The Media department did a great job doing this getting Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart crashing the Team Meeting back in 2015. This was very good. 

Can you imagine the Melbourne Football club Media Department got Taylor Swift to do the same thing and surprised the whole playing and coaching staff. More importantly it would be awesome to see her in a Melbourne jumper with her name on the back of the jumper.

This has allowed us to work through how our Football Department is set up and allocate responsibilities to key leaders within the department.   Working closely with Craig Kelly, General Manager of Football, Coaching, and Leadership Brendon Bolton will step up and oversee the men’s football program and be the point of call on key AFL matters.   Head of Football Strategy, Innovation and List Management Justin Leppitsch will take on additional responsibilities relating to list strategy which will see him work closely with the Club’s Head Recruiter Derek Hine on recruiting and list management.   General Manager Football Operations and AFLW Clare Pettyfor will continue to oversee the operations for both football programs.   Our recently appointed AFLW Head Coach Sam Wright has commenced in his role and has hit the ground running working closely alongside Head of Women’s Football Jess Burger on ensuring our women’s football program builds strong foundations for success ahead of the 2024 season and well into the future.   MEMBER AND SUPPORTER EXPERIENCE   Collingwood supporters are like no other – we show up, we cheer loudly and we help our athletes perform. Absolutely 'Tim', a boutique club needs to be smart and in the area of fan engagement we're really dumb.

The current board and management to my view are riding squarely on the coattails of Peter Jackson.

When he moved on we needed really forward thinking, smart people to take the rebuild and then push it to the next level.

Have the club seen as cutting edge, an exciting club to be involved with and support, not weighed down by conservative management.

This hasn't happened.

We seem bereft of ideas...

Yes, it seems all too common from the Social media pages of large/high profile businesses, they treat their customers like mugs, often you need to be a ‘mind reader’ to understand their inane captions.

The people who post this rubbish seems to be immature teenagers who go about their ‘work’ unsupervised. I say make them accountable, get them to put their names to their work, the same as Print journalists. 
Perhaps then standards will be driven upwards for fear of embarrassing themselves.

Kate Roffey and Gary Pert need to start to show some leadership and aim for a little bit more than pedestrian performance.  They are both running scared, not letting the stream of question time at the AGM be shown to members?  Why?  They didn't want to answer the hard questions in front of the membership.  They don't want outside scrutiny so shut down any communication with prospective Board candidates instead selecting their own who they know will just blend in.

Why? They don't want to answer questions. Just look at the pathetic communication on the home base. I liked Kate when she took the job but her performance in the last couple of years has been disappointing.  Thank heavens we have a competent footy department which was largely set up by Peter Jackson and thankfully we have JT who continues to all us to perform well on the field but it just covers up the poor performance of our Board and senior management.  It's time they stopped trying to just keep up with the pack and started to aspire to lead it.

It's really disappointing.

I work in comms and it is a daily battle for me. I argue weekly that we need good quality content that takes time to produce. The outcome is quickfire memes that get good engagement but die in the [censored] quickly. Does nothing for brand recognition or growth and merely boosts your social media klout albeit temporarily. The people you're targeting aren't organically engaged in your primary product and so when you actually start talking about football, they disengage.

It's the offseason.

You could run Top 100 goals, marks, plays, and tackles for 2023. Countdown of the best games vs each appointment. Interviews with players. Instead we get TikToky garbage. 

This is my daily battle.

Spot on.

Nothing wrong with some social media fodder.

But its ridiculous if that's all there is.

And its not as if anything is going to go viral, and even if it did it is not like it would bring any new fans to the team or sell any more memberships.

Football clubs are not like a product that could suddenly become popular on the back of some tik tok trend like lyft nicotine pouches. 

Comms need mutiple strategies in markets where you are trying to reach diverse demographics, interest levels and age ranges.

I'm not on social media, so the contest designed for it is of no value for me. And even if I was  it wouldn't hold my interest.

So much could be done for basically nothing.

As you say, interviews are not only a no brainer, surely they are the bare minimum fans can expect.

And it needn't be just players- line coaches, data analysts, fitness team could all provide an interesting insight.

I can't recall there being so few interviews in a preseason in the internet era. What's going on?

Check freo's website. They have at 20 plus interviews up. Yes, they have an advantage 

Yes, they have an advantage of being in a two team town, and most interviews are small port training pressers with local media.  But still.
