Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In this article about Murphy nathan-murphy-could-be-forced-to-retire-concussion-history it says:

"...the AFL’s general counsel Stephen Meade is expected to make a recommendation to Murphy imminently.  The concussion panel earlier this year recommended Sydney’s Patrick McCartin retire after he’s suffered nine career concussions – including eight at St Kilda".

I suspect this panel will play a role in Gus' future plans.

That will be intriguing. Will be awkward for the AFL if Brayshaw is forced to retire following that thugs AFL sanctioned footballing act

Gus was sitting on my table at a lunch last Friday, and without sharing the specifics I'd say his playing future is doubtful. He pepped up a bit for the BnF, which was good to see.

The AFL have a real situation on their hands that players in their early to mid 20s are being forced to retire from this sport, and, they are not taking head injuries seriously when it comes to sanctions. The fact Maynard was free to play is one of the greatest injustices I've seen in the sport. It was an absolute disgrace. If the roles had been reversed I would entirely expect our player to be suspended.

If that is the case and the FD know it, surely we would be better holding Harmes for one more year?

Though Murphy passed a concussion test, he made the call to sub himself out of the game for Patrick Lipinski due to reporting blurred vision, telling The Herald Sun he “couldn’t really see” coach Craig McRae at the quarter-time huddle.

That doesn't bode well for the AFL. That a player has to sub himself off because the concussion protocols determined that he was fit to continue but he was clearly symptomatic.

The irony isnt lost on me either that Collingwood may also have to retire a player due to concussion. I could just see the narrative if both players had to retire, that "its an unfortunate part of the game"...yeah getting illegally cleaned up off the ball.

And if not finals time, he would have been suspended without any doubt. No one would have blinked an eye.

Kozzie got suspended for his bump on Smith. Maynard's was a lot worse - in action and result

It is curse time. The last instance of a Collingwood player decking a Melbourne player and winning a flag was 1958. It took them 32 years to win another with the development of the Colliwobbles. I hope the karma bus hits them again and it another 32 years before they win a flag and have lots of close misses and losses.

I think what will be more awkward for the AFL is if the rules are not changed to make clear that what Maynard did will no longer be considered a "football act". I have no doubt that the AFL would prefer players who do what Maynard did to be suspended. The process which has been followed gives the AFL all the evidence it needs to change the wording of the relevant rule to ensure players with the ball are properly protected.

Didn't Pies fans carry on that Melbourne were negligent to let Gus play despite his previous concussion issues?

They didn't seem to mind Murphy playing.

If only they were bright enough to understand what irony is.

Correct. They are what we would call Neanderthals.. though that is actually quite degrading towards Neanderthals.

He hadn't had a concussion in 6 years, whereas Murphy has had multiple in the last year or two.

The Maynard hit would have knocked anyone out.

You reckon Maynard practices those types of 'football acts' on Murphy at training?

I don't think it would be awkward for them at all.

The arrogance of Maynard is well and truly surpassed by the arrogance and double standards of the AFL.
They'll make up a couple of lines to spin and bury it. That what a political party like the AFL does.
I'm concerned that Gus' future is now in the hands of an AFL panel.

This is terrible to read. If DD is saying that Gus was showing signs of brain damage, it is just awful - it would be awful for anyone, but here we are talking of a highly intelligent young man with his life ahead of him, but with that now damaged.

The other way to read what DD says is that Gus was depressed about having to retire, but (I hope) with his faculties intact. I hope that is what was meant, difficult as that situation may be for Gus.

They were lead on by that [censored] article by Tom Browne.  Who let's not forget is the son of the Collingwood president.  There is absolutely no evidence, nothing but pure speculation but it hasn't stopped the filth being led by fake news created by a Collingwood lackey in the media who, let's face it, has always been [censored] at his job.

I'm not bitter.  Much.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
