he made a mistake and is paying the price.

Pity. He was our best player against Carlton in the semi last year. slotted his goals when everyone else was spraying left and right.

Without doubt... a real shame.

I get he isn’t getting a lot of sympathy but he should’ve served his punishment by now. He absolutely should’ve found out his punishment by now. Justice delayed is justice denied.

There are time protocols applied by the league.  Things are done when things can be done. Simple as that and he we are and there he goes.

Would be a tough pill to swallow, pardon the pun, to be doing what he did with his teammates and being the only one to lose his career.

Don’t have a lot of sympathy for him but no doubt he’s a scapegoat

Something in what you say without doubt.

He's not alone unfortunately.

He’s not being offered a new contract. The only judgement being made is whether the club is prepared to retain him on its list.

The only rats are those who want to hold the club blameworthy.

My heart goes out to him. I know he made a really silly decision, but he’s lost everything he’s ever worked for as a result.
I wish him only the best in the future.

Treated disgracefully when compared to others who did the same.

Lost his AFL career over taking a recreational drug, 3 days before a game day, when many others just played the system.

But seriously how long does it take to test the B samples and then organize a hearing to review the evidence and set a penalty? (Assuming he's guilty and if he's not then he's been unfairly penalized). I get that there could be a police investigation but that could be a separate process.

Agree. Jack G says hello.

And a disgrace that what should have been a 6 week investigation has gone on for years.

People would not believe the laziness & incompetence in various federal investigation organisations.

it's not the testing. a and b have been done

it's an "ongoing" investigation as to whether he was also "dealing" (or trying to) based on some email(s) found on his phone supposedly sent to team mates.  so an investigation into a 2nd and more serious wada offence which could have upto a 4 year ban.

and btw he will be out of contract in october

You forgot about the trafficking charge think that's an important point.

I’ve said elsewhere this is an unfortunate situation for such a young person. That is not to condone what is alleged but please respect the fact that in terms of the investigation, there is no outcome at this point in time.

Let’s please confine the discussion to the football aspect of the club’s apparent decision to not extend Joel’s contract when it expires.

If he is not worth a contract on footy ability alone then I still smell a Rat!

Who said that clubs should necessarily consider a player’s footy ability alone when giving out contracts. There are other issues involved such as age, type of player, fitness and future availability. It sucks that the investigation has taken so long but how do you expect a club to offer a player a contract in his unfortunate situation?

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
