees. He also seemed genuinely remorseful for the incident with Mills. To put the boot into this dude on the way out is tres ordinaire.1 point

Some of my friends (and quite likely some not so friendly observers at matches) seem to believe, for some very strange reason, that I am just a little one eyed about the amazing mighty Demons. And it was not until a while after I registered that it was pointed out, interestingly by an optometrist, that I couldn’t spell?1 point

Sitting in a beachside cafe after a long walk on the Chrissy break, wearing a Demons cap to avoid the blistering sun. Passer-by chimes in with "go dees". My wife, who has little interest in football turns to me and says " It's just like a secret handshake with your mob isn't it?"1 point

Just helping the brother-in-law load a second hand clothesline at a property in Thurgoona (Albury) when the postie stopped with the mail - a bloke in his late fifties I reckon with tatts everywhere. I was wearing my MFC cap and he commented “a Demons man hey?” I replied “yeah mate, what about you?” ”Bloody oath” as he stretched his hi-vis polo down his chest to expose a dirty great MFC logo tattooed on his right pec.1 point

I select is s dud product .the vic gov site is better if choosing gas and electricity. I went through all of my bills/ deals with Iselect and they couldnt better any if the deals id found myself , why? Because they only have certain companies they want to sign you up with , not a genuine ‘choice’ site But thanks for the sponsorship!!1 point

Not too sure of the date (around 2010) I decided to play at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast. Had paid and was waiting to join a group when the pro came up and said let them go and I have put you with the next group. No problems as the Japanese group left and I joined up with the next group. Well I was really happy ( I was wearing a MFC logo shirt) as he joined me up with Jeff White. What a day. By god he could hit a ball.1 point

I was at the Depot in Richmond on a Thursday night in 2002 and ran into Godfrey with his mates. I asked if he was playing on the weekend and I think he freaked he'd been recognised out on the town before a game as there was pretty much no one else there. He proceeded to shout a few drinks for my mate and I. Awesome bloke, haha. BTW, yes he was playing on the Sunday!!! Different times I guess. I wasn't in the greatest shape to work the next day or play on the Saturday myself after the session from memory!1 point

I was on a diving trip in West Papua a few weeks ago and we made a stop at a remote island called Banda Island. I have been there before and always take along a bag of school supplies for the kids. To my shock and delight there were two mischievous little boys at the port in Melbourne Demon T-shirts. Admittedly they were pretty well worn and had seen better days and I asked one of them if he knew what the emblem was. He looked at me like I was stupid and said ‘Go Dees’. He didn’t know where the T-shirts had come from and they looked as though they had been handed down several times. I was so chuffed as most of the other passengers on the boat were from Perth and WCE supporters. Didn’t see any of their T-shirts. Made a mental note to bring along half a dozen next year when I go back.1 point

I was at that match and at a club afterwards. Got embroiled in a bit of a love triangle (polite way of saying that the girl I was half-seeing at the time saw me pick up another girl from onstage while we were dancing to her set), and so may have been distracted. Which club was it Hell Bent?1 point

I also saw Simon Godfrey at Inflation nightclub about 15 years back. I went up to him and said "Go Dees" like a groupie. He looked at me strange. Good times.1 point

I was standing next to Wheels in [censored] Smiths at Chadstone in my Melbourne polo shirt on a weekend in about 2004, looking at him thinking “I’m sure I know this guy” - worked it out 10 seconds after he left. i was hungover to be fair. just noticed the censor - I’ll refer to the store as Richard Smiths1 point

Good question, but I still have a soft spot for Kowal now. Craig can do one. Same video shop (NB: I was young) where an Essendon player came in with his missus to borrow softcore porn. What an era.1 point
