Very interesting article. I hope Tom wrote that solo. Next year will be his making or demise. I like the way he plays, and his ommission from the team hurt us on the home stretch.7 points

Houli's hit was alongside the play and he flung his arm back concussing the player. Bugg's was a direct punch to the face half a ground away from play, in fact the ball wasn't in play as it was yet to be kicked in from a behind. Look at each player's history and reputation on the field, Bugg is a serial pest and antagonist. Doubt you'd be saying this if he was Christian or Jewish, Biff6 points

Really? Waleed Aly,Ali Fahour, and Malcolm Turnbull were in Houlis corner-3 upstanding men of unquestionable integrity defending another.Ha! Bugg just got left to cop the full force of the falsely outraged football media.Houli was defended as an ornament the game with the words "completely out of character" used ad infinitum. Bugg- on the other hand is a "serial pest', "antagonist", etc and deserved up to ten weeks according to some. I've never seen a greater case of cultural bias and the idiocies of it play out.6 points

Amazing how people think he is a thug. Players have done way worse over there careers, take for example Alex Rance his hit on watts who wasn't even facing him I see as more of a thug act6 points

From the trade radio launch Paul Connors, who manages Watts and Salem, was asked if Adelaide had asked after either of those players. He said no, and that Salem would be at Melbourne, but was a little more vague on Watts. He volunteered that while the Crows didn't ask about either of them, they did ask about another player which was quickly rejected. When later pressed, he basically said that player was Petracca (who he also manages) and that Petracca would never leave the city Melbourne, and then added he thought he'd play his career at the Demons. So this definitely confirms without doubt Lever to Melbourne is a massive possibility, and Adelaide (well within their rights) are starting at a very high price in return.6 points

An ambitious opening ambit! They selected him @ pick #38 ie late 2nd round/low 3rd round, has played a handful of games in two years and has application issues. Hard to argue he is worth a pick better than around #40. If mfc agree to more than what Freo gave up for him we have rocks in our heads. He is no Hibberd or Melksham to go for a mid/late 20 pick.5 points

Priddis was a good junior and the knock on him was pace and disposal at the nect level. His draft year was around the time clubs moved from taking footballers to taking athletic project types. He was dominant at WAFL and won state and Premierships standing out as an accumulator. Meth Coast drafted him in 2005 and he struggled to break into their Premiership midfield However he won the Sandover in 2006 and from 2007 onwards was a mainstay of their midfield. Wouldn't say he came from nowhere. Always a footballer and a player I really admire for his work ethic and getting the absolute best out of himself5 points

Excellent article! Well done, Tom, for writing it. Just goes to show how one moment in time, whether intended or not, can be life-changing. Think the article says a lot about the character of the man. I really hope he can put it behind him, and be a better person (and player) for the experience. Really don't think any of us can cast stones...!5 points

I don't look in this thread for truth - I know people are having a lend of me or the person who is posting. I click on this thread looking for half baked rumours with a smidgen of truth and possibility. Give. Me. Your. Rumours.5 points

@Wiseblood haha cmon mate. I like your.contributions but not for this thread. Maybe you need a holiday mate if you're going to get upset by rumors. Fake or not it's just a rumor or movement hypothetical Trade thread needs more.rumors and less people getting upset by said rumors Ps - there's nothijg wrong with cslling out a rumor as bs... but it's just a rumor ffs we donr need truth police5 points

Disagree strongly. I believe Watts would do the opposite and play a great game in the GF. Look at the big Queens Birthday game.He certainly didn't crumble in this one. We just cannot affored to lose SKILLED foorballers. Not enough on our list.5 points

Amazing & well done ....I can personally say his perception of himself is true & what happened was totally out of character (which also means I don't for one moment condone what happened)......I hope to see him in our best 22 next year & am fully supportive of him.4 points

That article he posted is from a rubbish site looking for clicks. Not only that but it's already been posted, so 'passing on what he has heard' is him just copy and pasting an article of no substance. I wish people would check this stuff out before posting. It would make life so much easier.4 points

I don't believe we would be better of without Watts unless we bring in a Toby Greene type. Supposedly he was poor pre-season, played round 1 and never looked back until his hamstring injury. I remember an almost super human effort against Geelong in round 3 after Max went down. Can anyone tell me of another MFC player that could have filled the void that day with such impact? Queens birthday speaks for itself, the week later against the Dogs he was great, kicked an important goal on the half time siren from 50m out on a pretty tight angle to halt a slight Dogs charge. Misses the next several weeks and comes back without any real impact. Looking at the shot on goal in the GWS game where he took a run up of about 3 steps indicates to me there was something more than a lack of desired effort, even if i wasn't trying I would not make it that obvious. I much prefer the I salute Jack Watts thread of several weeks ago.4 points

I'm sure Richmond wouldn't see it that way - they'd look for the same value in trade for each. Rance more if anything.3 points

Another bit of sad news. It has been 2 years since Jazza last visited Demonland. I do miss the old guy.3 points

I doubt the kick would budge the cow more than a centimetre or two... however, in response, the cow may well kick the kicker into the side of the barn, yes.3 points

A well written and presented article by Tom - it will be interesting to see whether his playing style will be different next year, for better or for worse. And without excusing his actions in any way at all, I wonder if the AFL will ever crack down on those niggling elbows to the kidneys and the guts off the play that we see every week, especially before the ball is bounced. I can only remember one being penalised - of course against MFC to CarlTank resulting in their first or maybe their second goal. It is ugly and does result in what could almost be described as reflex actions with occasional serious outcomes.3 points

I think it's beyond doubt that Lever has told the Crows of his intentions to leave, and by the sound of things, he's also told them that Melbourne is his club of choice. Would love the deal to get done early in trade week, and save us the anxiety of thinking the deal will fall through.3 points

Listened to the interview and all this talk about habits, making the right decisions outside the club, McCartney talking about falling into old habits, comments in Roos' book; all points to a severe mismanagement of our young players in the Bailey and Neeld years and setting the right professional habits. Watts clearly had no idea how to be a professional athlete until Roos entered the club and this set back his development years and years. Old habits die hard and if he doesn't get traded this year then, after what has now been communicated to him, then he'll be playing a lot of VFL football next year if he doesn't demonstrate some change in these professional habits.3 points

Watts unfortunately just isn't doesn't have that competitive drive. A naturally talented person, seems like a really good bloke but the type that expects his talent will get him through and so far it has he has played 153 games. He is one of the few players that can actually kick the football on our list and this is the main issue. You trade Watts it doesn't leave us with many players that really have elite foot skills. Watts and Salem are our only players that have elite foot skills. So can Watt's fix his attitude or get someone else in that can kick the footy that has the right attitude. The club needs to make a tough call3 points

Personally I like the Chaos nature of it all. The individual can take or leave it for all and anything they feel it's worth. To accredit in some neo random fashion a reliance quotient upon any of it is just as foolhardy as not. i.e as they say caveat emptor. Who's to say anyone's ability to ascertain any legitability is any more founded than the information offered ? Some of the best snippets have in the past arrived upon strange saddles !! let the games continue.3 points

You know what we need? We need a Tier system. What I mean by that is when a trade rumour is posted it needs to have a 'Tier' attached to it. For example, if someone who has a good track record in the media of putting forward good information, then they are given a 'Tier 1' rating so we know that it's pretty legit and worth discussing. Jay Clark, while some get annoyed with him, is normally pretty spot on with the stuff that he puts forward, so when he posts on Twitter or in the paper then you can be pretty sure it's legit. On the flip side, if it's a rumour from a click bait site or one of those twitter accounts just fishing for some likes, then it can be given a 'Tier 3' rating so posters know it's pretty much rubbish and not worth our time. The 3 way trade that included Hogan is a prime example of one of these, or the Twitter account that claimed it had the 'Jake Lever' decision and then, of course, had absolutely nothing. Posters can also be linked to these as well. Chook in Perth would be a 'Tier 1' as he has a good track record, GNF might get a 'Tier 2' as he has got a few and missed a few, while Brayshaw Self, who hasn't gotten one right yet, might get a 'Tier 3'. I've seen other sites use this system and it helps to eliminate some of the stuff that is just silly. I'm not saying it can't be discussed, but it allows us all to see the rumours for what they are. At the moment it seems anything can be posted and some people will just gobble it up without even thinking. Anyway, it's just an idea. Not sure how it might work here but it's something to consider.3 points

Yarren is a cautionary tale. Not saying the Stringer is in the same boat, but when a club wants to ditch a AA match winner then it has to be buyer beware.2 points
