Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why the obsession with small and medium sized forwards? Why are we not prioritising key defenders, rucks and midfielders given the profile of our list, and likely retirements in the next 2-3 years?

We have drafted 2 key forwards in the last 2 drafts JVR and MJ and a key defender in Jed Adams last year. There was Laurie and Bowey 3 years ago for much needed smalls with good disposal. Tick Bowser 2021 Premiership player.

Really IMO both most urgent needs are addressed this draft. Forwards McAdam Billing Fullarton 2nd ruck/resting plus  mid size power X factor forward Koltyn Holstrup and. Goal kicking outside running winger /hf Caleb Windsor and rookie mid Kynan Brown.

I was a little disappointed we didn’t take Curtin at 6 but we obviously decided on CW and also KH firmly beforehand.

I am happy with that group and believe greatest weaknesses have been addressed. If BBB and T Mac are fit and firing by some miracle we will have all the pieces in place with just a faster game plan from Mini.

JT and TL have done well.

In July we held picks, 5, 13, 25, 33.

We had Brodes, Harmsey, Jordan, our premiership players.

Be nice to start again.

This reads like some weird MFC themed haiku.

And like many haikus it is nigh on impossible to work out what the hell it is supposed to mean.

Take this famous haiku by Kobayashi Issa about Stuart Dew for example:

This world of dew

is a world of dew,

and yet, and yet.

We seem happy to trade in future picks both giving and recieving. The AFL make up the rules as they go along with compensation picks how do you put a value on futures with so little certainty?

Ideally if you can tie that in with a drive by swipe at the AFL for letting Maynard get off

That's an easy one binman.

The traditional Haiku is simple yet complex, steeped in imagery that jaxtapose the conflict in the relationship of 2 ideas or concepts at a single instant in time and looks to provide an intriguing and unexpected outcome or perspective. Here Kobayashi is clearly describing the moment in 2015 when Stuart is offered “yet” rejects the coaching role at Melbourne and thus denying “a world of Dew”.

There was a bit of rumours going around early that we were interested in Daniel Curtin with pick 7, however we made the decision to go with Caleb Windsor.

I'd be keen to know, 1. Did we ever consider Curtin at that pick? and 2. If so, what was it in Windsor's game that made us decide to take him ahead of Curtin?

Just thought of something on a completely different train of thought than the draft questions because I imagine JT is generally keen to only answer so many and give away so much on that topic.

I'd like to know:

What does JT and/or the recruiting team do to develop their scouting? Has he met with teams from some of the bigger leagues in the world?

And a recommendation, if he's looking for inspiration he should go meet with the OKC Thunder who have absolutely crushed the NBA draft recently (aside from some recent concerning Josh Giddey rumours)

What has it been like dealing with Dodoro all these years and how much will you miss him?

Will you have Christmas day off work this year?

Have you been offered big money to work at the AFL recruiting good umpires?

Q3 seems easily answered.
Do they really want or need good umpires or do they only want compliant ones?  🙄

If not too late to put forward q’s for JT:

- Did the Eagles genuinely engage in talks re: pick 1 trade, or was it just due diligence?

- When did we round in on Tholstrup as a player for selection 13? What sort of player (positionally) do you project he’ll develop into over time (e.g. mid/fwd or predominately a fwd)?

- Was WC future 1st on the table for pick 7, and if so, how tempting was the trade?

Thanks for the  interview Andy. Thought JT was still pre draft interview mode a bit and not wanting to give too much away.
Sounds like we have been keen on Windsor since start of last season. Surprised that he thought our two new recruits are the most likely to debut in their first season ahead of others who have already been on the list.
He was also keen to let us know that it’s going to take a while for last years tall picks to be ready.
JVR is the exception not the rule.
Thanks again, always enjoy listening to JT and yourself of course 😊

Wow Andy you and JT covered a lot of territory and every player that we asked about. JT goes at 100 mph he has great recall and you can tell how closely he follows each of his recruits and watches them closely for the right signs. I love his word Intent, something that he seeks in the draftee’s. Top interview thanks again.!!

Outstanding, insightful interview Andy.  My hopes for 2024 and beyond are becoming rejuvenated after listening.  JT always seems so open with his responses.  Thanks to you and all Demonlanders who posed questions.

Top job, Andy, as ever. Perhaps my biggest take out was that Kalani White, Noah Yze and Marley Davey are all being closely monitored for upcoming F/S. Hard not to get excited!

So who's starting the Marley Davey thread?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
