Rounds 15-21 , 1991

51 goals, 38 behinds in 7 games for an average of 7.3 goals per game,  5.4 behinds per game.

Ended up with 71 goals (5.1 per game), 57 behinds (4.1 per game) in 14 games on the season. Including 8 goals in his first ever final.

Buddy Franklin , Josh Kennedy and many others could only dream of a run like that.

Also kicked 60 goals in the reserves that year

After being dragged in the first half

That is why I would like certain parts of Jaka's psyche in our current bunch.

Getting dragged in front of those braying morons would make some of our current bunch go into their shells.

It made Jaka see red. He nearly caused a riot after the game when he gave them the double bird going down the race.

Some might think he lacked something in competitive edge if you looked at his career output. As the Gaz man said in his autobiography, he lacked none of that (see the anecdote about the volleyball game at Inverloch with Brett Lovett, Balls Grinter and Gaz).

Other parts of his make up I would take a pass on. After the volleyball game, he proceeded to pull a phantom knee injury and spent the rest of the day in front of the test match on TV with a couple of choc royal biscuits and a cup of tea. (I also believed he was moonlighting as a singer during that trip at the local pub, at least according to Gaz).

He'd be someone I'd like to meet in real life, but I know I'd panic and stuff it up and blurt out something along the lines of  'I love you.'

don't fret it tpf, in a few months you'll probably be able to say "i want to marry you" though it will be a few decades before you will be able to say "i want your babies"..........hang in there tpf ;)

Maybe that would be the best thing. Maybe no-one's ever told him that before. Maybe he has spent his whole life to now, over compensating by kicking big bags of goals, or performing karaoke in Manila pubs, and still be left with that empty hollow feeling.

I think you *should* tell him you love him.

Wow, pics surface of mythical legend Allen Jakovich and this thread is dead.   Unbelievable.

Its only the most momentous occasion in the last 20 years of the Melbourne football club.

i'm still in shock petraccattack

if he came out of retirement i reckon with his nous he could still be good for 40 goals a year

He looks very healthy.   Hell he looks like he did in his playing days, maybe better.

Not bad considering he would be around 50 now, or close to.

He is actually my life coach.

His words I'll never forget.

Be brief.

Be brilliant

and be gone.

He looks in better shape than his playing days. He hasn’t converted to that weirdo Pete Evans diet of activated almonds and energised water?

@Supermercado's contacts come through:

Organisers told me they were going to post more shots of him on their Facebook page, but so far nada. Presumably gone the same way as my request to pass on an email address just in case he wants to do an exclusive interview.

Any word from the event @Supermercado to shed some light on where the great man has been hiding all these years? Looks too healthy to have been expatting in Angeles.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
