Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Won’t bother Claz even a BIT mate, count on that!!!

I remember him reacting to the trainer Selwyn. He has a tendency to hold frustration in and then it can explode. Though this is like a new start for him.

He has had a stressful preseason, which he has now worked through well, so as get to the other side. Hope he copes and gets some umpires love. They will be going at him, in my opinion.

Human nature can be fickle, get through this game, like you say "won't bother Clarry", and I will be less anxious for him. Head over, and off to the next contest. He'll have the teams support, and that is what I am sure of.

I am totally fed up with the way the so-called Footy Press has solely concentrated on the so-called shenanigans at Melbourne. [censored], they've lost 4 finals in a row, there's the punch up between may and Melk the year or so before, there's the Smith 'unique' fiasco, and there's the Clarrie saga, and some of them even hint at 'deeper troubles'.

I don't recall this much attention to Essendon when all drug hell broke loose, the various shall we say 'dubious' behaviors at the E Coli Wobbler Protected species, and oh, no, there was no twubble toil and trouble at Richmond, Dusty who?, nor have I recalled the mighty ex North Oracle, aptly called The King, mention how any turmoils were handled in his time at a turmoil ridden club, and we won't talk about Lamumba, nor have I hear or read anything about how Geelong, anothery in the line of AFL protected Species, didn't even make the friggggin finals a year after a Flag. Jesu Christe the Western Media is already enough warped in mass manipulation to allow the so-called Footy Pontius Pilates to just totally and constantly just focus on one team. As Leigh Montagna pointed out to Mister Huddo and Pontius King - funny how he wanted to dude to get ten weeks after assaulting a Norf player, where was his voice when Brayshaw was put kaput? - that this kind of 'turmoil' most often unites teams rather than fragments them.

Really happy for Howes, has had to wait for his opportunity but I really hope he nails it.

From the sadness of losing Gus hopefully rises a new dawn for the Wingers club.

Agreed ..every time they mention the club or a player they highlight every incident over the years. Elijah Hollands now at Carlton is missing the first 2 weeks for an AFL suspension for being caught with coke at the casino in QLD. Never mentioned !!

Were you you living under a rock?

The media scrutiny on the whole Essendon drug saga was the biggest media scrutiny  I had seen in the AFL on a club alone.

They literally had cameras parked out the front of James Hirds house from dusk to dawn and nearly drove him to his death. It was constantly front and back page of the Herald Sun for two years.

Both Melksham and Hibberd have been quiet vocal around the intense media scrutiny and the toll it had not only on their mental health but their personal lives as well.

The whole Wayne Carey cheating scandal was a close second even in the day and age where social media wasn't a thing. It was certainly one of the biggest and scandalous stories we've seen.

To think we've copped as much scrutiny as these other events is just laughable. It doesn't even compare.

In both cases they deserved to cop the media attention they did and probably more.

Here we are approaching the first game of 2024. I have been busy with other things in this early part of the year and have only seen highlights of our practise matches. Looking at the side selected and knowing we have a number of good players on the injured list I am feeling confident this year. We will beat the Swans the only thing up for discussion is by how much. I doubt I will ever get over losing Gus to that charming individual from the pies. The sound of those Morons chanting Collingwood while  Gus lay unconscious on the ground will haunt me to the grave. That aside I am looking forward to an enjoyable year watching the Dees.

Can't stand the whole poor me mentality on here.

Has it been a challenging off season? Yes absolutely.. has it been the worst in our time? Nope, we've gone through the whole Troy Broadbridge death, tanking saga and Jim Stynes death in one hit which I think was more significant then what we've just experienced.

In my opinion the club has handled the Clayton Oliver situation incredibly well and they need a pat on the back for that. Does that mean we need all articles out there saying what a great job the club had done? Nope, i would rather be winning games and Oliver playing a big part in that. Results will speak for itself.

Anyway enough of that, let's smash those Swannies!

I haven't seen the full team yet but is it correct that the announcement will include the sub as part of the team, rather than having a player "promoted" from the emergencies just before the game? If so, that's a significant improvement.

On that point, I'd be looking for a "runner" as the sub. I expect Windsor will play somewhere around mid-60% of game time. Oliver may also be slightly underdone (he would normally play around 90-92% of game time but may play less than that in the first 2-3 weeks). Just because of these two reasons, I'd like another runner to be available to share the load.

i am sick of this culture bull, i agree with Brad Scott it is a day by day thing where you have 40+ guys all wanting to play football being subjected to slurs, insults, praise, injuries and that's just their sporting life, it does not take into account there personal and family issues. players/people all need help from time to time, we all do. why does the media seem so intent in belting a player or person when they are down. i don't know how many clayton oliver health issues i have seen in newspapers, online, chats, etc in the last year. does anyone deserve to see their life dragged out and misrepresented so thoroughly as the media seems to do these days. they seemed to think printing a story that depicts a player in a poor light that is likely to have a very detrimental effect on the player is ok, if they put a line at the end that say if you have trouble seek help.. just not good enough media stop rehashing and harassing people.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
