There are first rounders and first rounders. He is worth about 2,400 index points and even then I think we are getting the rough end of the pineapple. If WCE offer pick 3, it is in the realm of fair, but I still would not like the trade.

I guess it all depends if Trac leaves or not. I want us to go to the draft this year but not with 5/6 first rounders. 
If we can’t get a quality player coming back the other way then Kossie might have to see out his contract.

I’m normally quite conservative with player valuations in terms of draft picks. But not with Kossie, he’s box office, puts bums on seats, great player just hitting his prime. Was pick 12. Is worth more than a top 5 pick alone. 
Trading him would feel a bit like selling our soul.

Can we change the thread title to 'Kozzie misses his family amd would love to have them around more with the baby, but is also a serious professional who understands the reality of AFL careers and is fully committed to the Melbourne Football Club which has been great at including family in the club environment'?

Also, I really think we should revisit my case for the club to acquire a small private plane to do round trips collecting the Petty, Tholstrup and Pickett families from their far-flung outposts!

3 Mil to buy, 700k annual operation cost if busy, call it 1mil per annum operations and finance.

It'll save that much in salary cap by the time you add up the different delighted players.

Plus, epic branding. Imagine the extras we could add for NT trips or special superfan rewards flying down to Tassie games.

Handy corporate 'offering', too. Flying with the board to an interstate game.

FWIW, this has been a regular occurrence with Kozzie and has often reared it's head. I would think at some stage he'll end up playing his career out elsewhere, but it's not the first time that he's raised this with the club and there are no indications he'll be playing elsewhere next year from the perspective of the club.

Wish he would!  2027 seems a stretch.

If he doesn't get to WA this year he will probably try again next year when the WA clubs will be better prepared for a trade.

My fear is other WA players will follow.  Except for my special boy McVee most of them have extended their contracts.  But as we know contracts don't mean much.

McVee will be upgraded from Rookie to Seniors later this year but at this stage is contracted only for 2025.  I'm hoping when he is upgraded his contract will be extended.  If it isn't I will get very nervous.😓

Right now, any player that doesnt feel under siege is kidding themselves. For those that want to bugger off for whatever reason, can, in my view, bugger off. 

They are not the players you want to stick around. Trac & Kozzy as good as they are on the field, if they are not completely invested in the club's success, should be traded.

And for crying out loud, lets do some character analysis in recruitment. We can still recruit interstate players, Riv, JVR good examples of those that relish playing football. 

What buggers me is that its for 10 years of your life, 15 if you are lucky. Go home after that. 

The 'homesickness' maybe there for Kozzy, but it is no doubt bought to the forefront with all that has been happening at the club and it broad lack of leaders. Gawny cannot be fighting on all fronts.

The moment it was announced about ANB situation few weeks back my immediate concern was kozzie being in the same position with the lack of family support.

So What happens when sister isn't available for support when needed due to work duties etc.. not taking into account they have no aunties, uncles, grandparents to provide extra support when needed for Koz and Ardo who need all the support needed for the first 12 months and beyond when you become a new parent especially at the age of 22.

I reckon we should try to deal with Eagles next year. Bring Reid back to Victoria as part of the deal.

Doesn't Reid have to remain at the Eagles for a minimum of 3 years?  I've read that the first 20 picks in the draft have to serve a mandatory 3 years now (change happened May 2024?) 

As for Kozzie, is this going to be a yearly occurrence?  With JT's Midas touch at drafting, getting 2 decent picks for Kozzie may not leave us short and we might in fact, win on that sort of deal

But he is such a talent and has the capabilities to be a top 10 player in the league.  On potential alone, the 2 picks would have to be top 10 picks

Sooner or later, it seems a move will happen as the talk of him moving has happened every year has it not? 

He's just turned 23 and is entering his prime years so on potential and from what we've already seen, his trade value would be very high.  As someone else said, he's also box office so I'd want say, picks 8 & 10 (or 6 & 12 or thereabouts)

Reid could be anything and by the time 2027 comes around, he might be one of the best players in the comp

I can imagine the Eagles throwing the big bucks at him to extend sooner rather than later
